Great venue. Anytime I’ve been there has been high quality live music. The staff are friendly and usually quite quick service. A good relaxed atmosphere

As soon as me and my friend Donald M got to the doors, the bouncers were really friendly and one of them knew him. Nice friendly bouncers. Down stairs toilet area could do updated, but it can be forgiven for the great atmosphere on the ground floor. Loads of women if you are a single guy like me. No luck so far:( I’m going to do a rating just now, as it merits it. This is the first time I think I have been here. Looks great, sounds great. Probably one of the best pubs on sauchiehall street Glasgow. Would be great bringing loads of friends on a night out. I’ve not tasted the food yet, I’ll do that another time. Music is like 90’s but a fun vibe. Even better now. Playing my song unbelievable by EMF:) loving this place. I’m editing this bit. A guy was trying to start a fight with me. I told the bouncers it was ok. What I never knew was the guy was heavy handed to my friend before. His friend later tried to start fighting with me later. Bouncers were ok. But reason they never told him to leave, is they said because he is a regular. Regular or not. You try fighting with people then you should be asked yo leave. Apart from that. I won’t put a bad review based on that. I still think it looked like one of the better places in Glasgow for a night out. Thumbs up to this place if you want a good night out. As I said only thing is, if someone starts trouble they should be asked to leave. Regular or not. I’m still giving the place a 5, as the drink was cheap, nice women, music was ok. Atmosphere was great and was super busy:)

There are many things that make a good bar, it could be great customer service friendly service, good drinks and food or even the entertainment at the weekends. O’Neils on Sauchiehall street could have been classed as one of those Bars few years ago, but what has gone wrong with this once friendly place. Well staff turnover has been quite noticeable from once friendly welcoming staff have been replace with some brain dead staff even though there are some nice ones left. The entertainment has gone downhill severely from bad to totally disorganised with the main entertainment being the in house dj playing a mixture of pop and happy hardcore, mostly happy hardcore at full volume driving the usual regulars away. Door staff that used to be welcoming have been replaced with arrogant low minded people who have a power trip attitude. My issue was one weekend that that l was denied entry for not being a regular after 14 years coming here l thought l was regular enough, but sadly not. On that particular night l was organising a friends stag party with 18 guys in tow, in the end we all went to a rival bar. I’m sure from now that I will be taking my custom elsewhere from now on till they sort out their issues.

On a Friday at about 5 this place generally gets filled with our office types. So I do my best to avoid. Occasionally you cannot help but venture in and have a wee drink or 2. Reasonably priced and on certain nights you will find a live band playing up the back. You also get the treat of a long walk to the bathroom. Feels like they have dug a tunnel under the next doors place and snuck you into their toilets. Food is alright nothing that has blown me away but It wouldn’t put me off eating here in the future. Staff are friendly enough and they don’t bite.

One thing Glasgow doesn’t lack is pubs. However not all of them hit the right spot between atmosphere, service, food and beer choice, thankfully this O’Neills does. Yes, it’s a chain, yes it’s an ‘irish themed’ bar, but put that aside and you have a large spacious pub, with friendly staff, a good(if not extensive) choice of drinks and the food is consistently great! I’ve eaten in here a few times in the past and it’s always good, tasty and hearty portions of the usual pub grub. On Saturday, I plumped for the Ultimate Burger. A bit of behemoth with two patties, onion rings, cheese, and a big portion of fries, it was a bit of a challenge but was pretty tasty. The meat was a tiny bit overdone for my liking but tasty enough, however I ditched the bun and tackled it with a knife and fork as it’s just too massive to even consider picking up! Perfect food for my slightly hungover state. My friend had the sausage and colcannon, which I’ve had before, tasty sausages although the portion of colcannon could’ve been bigger. We didn’t have dessert because we were both stuffed but I can’t recommend their chocolate fudge cake enough, it’s delicious and massive slices with a delicious sticky sauce! Happy to go back, it’s good to have a dependable place that produces good tasty food!

Needed something to eat before we headed to see The Twang at the garage so we decided to go here. The last time we visited O, Neill’s it cost us £180 for our lunch. Mind you that’s wot I get for parking on a yellow line. But anyway back to the review. O, Neill’s is a great pub for great Irish food. The menu has something for everyone but we both decided to go for the Irish breakfast for our main. Absoulutly brilliant and cooked to perfection the pork and leek sausages where amazing. Price wise it wasn’t that great but wot can you expect for a pub in the middle of the toon. Anyone wanting good wholesome food has to go here. Nice bar with a good selection of drinks and the staff are pleasant enough. Defo will go back again and again to this place.

Irish chain pub in Glasgow — what are you going to get? To be honest, I sometimes despair at the corporate Irish-ness of these places. You could picture a couple designers coming to a shell of an ex-hairdressers shop and figuring out how to make an «Authentic Irish Pub». «Right over here we need some Rustic, over in the corner a little Celtic, over the bar some solilquoys to drinking in Gaelic, and possibly some longing sorrowful pictures on the walls. Has the order of Plows arrived to hang from the ceilings?» It is too bad, since i have been in real Irish pubs owned and run by real Irishmen(and women) in Ireland and a outside of Éire. Most of them are Irish in Spirit not Decoration. I did love the Kennedy memorial in one little Irish pub in Sheffield and the selection of Irish Whiskies behind the bar(Crested Ten — ya beauty). Not a sappy saying or farm tool in sight. Do they do decent beers — sure. The Guinness here is fairly decent. Do they serve Irish Sausage with mash — you betcha. Just don’t use your visits to this place to make a statement about your heritage. The Mitchells and Butlers Corporation are as interested in your Irishness as they are about the sound of your Steaks at a Sizzling Pub co. Heading here to be surrounded by your Irish heritage makes as much sense as an Italian eating at Pizza Hut to be close to theirs.

Having lived just up the road form this place for about 5 years, ONeills became a regular haunt for me and my mates. OK, so the décor is a bit hokey and the Irishness is more dulux roller than fine craftsmanship, but its a «fit for purpose» meeting, drinking and eating establishment and raises no complaints from me. The kind of pub where you can spend the whole day as the beer ain’t too pricey and neither is the grub and with lots of tellies to watch hour upon hour of football, why oh why would you ever consider leaving? Work, bah, wife, bah, children, bah!!! get thy self a burger a pint and comfy seat and just chill out… oh, maybe one point to mention, i was in hear during the day a while ago(in the hazy days of student-hood) and the music was of the most depressing nature imaginable. Each song became more and more horrific as the day wore on that i forced myself to stay and endure the torture just so i would have a story to tell in 6 years on an Internet reviewing site… honest.

I’m going to be honest, the only times I’ve ever been to this particular Irish themed bar were when I was ‘well into’ an evening, so my review may be slightly alcohol-skewed, none-the-less, it ticked all the boxes. Good atmosphere, cheap drinks, cheap food and hilariously good music(bit of social dancing anyone!?). We went in around 10 and the place was packed(as afore mentioned we’d been drinking elsewhere previously). The bar staff were friendly and chatty — they encouraged our ruckus dancing(about 12 of us). Fantastic. A lovely Irishman(how ironic!) even bought me and a friend a drink because our dancing was THAT good(possibly we were actually THAT bad, he just wanted us to go away… meh, either way, we got a free drink, wayhay!). We moved on after a few rounds to a club round the corner, however, O’Neills did the job. A good place for a pre-drink or 12, I’d recommend it.
