I was on my way back toward Queen Street station after picking up some Roller Derby kit when my stomach got a’rumblin’ and I happened to pass by Bistro. Thinking«maybe they’ll have some decent falafel», I entered. They don’t have decent falafel. They also don’t have terrible falafel. They don’t have falafel. So that’s a bummer. Since my insides were starting to divest themselves, however, I ordered a veggie burger and a veggie pakora. The burger felt like it might be ill-advised, but I couldn’t very well just fill up on pakora, could I! All in all, these two ended up costing me £3.80 which is really not a lot of money for two things, so I figure«whatever, it’ll fill me up.» The pakora was actually fine. A bit greasy and bland on its own, but the sauce that came with it was surprisingly nice. Nothing complex, but gave it some zing! The burger was… Uhm… Hm. I mean, it had bits of actual vegetable in it, so that’s good! Aside from that, it was incredibly bland and suuuuuuuper greasy. To be expected when they just take a frozen slab of… Stuff and just deep fry it for five minutes. I left the place full and slightly queasy, so I guess not much more or less than you can expect from a random kebab shop in Glasgow. The staff were very friendly, so I’ll up it one star for that. :) If greasy, fried food and kebabs are your thing, this will satisfy those cravings, but it won’t do it any better than any other shop like it.

It’s super quick and convenient, nothing to complain about. A good stop for some chips Or some cheap food before or after a night out.

I was here yesterday. Got to be the best Kebab place in town. Chicken Kebab with Chips, salad, spicy sauce, and garlic Mayo if you want the women running away. That costs £3.40 before I moved to Liverpool I was known to eat that around 4 times per week:) Looks very clean. They have raised chairs. You really do need to try their chicken kebab and chips. You won’t regret it.

Yeah… I’m not ashamed! I come here way too often and always get the chips and cheese… sometimes when I’m sober too It’s the best chips & cheese I’ve had in Glasgow and the service is really good considering the amount of drunken crap they must have to put up with. The cheese they use is sharp & tasty compared to other shops who use flavor-less cheese. Yay for Bistro !

Common Kabab take away menu but the doner is properly cooked. Best I would recommend is spicy chicken burger but the staff is too much in a hurry to talk about the food for a new person.

Not the greatest takeaway I’ve ever had. It has to be said that the best thing about the chicken pakora was the sauce.

I wandered in here at lunch time and got a rather excellent baked potato with cheese & coleslaw for the also excellent price of £2.50. It must have been a lunchtime special or something because the menu said it should have cost £3.40. Hell, I’m not going to complain and I’ll definitely be back.

Someone must have told Bistro their chicken pakora is slightly lacking in flavour because they overcompensated by giving me enough to satisfy a large, hungry bear. Not that I’m complaining though, students tend to go for quantity over quality, and it certainly did fill me. That being said, the chips and burgers are nothing to shout about either so Bistro is best left for those who are very hungry, drunk club-goers for example. Staff are friendly enough as far as interactions with take-away staff go and the place was clean and well-presented. I struggle to point out one bad thing about the place, a fact which serves as proof that you can’t go wrong by coming here, and if you happen to be a hungry passer-by, by all means gorge on what cannot be a healthy amount of decent chicken pakora. If you want to treat your taste-buds rather than your growling stomach then perhaps you ought to stay a passer-by.

Wow, Bistro! When the world starts to shine like you’ve had too much wine, this is the place to go. Me and Stu came in here after a night out, got some food and taxiied it home. At the kitchen, table drunk, and in our glad rags, we demolished the food. I had a mixed pakora — satisfyingly spicy and containing a good variety. Stu’s chips and cheese was almost in a 50:50 ratio and he loved it. I got a wee dip with my pakora, which was also nice. A good drunken takeaway!

Trundle here after Bamboo and you’re guaranteed for some banter(and tasty pakora). You’re typical fast food place — chips’n’cheese are apparently a ‘speciality’(or so it says on the ‘speciality menu’, ahem) — they are open till late so, if in Vodka Rev, Bamboo, Reflex, Yates, or any of the other surrounding pubs/clubs, it’s worth a visit before the walk home.
