£15 for a suit! £15 I tells thee! Popped in here the other week for a quick flick through the racks and stumbled upon a kick ass blue pinstripe suit(three piece) for fifteen of your earth pounds! Now normally I can never find an entire suit set to fit my odd body, but clearly this suit was purchased by my future self and left to charity I passed… yeah, that must be it. Beside this, the vibe of this shop is a little dif from your regular charity joint. The chick who I’ve seen in here on most occasions, has a slight hipster /librarian vibe going on, but minus the aloof manner. With this in mind, you can see that she puts out some effort into digging through the mountains of gear to find the odd hidden gem. So yeah, for vintage gear in the West End at non West End price… you could do worse than check out this joint.

It’s a small Shelter, but I always seem to have luck getting something out of here. It doesn’t usually get many donations in the way of ornaments and such, but sometimes you can score some cool ornaments out of here. They have a couple of rails for guys but as Chris explained to his dismay, it is mainly girls’ donations they appear to receive. They have a lot in the way of old H&M sdtock, enough to note that it’s a recurring theme! It’s handy if you want to pick up something still in fashion, and I’m always impressed by their jumpers. They keep prices low so consequently you end up buying more — low prices in charity shops are rare in the west end, so it’s refreshing. Saying that, I don’t mind paying a bit extra since it’s for a good cause, so long as shop assistants aren’t taking the piss(take note, Byres Road Oxfam… sorry, it had to be said). So to conclude, some cool swags to be found in this branch of Shelter, and Cat is right — the volunteers are really friendly and cool! The girl who has been in these past few times is really nice to chat to, and yesterday she showed me her new tattoo which was lovely. It was on her shoulder by the way, where did your mind go?!

This is one of my favourite second hand shops in the West End, mainly because it has a collection of old fashioned games that just keeps growing. It also refuses to modernise either the layout or the selection, pricing by bulk not brand. So– the books can be bargains, even if they aren’t as wide in range as a dedicated Oxfam, and the shirts are cheap. Even the jumpers, if you must, are cheap enough to be picked up on that spring day that tempted you outside in a t-shirt. I am fascinated as to whether any of the ornaments from here ever get sold: most of them seem to have come from a holiday, and so have that personal kitsch appeal.

This is quite a small Shelter shop, but has some great ways to display things such as jewelery and hats. Unfortunately, they’re not for sale… In the limited space, they stock the usual charity shop fare; clothes, bags, shoes, accessories, kitchen and homeware and general tat. There’s nothing that special about this shop — although the girl behind the counter was very friendly.
