I discovered NY Slice drunk at 2am wandering around Sauchiehall Street and omg, it’s definitely the best relationship I’ve ever started at that time of day. Nothing beats a massssssive slice of pizza(or two or, in some cases, 3 slices plus wedges…) when you’re cold, drunk and want somewhere warm to hang when you’re waiting for the taxi queue to die down. My love affair with NY Slice continued when I discovered that they do HOMEDELIVERY. Best. Thing. Ever. My advice — buy the biggest pizza possible and live off it for a few days, reheats really well in the oven

I visit NY Slice only a couple of times per year. Not because I don’t like it, but because I’m rarely around Sauchiehall street. NY Slice; however, is a GREAT spot for food during the Glasgow Film Festival in between films. As I write this review, that very festival is currently taking place and that means that it’s time for one of my two annual NY Slice visits. I love the square Sicilian-style pies and the garlic knots. It’s also very well-priced and you can be in and out in 15 minutes or so. Glasgow needs more of these types of pizza places. I wish an NY Slice would open near my house because I’d be there all the time.

I’m not going to lie, but my first impression is that NY Slice is a take-away place just like all it#s brothers and sisters along Sauchiehall street. Based on my rather short visit, it is. I’m almost a little embarrassed to have been curious about this place, but checking Unilocal,it received some pretty darn decent reviews! Let me set the scene: I had been awake since 5 am, in Dundee at a symposium that didn’t deliver on the food side of things and I was cold and exhausted. We were walking back from the train station and my friend(and fellow Dundee-visiter) was starving and craving pizza. Due to our state of exhaustion(and no interest in a sit down meal), we decided to pop in here and get a slice to go(I had long passed the stage of hunger and was only keen for my bed). He went for a slice of the pepperoni, which he enjoyed although he did say it was too flavourful(if there is such a thing) for that time of the evening and hot — although this is definitely nothing to complain about in my regards, rather let the food be too hot than too cold, but he complained about it because he has sensitive gums. I went for a cheese slice because I am somewhat of a purist when it comes to pizza, and I firmly believe that the best way of judging a pizza joint is by the quality of its margarita pizza. It was good. It could have done with some more herbs and spices and a dash of pepper, but overall it was a-ok(not great enough to explain the 2.25 price tag, though. Maybe I am being stingy?). What I can say, is that they have a lot of options, all different kinds of «pie» and even potato wedges(although I personally think the portions are rather tiny, based on my observations). I would be curious to try a different slice or a whole pizza, or more generally to explore their menu a bit more. I also really like that they heat up your slice in the oven for you. All in all, if you’re looking to satisfy your craving for a bite of pizza, this is a good place to come.

It can be hard to find good New York-style pizza in Glasgow and so I was happy when NY Slice opened up. They’re a relatively small stop off Sauchiehall Street and it looks like all I expect from this style of pizza place. It’s casual, pretty cheap, and you can buy pizzas by the large slice. It works like this. They have displays of whichever pizzas you can get behind a glass screen. Along with the pizza, they have calzones, garlic knots, potato wedges, and salad. When you order a slice(or anything else warm), they heat it up in the oven and you eat it in a casual dining room or take it away with you. You can also order entire pizzas, but I tend to only do that when I order it for delivery. The pizza is not the best I’ve ever had but it’s certainly very good. They have a decent selection of toppings for the pre-made pizza slices, but it’s limiting if you have very specific needs for toppings. On the other hand, it does let you get one slice of one pizza and one slice of another. You are not limited to one kind of pizza!(you could get three but you’d have to be very hungry). The slices are large and well priced. It’s a great place to stop by for a quick meal for not much money. Just don’t expect something it isn’t. I really do recommend the nonna rosa.

I’ve lived in NY and had real New York pizza. I’m a huge fan of pizza! This place didn’t seem to compare to the pizza of New York, though it still was pretty good pizza. The place was nice and clean, and the service was really great! One thing I will say is that I ordered a big large pizza with black olives and they gave me green olives which was kind of a bummer. The place was a little pricey and the salad was ok. If you want a quick slice, this is the perfect place!

Been trying to get here for ages, so after a small portion of pomme frites I headed here. First impressions are a lot more ‘fast food’ than I thought they’d be(think Subway) but that’s not a bad thing, and one saving grace was the rather stonkingly good playlist they had going when I was in! The menu is pretty extensive and a little overwhelming so I kept things simple and went for a slice. I love the fact you could have one slice of this, and one slice of that, a great way to try things without being stuck with an entire pizza. I had a pepperoni, onion and beef slice which was pretty tasty but nothing out of the ordinary, and then a delicious slice of pizza perfection! Four cheeses, basil, dollops of sauce and a few slivers of chicken, I’d happily order an entire large pizza of that(hmmmm that might be a plan for the weekend!). Why not 5 stars you say? Well it just doesn’t quite feel special or different in any way. It’s good though and I’ll definitely be back when I’m in the neighbourhood. Ohhh and I must try the baked New York cheesecake, see if I’ve finally found an authentic one!

