The food and dessert were greatt i had chicken supreme and brownie. The portion is huge! They have live music in the evening so thats good for people who want to enjoy dinner with music. However, it was too loud for people who fancy talking to each over dinner.

Went to the butterfly and pig westend today to meet my friend who has twin babies. The place had lots of room for the double buggy and that staff could not be more accommodating. The food was lovely and there was no rush for us to move on. Great for folk with kids.

I’ve seen a couple of my Unilocal muckers review The Butterfly and Pig recently so I thought it’s about time to throw in my two cents’ worth. It’s hard to pin down what The Butterfly and Pig is, is it a pub, restaurant, a tearoom? It’s a little bit of them all really, and seems to attract a broad selection of clientele. We we were in last week, there was families with kids, ladies who lunch, people just drinking and us having soup to get out of the rain. I’ve been in a fair few times over the last few months for completely different reasons, a drink with colleagues, a leaving party for a friend, took my Mum in for a coffee and in with the girlfriend for a Sunday catch up and I’ve enjoyed each individual occasion. One of the best days I’ve had in there was the last day of the Commonwealth games, a friend and I had watched the road race on Byres road and it was teeming down, so we walked down and plopped ourselves down on their couches and watched it on TV while drinking beer and eating chips. And what’s great about this place is how relaxing it is and how you never feel rushed or feel you have to move. There’s also a nice wee seating area outside for the smokers or for sunny days(that must seat around 20 at a guess) Only one down point is the way the menu is written, and you would have to see it to understand. I would rather set my own teeth on fire than ever read it again. So the next time I eat there I’m going to have to get someone to read it to me and decipher it to stop my annoyance. Apart from that wee niggle, The Butterfly and Pig is a great wee boozer, restaurant, tearoom and I’m gonna be back.

Came in for some much needed afternoon tea. I have tried the one on bath st so I was curious to see whether this was up to standard also! Well, I wasn’t disappointed! The afternoon tea was delicious — there were various selections of sandwiches including egg, ham, salami, and tuna. Along with some cakes and scones and my all time favourite — salmon with cream cheese on oat crackers mmmm! All places neatly onto a vintage style lazy susan. I loved the vintage style teapots, teacups and saucers — going to need to get some for myself now! Huge fan of afternoon tea — definately satisfied my craving!

Although I was disappointed by the Bath Street B&P Afternoon Tea I didn’t let it put me off trying this place for the ‘proper’ food. We needed somewhere for an evening meal that wasn’t ‘too exotic’ if you get my drift… My boyfriends Mum likes her traditional food and not anything too spicy. I suggested here as we also hadn’t tried it out before(birds; stone; 2 of them and all that jazz) As you walk in the dining area is to your right, up on a raised platform. The(loooong) bar & rest of the seating is to the left which always(when we have been in) has looked a bit bare and chilly ~ it’s quite spaced out which is good but not when it’s quiet as it makes the place seem even more barren than it is. I believe there’s an upstairs too ~ the Tearooms I think. Haven’t ventured up there yet… possibly won’t though after my last Tearooms experience… hut-hum…say no more… Service in here has always been swift & friendly. On first visiting I asked what beers they had draft & the lady advised me it was best to look as they had quite a few(not quite as many as the bar that was here before however) I went for the Harviestoun Schiehallion(or as I now call it ‘The mouse wan’) and very nice it was, I was a bit disappointed when I last visited as they didn’t have it on tap anymore. Oh well. They have a quite good selection compared to some other pubs and I have heard their wine list is pretty good too. The food menu is something to behold! If you haven’t ever eaten in a B&P then you’re in for a surprise! Trying to decipher some of the descriptions of the dishes can prove at best amusing but at worst a bit annoying… it’s not helped by the odd font really spaced-out they have used. For us young folk with good eyesight(not me then!) it’s cool but I can imagine for older folk it could possibly be a bit baffling. Still they offer up some great choice in here. I’ve never tried a starter(usually because I always want a dessert in here, which doesn’t happen in many places) but they all sound really good. For mains I have tried the B&P burger(nice and also huge!) and the smoked haddock with mash & poached egg(very good). The portions sizes here are pretty damn healthy; it’s not often I cannae finish my food but in here I do struggle… although again, I am usually trying to leave space for a tasty sweet thang, ooh yeah! We’ve had the sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce & ice cream both times now and me-oh-my! It is a BEAST! *ooft* You get a HUGE block of warm delicious sticky toffee puddingness swimming in toffee sauce and topped with vanilla ice cream; as the lovely Agent Cooper would say ‘This must be where puddings come to die’ *sigh* Lush. I like the décor of the B&P chain ~ its very ‘shabby chic’ and all the seating, cutlery, plates, etc… are all odd, mismatched & vintage. I think before they open these joints they must do one MASSIVE chareedy shop crawl to source the cool pieces they aquire. It might not be to everyone’s taste but I really like it as it’s quirky & also when taking friends/family it’s quite a talking point. It also makes for a good photo as it looks as though rather than being in a bar you’re dining at your more-eccentric/cool grannies hoose. At first I was sad to see the bar that was here before close and B&P take it’s place but since visiting here I’m really glad they took over this, what seems to be doomed, corner at Partick Cross. I wish them well & I really hope this place sticks around for more than a few months/a year like other businesses before. I’ve got a good feeling they will as they seem to be very popular with quite a variety & broad range of folk. Also the B&P has come to be a name most folk in Glasgow recognise & also affiliate with a good night out and also a good meal. I for one will certainly be back. (For the record: the future mother-in-law really liked the place ~ she had the steak pie and said it was delicious; yas!)

