If this is good fish n chips in Glasgow then get out of town. Cold flavorless chips and soggy batter falling off the fish. I threw it out halfway through. Disgusting.

Many a time I’ve been thankful for this delight, located perfectly next to Queen Street Station. Last night after a few drinkies we were again in need of a ‘wee bag of chips’, what better place than here. As always they were squiggie, doused in the perfect amount of salt and vinegar and served with a smile. As we sat outside, taking in the evening going ons of Glasgow night life, we were once again satisfied… a true Glasgow institution

I’ve. Been coming here for years. Between Buchanan street and George street, with an Internet café up stairs. Their Fish n Chips, melt in your mouth. I stopped coming here years ago, as there was a cheeky woman who worked here. All the staff are nice now. It’s small, but so busy. I’d pick this over BlueLagoon any day.

Fried pizza suppers are a way of life. This one was gorgeous. Quite strange service though and the woman was so tight with the sauce… if I say I want tons and tons of sauce… don’t be shy…

Final destination. Nope, not the movie — this is where all good nights out should end. Salt and vinegar with a side of chips, mmmmm.

Holy good lordy please give me chips so that i may try in a vain attempt to soak up some of this alcohol that is currently swimming around in ma belly. Chips served. Chips eaten. Alcohol still swimming. Oooft, ma heid. Right fine, it’s called Pizza Crolla, but let’s face it, this is a chippy and nothing more, nothing less. We all know this. We all expect this, we all chuckle when someone from a foreign land becoming mystified as we chow down on a battered sausage supper. I long for the late night takeaway options to become more varied, as is the trend with the restaurant diversity in Glasgow. For now though, this place beams like a wee beacon of ‘CHIPS’ to the moth like drunkerds of sunny G. Nowt special, but there, very much there.

Reliable chippy conveniently located at the top of Buchanan Street. They’re not reinventing the wheel in Pizza Crolla, it’s a simple case of good, old fashioned Scottish/Italian chip shop fare at not-so-old-fashioned prices. It also comes close to losing a star for encouraging drunk people to reek out a subway with a fish supper.

Used to dive in here often enough for a fish supper but only because it was in a handy location really, not because it is a brilliant chippy. The chips are really good, way above average, but quite pricy. Far gone are the days where you could get a bag of chips with a pound coin. I could be crazy, but I think they even put their prices up here later on. I recall paying something crazy like £1.70 for chips before after a night out. The fish is decent, but can be quite soggy at times and it can be cramped inside when you’re queuing. Not good or bad really, there are just alot of other takeaways that are not as expensive and have better quality food. Not a bad shout to end your night out. If you have money left.

I am often unable to resist the smell of this place as I wander down Buchanan Street on my way to the bus stop. The(albeit unhealthy) smell of their chips is quite lovely, and often tempts me inside. My favourite thing to order here is a pizza crunch supper(deep fried pizza of course); terribly bad for you I’m sure, but delicious all the same and the perfect tasty booze-soaker-upper after a night on the town.

I came here with acouple of uni pals for a post-exam munch last year. I got a sausage supper, Ruth: chips and cheesa, and Ben: a pizza crunch supper. We sat on a wee step outside and ate and talked. We all really enjoyed our food, although whether it was the salt or the sweet taste of relief after the exam I don’t know. Ben, in particular is an expert in fast food. He doesn’t eat fruit or veg, and mainly survives on a diet of triple cheeseburgers. He’s really thin though, probably from malnourishment. So if Ben says it’s good, it’s good!

So, after a night out, you’ve been waiting in the taxi queue at Queen Street for about half an hour. You’re slightly inebriated, you suddenly get the primal cravings for food, which mean you become very irrational… well fear not! This little take away round the corner will save your mind, feet and pennies(maybe not your stomach though…). Pizza or chips are the safest bet — my personal favourite, chips, cheese and curry sauce, is not always on offer(which I do tend to moan about if and when I’m there), so I mainly settle for chips’n’cheese — mmm… Anything else, and I’m afraid I can’t help you — I’ve only witnessed the purchase/munch of one kebab(and then I saw how it looked coming back the other way… it was just the copious amounts of alcohol my friend had imbibed, I’m sure, but to be honest, I don’t know if it looked better before or after. Seriously). They’re not overly expensive, usual takeaway pricing, but the staff can be quite grouchy,(or they seem to be when I’ve been in anyway), so watch you don’t anger them — I’ve seen more than one bloke thrown out of here. Another of their irrational tendencies is to shut up shop before 2, which is a bit of a pain if you’ve been out till 3, and you rock up hoping for a sausage supper –error. So, if you do happen to be in the area, do check what time they’re planning on closing, otherwise you may be bitterly disappointed(and sausage supper-less).