Great tasting pizza at generous prices. The soft drink refills is also a bonus. I will be back again for sure.

Time for an update. I don’t think I really got it before, but now I am a fan. I am not claiming it does the most authentic pizza, but it certainly does tasty pizza. I love the fact you can have a few different types. Buying by the slice is a good thing as you get to try lots of different types. My tip is to ask what is freshest and go fir that option. I have been a few times now and it never disappoints. Fancy a quick bit of something tasty in a hurry? This place won’t let you down.

Stopped here for some NY pizza in Glasgow. There was nothing special about it. It was just some straight up pizza that could’ve hit the spot better. It didn’t taste any different than pizza in America. I was hoping that the local cheese/flour/tap water would’ve given the pizza here some unique flavor. It was whatever. So, this place is pretty much for people with munchies after being at a nearby pub – nothing to go out of your way for.

NY Slice is conveniently located in the City Centre. It’s handy for times when I’ve been shopping or running errands and want something quick and cheap to eat. The prices are good, and so is the pizza. I’ve only had the ready-made slices and not a whole pizza, and that probably won’t change. But the individual slices are good, with a thin crust and a good amount of cheese, so I’m sure it’s a good place to pick up a pizza for dinner too.

«Just doesn’t hit the spot» It’s OK, but something about the pizza sauce just doesn’t seem to take my fancy — sorry. The crust seemed over baked too :-/Maybe it was because I got a pre-baked slice that was re-heated? I’m not sure, but I’ll ask for it not to be re-heated the next time and give it another go. On the plus side, the service was fantastic! Visited September 2013

I’m staying at a place just a few minutes walk from here and had been craving real American pizza. I just checked out the reviews for local places and this place seemed to be promising, so I decided to give it a go. The two for one pizza deal on Tuesdays seemed like a great buy compared to most pizza places here. The crust of the pizza was the closest I’ve had to American pizza in the UK so far, so I was happy about that. The ingredients all tasted and even the sauce had nice flavors. That is IF you get it freshly made to eat in or take away, it’s great like that. My only complaint is that the pizza served by the slice from the counter is dry and just not as good. They heat it up for you after ordering, but it just isn’t the same. My suggestion is to order a pie so that’s it’s fresh. It’s so worth the wait, especially with the deal on Tuesday!

In the middle of December, when it’s pitch black and the heavens have decided to dump half the contents of the River Clyde upon the fair streets of Glasgow, outside is a not a place to be. Especially not in a wee thin jacket that you put on «because it looks quite nice for this time of year» — like I was as I scuttled along Sauchiehall Street. Remember this, as a soaked, cold, annoyed and hungry Tony isn’t generally in the best of moods. By the time I left NY Slice, I was beaming from ear to ear and not hungry any more. I love pizza. Who doesn’t? Even non cheese eaters like pizza(Hi Wendy!) and this, friends, is good pizza. I opted for the BBQ Slice Of The Day — it was thin, not too crispy, slathered in BBQ sauce instead of the usual tomato, and topped with meat. Lots of meat. ALLTHEMEAT. Bundled with a side of potato wedges that were absolutely beautiful — I almost went back for seconds on those, but thought better of it — and a soft drink(I think it might have been refillable, I wasn’t sure as I had water running out of my ears at this point) for a great price of £3.99, this is a superb budget deal. The wedges and the pizza were popped in the oven for a few minutes to be heated to perfection, a nice touch rather than handed over lukewarm Don’t think because it’s a budget price, the taste is skimped on. The pizza slice was as nice a pizza as I’ve had in a long, long time; the base and crust were perfection and the crust exceedingly dippable — the wedges, as said, were delicious — dipped in the garlic mayo, they’re heavenly. Yes, heavenly. Only one slight quibble — there’s no signs inside the store to show prices or combos that you can get, but that’s fine — the Christmas jumpered staff were more than pleasant and helpful, even to a drowned rat like myself. Functional seats and chairs, disposable paper plates and plastic cutlery if needed, and that glorious garlic mayo all add up what I would say is an authentic NY pizza experience. Go here. Enjoy the pizza, watch the world go by and fuhgeddabouddit!