We tried this new branch of the Butterfly & Pig after purchasing an ITISON afternoon tea for two voucher. It’s clear that they are trying to channel the cosy mismatched vintage atmosphere of the original Bath Street bar, but it doesn’t quite manage it. I found it really bright and spacious — almost too much space around us. But concentrating on the most important bit, the afternoon tea for two was delicious, and as always Butterfly & Pig don’t skimp on their portion sizes. They are incredibly generous compared to other purveyors of afternoon teas. I could eat everything all over again. My favourites were the tuna salad sandwiches, jam & cream scones, and smoked salmon appetisers. The service was quick and helpful. I still prefer the one on Bath Street but it’s good to know there’s one in the West End if ever i have a hankering for some afternoon tea when up that way.

This place could be a 3 or 4 star to me. It is nice an tea house with a nice bar attached. Good place for parties or a one on one night. I had the steak pie and it was a proper pie. Very good and cooked well. My coworker had the steak and when it came out it was giant. They said it was 9 to 10 ounces but there is no way it was that small. We got a good amount of food for our money and left full.

I visited this place about 6 months ago and I didn’t mean to leave it so long for a second visit — while my last experience was definitely a 3 star experience I wanted to give them a second chance. So when my friend suggested having her leaving drinks here, I was well chuffed to return. I’m not totally sure whether the décor has changed since my first visit but I like how they’ve changed the space from drab, generic bar into something resembling the city centre one — although it’s a lot brighter due to all the large windows. My friend had organised to have a space booked ahead of time and as we were the first people to arrive, the manager asked people to move out of the space for our booking which was greatly appreciated. The couches are large, comfortable and don’t have any manky stains or marks but on a busy Friday night it’s difficult to talk to the people on the couches opposite. For the amount of time we were there, around an hour, the place had a decent crowd and good atmosphere as well as some good tunes. Staff were friendly and helpful, and while I didn’t try the food this time I’ll definitely be back to give that a whirl — and possibly update this review again with another star.

