I was so excited for this store to open up ages ago, but to me it is nothing special. If you are into some old bands like Misfits, Rolling Stones and all that jazz, you will probably find some clothing for yourself. Some of the t-shirts are actually not that bad, but everytime I went in to get a certain t-shirt, it was either sold out or they only had Large sizes left, unlucky me. Anyways, the girls clothing is absolutely revolting, unless you are an attention seeking, Black Veil Brides-loving scene kid. It’s true, you cannot disagree with this one. The guys merch is not bad, some of the shirts are quite nice but rather pricey, better brands like H&M for example would have the same shirt for about half the price. The people that usually hang about the shop are 14year olds with their Vans bags hangin low. Not cool. The only thing I ever buy in that store are birthday cards, as they’re sarcastic and insulting, aka a perfect gift for friends of mine. Also, there are a few hot guys working in there. That is all i think.

Love this shop! Yes, it’s probably aimed at a younger and slightly more alternative crowd than me(ahem) but it breathes new life into this are of the St Enoch Centre — and it’s great to see some one off stores popping up alongside the likes of Dorothy Perkins and H&M. Plus, this place is hilarious. They stock a large range of David and Goliath brand t-shirts which are really brightly coloured and funny. I wanted to buy all of them, just so I could hang them up and recreate the look of the shop in my living room. It’s filled to the brim with t-shirts, as well as belts, costume jewellery, jeans and shoes — so much so that it’s kind of hard to walk about. They also have some cute and kitschy dresses and pinafores, which I was very taken with. Prices vary hugely, with most t-shirts priced at around the £20 mark — but some hoodies/dresses etc slightly more expensive. They do have some great sales, though, and currently have a two for £10 deal on band tshirts and the like.

Pulp is one of the new shops to open in the St Enoch Centre, and this shop along with the other new trendy outlets seem to be injecting some much needed life back into the mall! The store is full to burst with clothes of an emo vain, although it also reminded me a bit of Hellfire’s punk section. There are skinny jeans galore, Hell Bunny tops and Rock Steady-esque clothing. A few of the T Shirts are styled on a frantic Japanese theme — one dress even had manic doughnuts dotted about all over it. They looked rabid, but I nevertheless wanted to buy it since I like something a bit different. They do a lot of band T Shirts, currently on special offer(2 for £10). There’s a lot of heavy belts with skulls and guns on them and graphic tees with superheroes emblazoned on the front. I quite liked the Hulk one they had in their sale. They also have some zombie dresses in a comic book style, and some kitschy clothes that are a modern, younger take on pin-up summer dresses. I’m an old lady these days and have grown out of the vast majority of stores similar to this — like Stephanie I used to go to Flip and wear jeans so flared my friends could fit their whole bodies into the legs(we tried this; it worked), but I’ve morphed into a bit of a girlie girl of late and probably wouldn’t buy much in Pulp. Nevertheless, I see its edgy appeal and would say it’s definitely geared towards younger people who are into ‘Scene’ fashion. If you’re looking for a loud pink t shirt and a pair of skinny jeans then you’ll love it!

Ah to be young and carefree again! Around the ages of 13 up until maybe 17 or 18, my school chums and I considered ourselves to be Moshers. It was a kind of cross between a skater and grunge kid, just the right side of Goth yet still wearing trousers so long and baggy that people three feet behind you would be tripping over them. Our highlight of the week would be coming into Glasgow to visit the shops in Tron Gate, and Flip, and Osiris, and picking up some black nail polish here and bicycle chain necklaces there. We were cool. I had to pop into Pulp, a new addition to the new look St Enoch’s Centre, to relive these days. Moshers across town(do they still use the term mosher nowadays?)must be pleased to see what seems to be a new and trendy ‘alternative’ clothing store appearing in boring St Enochs. It sells the usual stuff you would associate with ‘alternative’ gear; Band T-shirts, chunky jewellery, bright and cartoonised bags and brollies, and even some quite funky heels for the ladies. I had my eye on a Billy Idol t-shirt which was down in the sale to £14.99, with 70% off, apparently. Although I’m pretty sure it was only a couple of quid more when I saw it full price. Hmmm… The member of staff I conversed with was pleasant and helpful when I asked for another size, not a whiff of sulky emo about her, and I was pleased with her attentive service. Unfortunately, they didn’t have my size and so my love for Billy goes publicly undeclared. It’s not really my bag, but if you like the ‘alternative’ emo-ish, grungy look then it will definitely be yours.
