Richmond Oriental Cantonese Restaurant

The Richmond Oriental is about a 5 minute walk from our house and we have had takeaway from here on several occasions, but never sat in. Last night 10 of us sat in for a family occasion and we enjoyed a lovely meal.
The décor in the restaurant is clean and plain, with a beautiful bar area housing a gorgeous white grand piano. The restaurant is pretty big and always busy but has plenty of staff to deal with the demand.
The tables are huge and are topped with a round glass tabletop which spins to encourage sharing of dishes. All plates are also served atop a little hot plate to keep the food warm.
For starters we shared a selection between us. There were BBQ ribs which were meaty and tasty and the sauce was awesome mopped up with prawn crackers, crispy tasty Spring rolls with sweet chilli dip and Salt and Chilli chicken wings. All were delicious but my favourite was the wings. I’m normally not keen on them but the salt and chilli flavourings made them so moreish!
We all had a different main, I went for the Chicken Satay having had that several times from takeaway. It was served on skewers and deliciously peanutty with a hint of coconut. Served with copious amounts of sauce and fried rice I thoroughly enjoyed it. My Partner had the Salt and Chilli chicken and I couldn’t help but steal some. It was so tasty. Approving nods and mmms from around the table confirmed the rest of the food was great also.
My little fusspot had Chicken in Batter which he absolutely loved! The staff in the restaurant went out of their way to make him an extra portion as he devoured the first one so quickly!
The service was fantastic considering we were a big table and they really couldn’t do enough for us. Food was served promptly and we were constantly topped up with drinks/​rice/​crackers. None of us had room for pudding, but I’m assured by my little one that the vanilla ice cream was delicious!
A thoroughly enjoyable meal!

This is BY FAR theee best Cantonese restaurant I’ve been to in such a long time. The service, food and general ambience is excellent. Only word to describe it superb! It is buzzing!
Will be back very soon.

Hadn’t been there in years, ordered a take away, ok it was a Saturday night so delivery can take a bit longer, but over an hour and it was cold when it arrived. Best bit was the prawn crackers, meals were bland and not they tasty, won’t be rushing back for take away.