Visited here for the second time recently and actually stayed to eat this time round. We were toasting the departure of a friend back to the US, and had started with a whisky in the Lismore but were driven out by a noisy band and the need for more sustenance. It was early evening and the place was quiet, so we sat in the very comfortable sofas and primed our palates with another whisky and some speciality teas(whisky and tea is a great combination — try it!) Suitably primed, we decanted ourselves over to the dining tables and decided on our orders. The writing style on the menu is quirky to say the least, but it does provide a good idea of what’s in every dish, which is handy for dietary-challenged folk like myself. We all went for the Glesgae Tart for starters(mine without the crowdie topping) — they were a nice option for veggies but didn’t strike me as anything particularly special(and I have no idea why they’re called Glesgae tarts?) I struggled a bit to find a main course that I could eat, but settled eventually on the fish cakes. I was totally unprepared for what these were and was expecting the usual fishy patty with some veg as pictured in Briony’s review — not so! It was a small frying pan entirely filled with fishy/mash mix and topped with a poached egg, served in the pan on a board. Definitely different! The egg was a bit rubbery as the whole thing seems to have been grilled to finish off, but nonetheless it was quite tasty, sort of like fish stovies. I did feel that it was lacking some veggies or salad to go with it though. One of my companions had a fish and chips with mushy peas — I would have gone for this option except that the mushy peas had ham in it(what’s that about??) — and although the fish was tasty, the chips(with peel on) seemed less so and most of them were left. My other chum had a mushroom burger with chips, and again ended up not eating many of the chips. Determined to go for the full gastronomic immersion, I then ordered a Guinness and chocolate cake from the dessert cabinet. Although the topping was nice, the actual body of the cake was a little dry so it clearly wasn’t that fresh. Overall, there is a lovely ambience to the place and I really like the eclectic décor. It’s a cool place to hang out in when it’s not too busy and I do like their selection of speciality teas and ales. If you’re there and you decide to eat it’s OK, but I won’t be going back there just for the food — there are much better eateries in the area.

Can’t comment on food, but quiet Pint was A-OK! Seems a nice and relaxed place for an afternoon pint from the outside and it was exactly the same inside :) can’t comment on food or how it will compare on a Saturday night, but my impression is that it would be a friendly atmospheric and relaxing evening Visited February 2014

Stopped in here for a bit of pud and a drink. I’d never been in and did not expect what I saw. A grand cozy homely bar/restaurant with couches, corner tables and bar stools. My friend ordered a wine and I decided to try the chocolate brownie. I am absolutely in love with their brownie and ice cream combo. Rich, decadent and completely hit the spot. I need to come back for a meal!

This location must have some kind of ancient curse levied against it(maybe a burnt Partick Thistle shirt buried underneath it or something) as I swear this is about the 5th or 6th different attempt to make a go of this building. Maybe it’s the established surrounding bars; The Three Judges next door is one of my favourite places in Glasgow, there’s The Lismore a mere 2 minute walk away and Brewdog about 5 – 10 minutes along the road from here — doesn’t explain the rapid turnover of business here surely though? But I digress. This is an offshoot of the wonderful Butterfly & Pig in the city centre, a bar that’s central design theme seems to be they don’t have one. That style or lack of, is continued here with mismatched arm chairs, standard lamps, couches and the like mixed in amongst a stylish modern looking bar and gantry. It’s quite the mix, but they just about pull it off. The bar is well stocked with a fair mix of good, solid ales and beers; for my visit, I took a pint of West St Mungo which is a fabulous Glasgow brew to sup. Other than that, there’s not much to say about this new venture. It’s pretty much a clone of the Bath Street bat, but with bigger windows and a little bit brighter. I hope it sticks around for longer than previous residents here, and I think it will; there was a ton of people here, both eating and drinking and it looked like it was fairly popular… a good sign, hopefully. Do I need to go back here? It’s not a «must visit» like the Judges is, but it’s certainly somewhere I would pop into again without question. I did cast a longing glance at the Judges as I left and headed for the Kelvinhall underground stop just across the road…

Nipped in for a little afternoon snack with the two kids. Lovely staff and lots of room. The cakes were really nice. The courgette cake wasn’t too dry and very flavourful and the kids very much enjoyed their chocolate and walnut brownies. Will definitely be back! Also they have WEST’s Hefewesien on tap too which is my favourite.