I love pizza me. Its one of those things that I just simply cannot get enough of, and having a pizza slice parlour in the busiest drinking street in Glasgow can be a God send at times. NY Slice models itself on the American style pizza, so that’ll be a crunchy base, with loads of toppings and tonnes of cheese. All the ingredients seem to be of a decent quality, but, I’m not convinced with the tomato sauce as its a bit sweet for my liking. I reckon a good dollop of olive oil would also do their pizza wonders but perhaps that’s one of the reason its American not Italian. Price wise, I think for your £2.50, you don’t get a huge amount of value. The slices could really do with being a lot bigger(and actually I’m sure they are bigger in the Stirling shop). I know how cheap it is to make pizza so c’mon guys, stop being so stingy with yer portions!!! This is probably my biggest gripe with the place as I’m more than happy to keep popping in when I’m feeling peckish or to get my pizza hit!

While I stood in the basement of Broadcast, all I could think about was the pizza I was going to get at NY Slice after the gig. More on that in my review of Broadcast, but we arrived around 11pm on a Saturday night and this place was empty — maybe it fills up later? The staff were super friendly and there was a good selection of pizzas ready and waiting to choose from. Not all of them had signs but he helpfully talked up through what was available — I went for a margherita and nonna rosa(mozzarella, grana padano, basil). They put the slices in the oven for a few minutes for us and then we took them home. It probably wasn’t worth them heating them up as they were not very warm when we got home but I was still really impressed by the taste and the size. The slices are massive — and 4 slices came in at something crazy like £4.50 so I was even more impressed. The taste was excellent, toppings generous and a real proper pizza crust — you can even watch them hand stretching the bases so none of this artificial weirdness. I’d definitely swing back here for some post-pint or post-gig pizza in the future.

I have said this before and I have no problem saying it again. Most pizza in Glasgoiw sucks and I have no idea why. Italian immigrants travelled to all parts of the globe. Brooklyn, Philadelphia, and the West of Scotland. New Yorkers got pizza, Philly folks got Hoagies and we got Ice Cream and Fish Chips. Wartime Italians arriving in Scotland did not decide to delight us with their home country culinary delights. It took Scottish born Pizza obsessives to deliver this perfect food to the Glaswegian masses. These guys have stepped up the pizza game in this town. Doing traditional round pies with thin crusts and stunning toppings, they are getting so many things right. First the crust. Wow. The dough tasted slow proofed to develop the flavour. Loads of really nice flavours from the base alone. Next the sauce is perfectly minimal. Providing some great tomato flavours but not producing a wet slice. Quality cheese and toppings. I had two slices that were really spicy. Flavours coming together in a perfect combination. The décor inside reflects the minimal classic interior of New York eateries. You really do deserve pizza this good. Go and get yourself some. It only took half a century for it to finally get over here.

Decided to try this place for lunch. Nice place clean and some good deals. Very similar to those other big pizza orientated places but you leave with sweetie money. You can get your pizza by the slice or the full thing. 10, 14 or 18″. The deal we went for was 2 medium pizza’s and a side of wedges for £13. Medium is their smallest size pizza 10″. We were in there at 12 and had to wait a little for it but that doesn’t really bother me. They also do Calzones, pastas and subs. Sweet tooth you can get a desert if that’s for you. It’s something extra for sauchiehall st and I can see it doing well, especially with being able to just buy a slice which is of a good size. The service was good and the guy apologised for us having to wait which was nice. Keeping us informed on what was going on instead of just ignoring us. I would go back and if you are looking for pizza then this is your place to go.

Came in here the other night after some drinks with friends at Driftwood, and I kid you not — this is probably the best pizza I’ve had in this country. Americans do their pizza well, and so NY Slice is on the ball! They have 6 or 7 huge plates of pizzas on at any time, and once your selection has been chosen, it’s put in the oven for a minute or two and is ready to munch away, on either a paper plate or in a pizza box. The staff in here are lovely and chatty, and it’s location is definitely going to see it getting a lot of business, particularly on weekend evenings. Sit in and takeaway available, and I’d strongly advise trying here. Yum!

We grabbed some slices to go on our way home and on first glance we weren’t really sure but our tastebuds were totally convinced! Crispy crust and fresh toppings make for an amazing pizza. We tried pepperoni, cheese and vegetarian but can’t wait to go back for the sausage!

The latest new outlet in Sauchiehall street. NY Slice is the healthier fast food outlet that this street has been looking for years. Just opened today on a limited menu with the full menu starting Monday with delivery’s available soon. Two large slices of pizzas for under a fiver with a wide selection available, not forgetting the side orders available and starters.
