I pop in here from time to time with colleagues for a spot of Friday lunch as they do a lunch deal for a fiver. I was in a couple of weeks ago and had the Pizza Amatriciana(tomato sauce, pancetta, red onion, chillis and parmesan shavings) and it was delicious! It has no mozzarella and is thus a little lighter on the calories. It somehow tastes more authentic than other options. The lack of additional moisture means the base stays crispy; I’ve tried a fair whack of the pizzas on the menu here and this is, by far, my favourite. It’s normal price is £8.95 so you can’t knock the deal! Also, you don’t feel like you need a lie down afterwards!

Time for an update and I’m happy to say still a solid 4 stars from me. I was back in for the £4.95 lunch deal as a group of 8. The staff are friendly and efficient, explaining the specials, taking drinks orders etc promptly. The choice of food on the lunch deal is excellent, pastas, any pizza from the al a carte menu, sandwiches, burgers, ribs. They can do any pasta dish with gluten free pasta too. I went for the carbonara that was lovely and creamy and contained a generous amount of bacon. I left with a happy tummy!

Man, that risotto hit the spot. I was craving it and Tony Macaroni’s was exactly what I needed(despite the silly restaurant name :)). Very fast service around lunch time, as they’re not very crowded — and the Prezzo short menu is very good value.

After getting let down with a booking at The Merchant across the road, we went into this restaurant and were so pleased that they had. The food was absolutely delicious! OK, I asked them to alter my choice slightly and it was mixed up. I would have eaten what they had given me, as it looked lovely but they came and apologised and was given the meal requested. The choice of food is amazing and a very nice, bright restaurant to have a meal in. Our waiter was very pleasant, as was the manager and we will definitely go back. We were even given out large glasses of wine free, at the end. Highly recommend.

For an after work meal, with 7 of us I couldn’t think of a better place to go as before 6pm their Prezzo menu, every course is £4.95! The list of items to choose from is vast and so much variety, great value for money. We were seated at a lovely big booth right next to the window and ordered our drinks. Everyone chose their meals from the menu pretty quickly(as we had looked at the menu before coming out) so we all knew what we wanted. I opted for the chicken burger with salad and chips and when it came, it was HUGE! My colleagues ordered the burger, lasagna salmon and the ribs(which were smothered in a fab sauce and were falling off the bone!). My food was boiling when It came, to hot to even eat, which I like for me there is nothing worse than cold food. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal and were left feeling full and satisfied and it didn’t break the bank! My only gripe is that their dessert menu, the items costed more than the mains so we gave that a swift pass. I feel that this is a trick missed, if they had a separate dessert menu for anyone who orders on that particular menu for around £2.50 everyone would have got something.

I visited here with my other half on 4÷5÷15 for a spot of lunch and was more than impressed! The servers were excellent and very well mannered and courteous, we chose from the tapas menu which are £3.95 each or 3 for £10.95. Each dish we chose was well made, presented very nicely and tasted delicious! There is an excellent choice on the menu and with my other half being pescatarian, she sometimes finds the choices in the veg and fish area somewhat limited but Tony Macaronni had a great selection. I would highly recommend coming here!

The £5 lunch and early dinner deal is a real steal I’ve always been reticent to go to Tony Mac’s, deciding it’s populist and run of the mill. And I suppose it is, but I’m glad I decided to tug my head out of my @ss, coz it’s actually pretty good ‘run of the mill’. I’m not saying I’d have missed out if I’d passed and went to Sarti or anything, but I’d have been a wee bit poorer and for a Fiver you can’t complain. Chicken schnitzel(or Milanese Polo), pizza, pasta, risotto, pork chop, fungi, etc…, all on the menu and all largely portioned! And it’s no surprise that Friday lunchtime is hoachin’, in fact the food isn’t bad at all. Both of us were pleasantly surprised :-) I opted for the pork chop which came with chips and peppercorn sauce and K opted for Milanese Polo con pasta arrabiata. Both meat dishes were super succulent and pretty darn tasty. And as you do, I couldn’t help drooling and glancing over at next door’s pizza. Next time Steven, next time :-)