It was a bit quiet, but on a Wednesday night that isn’t really a bad sign. I had a wee chat at the bar with the staff about Hyde bar across the street, apparently the craic is that it might be opening next Thursday, but I don’t think they believe it and neither do I. We took our leave and sat down and perused the extremely funky menu. It was a bit difficult to choose with such delights such as «Cilla black is back in black in a pudding», «Stuffed full to bursting roasted peppers», and«Haddie hannan finny fanon», but it was entertaining reading. I went for Bang and the dirt is gone! — basically Cumberland sausage toad-in-the-hole, and my partner went for the veggie burger. Unusually I didn’t even order a starter. I would be glad I didn’t cos I struggled! Within a quarter hour we had our plates. Mine wasn’t even a plate, it was more like a medium sized casserole dish, it was proper large. In it were 3 or 4 massive Cumberland sausages, about as thick as a toddler’s arm, a giant wodge of mash which more than half-filled the bowl by itself, and all topped off with an onion gravy. Her still generous portion was a burger bun, cucumber(?!) and fries, with a giant flat mushroom in the bun, topped with onions and something else that she can’t quite remember. Apparently it was really nice and plenty filling anyway. Mine was brilliant, hale and hearty, not classy, but tasty, with the Cumberland sausage clearly of good quality, lovely creamy mash and thick, richly flavoured gravy full of sliced onion. Yummm Reviewing this as a pub meal, I have to say it is difficult to get better, the service was really friendly and quick, the food was exactly the kind of thing we were after that night, and the West beer was fantastic as always. I am thinking a high 4, the 5 mark dropped only because the menu although entertaining, isn’t gastro-pub ambitious. Great though!

I love The Butterfly and Pig in Bath Street. Was thrilled to see they had moved into The former Bruadar. Same fantastic menu as their sister in the city centre. Good service and the food I had this evening was excellent. I had beetroot soup, followed by my favourite of the black pudding, bacon and apple salad. Nice selection of beers.

I have to say I was rather disappointed, The Butterfly and Pig in the city is one of my go to places to take friends for food or drinks and I wouldn’t say the same thing for this branch. They could have done a much better job at removing the left overs from the previous residents with signs still there from the previous inhabitants. Next up the tap choices are terrible. The only beer they had on that was worth having was West’s heffweisen, They just had too many empty taps and too much empty fridge space. They need to up their game to get in the West end drinkers. My friend had a slice of cake with her drink but was horrified at the price when she went to pay. Perhaps they need to re-think their pricing there too. On the plus side the service was great. The girl behind the bar was very polite and efficient. The casual seating area was comfy and friendly. Only time will tell if they can do a better job in this location the their predecessors. I will endeavour to re-review on my next visit to Glasgow.

I was excited to visit the new branch of The Butterfly and the Pig at Partick Cross. Its previous incarnations were good and I always feel it’s a bit of a shame this little corner of the West End seems to often be overlooked so I’m hoping the B&P is here to stay! I came here for food and drinks with a friend. There was a little bit of confusion with the seating; I hadn’t reserved a table so I asked at the bar what to do if we were having food, and I was told we could sit anywhere. However as I approached a table at the tiered eating area, another member of staff came over, asking if I had reserved a table. I replied no, but repeated what the bar staff had said. This waiter then told me this wasn’t the case, that all the tables were booked but once one became available, he would let me know. Not a big deal, just a little confusion and probably down to some teething problems which will no doubt iron out over time(they’ve only been open about a week!) We only waited 20 mins for a table and were quickly refilled with drinks and our orders taken. My friend and I both opted for the beef burgers, mine with brie & bacon, hers with cheddar and onion. A mix-up in the kitchen meant the toppings got switched around, so the waitress apologised and took the burgers back to be changed. In the mean time the waitress asked if we would like some complimentary cava by way of apology for the mix up/added wait! It was such a lovely touch, considering it wasn’t a big problem and we were happy to wait. This just demonstrates how attentive the staff were. Once our burgers arrived, they were absolutely delicious; burger was juicy and the toppings worked perfectly. The bun disintegrated a little so it could have done with being toasted, but this was a minor issue with such a delicious burger! A shout-out to the chips are needed here as well, so wholesome and tasty! We also tried to make a dent in their fantastic cake selection, I had a gorgeous chocolate and walnut brownie that I couldn’t finish(there must be something wrong with me!) and my friend had a doorstop sized slice of carrot cake. The prices are pretty good as well; 2 courses &3 drinks each came in at just over £40 which is pretty good in terms of West-End prices! Overall I am impressed, aside from a few niggles which I reckon will fix themselves over time, I think this is a fab new addition to the West End and I’ll definitely be back :)

Off to a great start, the westend offshoot of the Butterfly and Pig on Bath Street is a welcome addition to Partick Cross. Still finding its feet, and not yet fully remodelled from the previous Bruadar(and it’s short lived successor) I have my fingers crossed that it wins favour of west-enders. The beer selection is somewhat limited at the moment, so that knocks a star off. Another review once I’ve eaten there, which I hope is soon
