Well I had been hear before and was not greatly impressed but they really really have upped there game. My mum sister and me got 3 drinks and used the Monday meal deal on 2nd Nov where the some Large meals are £4.99 normally upgrade costs around £8.39. The guy who took our order was really polite and took our orders and brought it to the table. The food itself was very impressive unlike whetherspoons in anniesland. Now when I went to order dessert ice cream and toffee apple crumble under 2 for 1 deal all was good. But I found out later they had no ice cream since yesterday. I was asked what other dessert I wanted instead, my sister just loves ice cream so I asked for a refund, he seemed very suprised and unhappy. Then when Emily brought over spoon for dessert she didn’t know there was no ice cream. I have to say all in all was good, they could have offered a half refund for other dessert not wanting 1 dessert for £4.79 when they can’t honour the 2 for 1. Is it needed to show same football match on 6 screens, what if people don’t like football eh, It still gets 4 stars

My partner and I dropped in here a little while ago because we’d seen they were running an offer on a bottle of wine. Since £7.95 is an unusually good deal for a bottle of red that was enough to convince us to try the place out, even though when we went inside we discovered it didn’t have all that many other customers. It’s quite a large pub and the interior is really nice with high ceilings and comfy seating. I think it would be ideal for groups and parties, especially for a cheap night out. It turned out that the bottle of wine wasn’t the only cheap offer available; we’d already eaten so we didn’t need food, but the menu was 90% special offers like 2-for-1 deserts or a pie and pint for £5.99 on Wednesdays. So in that respect its pretty much ideal. However, it feels very, very chainy and this is from someone who regularly drinks in Wetherspoons. It turns out it’s a Stonegate Pub(the same chain that own Scream, Slug and Lettuce and Yates) so I guess that’s why. There’s nothing wrong with that on the surface, but if you’re looking for somewhere with a little more character then I’d give it a miss.

What a disaster! A friend booked a table for 4 of us and, also, phoned to confirm the booking was ok. The told her yes, and even explained which table. On the day we went, they had no table reserved for us and there was no other one free apart from one booked for a slightly later time but we were not offered that one. We went across the road to Tony Macaroni’s and had a wonderful meal with extremely friendly service so, in the end, they did us a big favour. Their loss as we spend a lot of money.

Perfect place to grab a decent lunch in Glasgow. Always a safe bet especially if your eating with an even amount of friend(to take advantage of the 2−4−1 offers). Food is presented in a high end manner while also being very quick to be served. Great spot for lunch on your break.

Oh lordy. It used to be a Yates’ and now it’s chaged and tried to move«upmarket». First of all, I can’t fault the staff — they were great when I was in for a friend’s birthday drinks. There was a table reserved in a quietish part of the bar, and champagne was presented at some point, which is always nice. However… the music was then cranked up to deafening levels(even for a guy with dodgy hearing like me) and was of the Hen Party on a bender mode. Rod Stewart’s «Hot Legs» was played. That’s all you need to know really. It’s just not somewhere I would knowingly choose to visit if it was down to me. I may not be the target clientele, to be fair, but them’s the breaks. I’m glad I went, for my friend, but if I never go back in, I wouldn’t be disappointed.

The Merchant serves a purpose; the small gap in the market between people who turn their noses up at Wetherspoons(which have a much better selection of beers, and at better prices) yet value a large establishment in which it’s pretty easy to get a table due to its size, and a variety of drinks that will please pretty much everyone. I organised a team visit from work on a Friday night and it did its job fine. I don’t think I’d be back in a smaller group however, there are pubs with either more character or better prices/variety of beers in a close proximity.

Very large chain type pub, loads of dark wood and high ceilings. Seating very much set up for groups of 4 or intimate booths. Very long bar with very little to fill it. Still it clean, service was good and there was real ale of a decent quality on sale. Didn’t eat the food but seemed ordinary but at a reasonable cost.

This review is for daytime custom. We got fed up with the crapfest menu at Missoula so jumped across the road to this place to take advantage of the 2 meals for £7.45. My burger and curly fries was great! Tasty and generous with a proper grilled flavour. It was nicely presented on a board too so more than matched what much more expensive places serve. Also take advantage of the 2for1 desserts! Great value and decent quality.

When I was our for my friend’s 21st the other night, we started off our night in here. As I do with everywhere I go, I took out my phone to check in only to find that on Unilocal, this place was not listed. Well let me just take a moment to fix that and add it on! I was surprised this place wasn’t listed because it was busy and I absolutely loved it! The DJ, who kept giving us shoutouts for being musical theatre students, was playing excellent music from 70s through to present day, the punters were in good spirits and the building’s décor is absolutely beautiful, adding to my enjoyment of it all. We had such an amazing time in here, but unfortunately it closes at 12, and not being finished with the partaying at 12, we wandered elsewhere. The only reason the 5th star isn’t there is the bar prices. As it’s not somewhere that’s night out or student orientated, it’s pretty standard bar prices, with a couple of glasses of wine being nearly a tenner. Because of it’s location I would’ve imagined maybe a bit cheaper, but I enjoyed it nonetheless and shall be back!
