Now normally i avoid hyped places, because honestly they never live up to it. However, after listening to numerous people telling me this is the place to have breakfast in Glasgow i decided to give it a try. First impression were good, nice little café vibe. We were quickly seated and ordered what we wanted. This is were it all went downhill, When the food arrived, both of our poached eggs were overcooked. To me that is a basic thing, which i can’t forgive. The place wasn’t even busy, sure it tasted fine. Was it worth the £8.99? Sadly not! Would i go back? I doubt it, there is numerous places offering better at a cheaper price.

I visited Tribeca for the first time with the good lady following a tip off from a mutual friend.(He likes his grub so his recommendations are not usually ignored!) First impressions were good in that it was busy(really busy), we were seated quickly and it was all clean and tidy. After about 10 minutes our drinks order was taken but not our food order. This struck me as a bit weird considering we had been looking at the menu for all of those minutes and said menus were sitting closed in the middle of the table, that well known international symbol for«We are ready to order» The drinks arrived a short while later but still no food order was taken until another 10 minutes after the drinks had arrived. You’re probably thinking«Why didn’t you prompt the staff to take an order?» And you’re probably right. The truth is though that this was one of those very rare days when we had nowhere else to be so we’re happy to sit around and chat. Anyway after a wait of about 40 or so minutes the food, Manhatten breakfast and an ommlette, arrived and it was… Ok… No complaints. It tasted good and there was plenty of it at a reasonable price. Same couldn’t be said for the drinks though as another order wasn’t taken until the food was served. Seems to be a missed trick as I would have had a few drinks if asked which is all money in the till. Having said all of the above it should not be taken to relect badly on the staff. They were absolutely top notch. There just wasn’t enough of them. So would I go back? Yes. Mind you only if I was passing and definitely not if I was in a hurry!

I decided to go back to TriBeCa as I wasn’t convince the first time I went but definitely won’t be returning again. We were second in the queue and waiting for a table for 4 and the people in front of us were a 3. The guy in charge told them he’d push two tables in the middle for them however a party of 4 were about to leave so they asked to take that place instead. So you’d think that by being next in line they’d give us that middle table but instead gave it to two couples after us in the line which in our head was unfair so we questioned them about it. We were met with a moody and aggressive waitress who even said ‘for godsake’ when we asked her about it. I have a business which is customer facing and would be appalled if I heard one of my staff speak to my customers in that manner. I understand that it was busy and hectic but that does not give you the right to speak to customers like that. It turns out that another table of four were about to leave which is why they didn’t want to put us in the middle but if they had taken the time out to explain that to us we wouldn’t have felt like the two couples behind us were jumping the queue. We finally got seated, I ordered a 5 egg omelette and a peach passion smoothie. My smoothie arrived and when I tasted it, it, it had a weird peanut taste which was worrying to me because I have a PEANUTALLERGY! My friend got a snickers milkshake but you’d think with peanut allergies being fairly common they’d have a separate jug for that alone. They did not. I spoke to the guy who was in charge and questioned him on this and he said that they only have 2 blenders so it is likely they used the same one for my smoothie which obviously wasn’t washed out properly. I couldn’t believe it! Some people have much more severe allergies than me which can lead to them having an anaphylactic shock from the smallest trace. He then came over to me to ask me if putting the jugs in boiling water wasn’t enough, the manner he spoke to me felt like he was telling me off for being allergic, I understand he wanted my feedback to improve upon their processes but it felt like I was getting interrogated more than anything. He asked me if they should have separate jugs for the peanut ones and I said yes, I would have thought that this would have been something already put in place and shocked find out that it isn’t considering they have been open for years now! There is no where on the menu which states that the fruit smoothies would contain nuts or that the same jugs are used to warn people of this. I also was disappointed with my omelette as it was overcooked, it wasn’t light and fluffy so I just ate the ingredients within it and also there were bits of eggshell that made its way in. Aggressive and unsympathetic staff along peanut laced smoothies and below average food is somewhere I will not be visiting again. I don’t usually leave reviews for just bad service but this incident could have been very serious for someone who has a bad allergy to peanuts and I feel that it should be further looked into to avoid any unfortunate incidents.

A lovely American style Restaurant with a gorgeous bar counter! The omelet here is a must try. However, every omelet contains 5 eggs and is super big, I can only finish 1⁄3 of it myself.

A lot of hype for little return. Me and my sister came down for brunch on the 4th of July(seemed fitting). Although it was full, we got seated very quickly. However, we waited a while for our order to be taken and even longer for our drinks. Food arrived fairly quickly. I ordered the manhattan breakfast and she opted for the pancakes. Coffee and milkshakes were both nice but the food not so much. The bacon was rubbery, my poached eggs over cooked and there was still pieces of egg shells and I had to ask for mustard three times before it was brought over. The pancakes were also dissapointing. Don’t think I will be rushing back!

Just awful. We felt a craving for pancakes and decided to give this a go. I ordered eggs benedict and my husband ordered the Brooklyn. We had coffees beforehand and they were some of the worst we’ve had in a very longtime. When the food finally came out after 45+minutes my benedict was missing hollandaise. I asked the server where it was and she went to ask the chef. She came back to say«sorry we don’t have any». What? Why serve the sad benedict to me at all? I got pancakes instead and they were lacking too. A overall sad breakfast. We left feeling like we needed to find another breakfast place so we could have a decent breakfast.

Had a lovely brunch today so didn’t have to queue like make others, staff very attentive and food served very quickly. I had the eggs Benedict which was lovely(but the bagel was a little thick for my personal liking). Loved the hot chocolate complete with cream and marshmallows.

One of those places you’re «supposed to like» Not impressed. I’d imagine this place is recommended a lot for being«different» but in reality I didn’t enjoy the extra effort required. Food was ok, can’t fault it really. Place is too small, always busy at times you’re likely to go. Service was very unfriendly, to the point we left the exact money and got out quickly because we’d waited so long for the bill.

Generally Tribeca is busy and often you have to wait. I used to really like this place but recently I’ve not really liked the French toast, which used to be my favourite. Service is usually ok. It’s a small place so can feel a little claustrophobic. It’s one of the few diner type places in Glasgow, however there are more and more opening up.

Ive heard loads about this place, so much so my partners been on at me to visit for ages. So on Sunday we decided to head over for lunch. I knew it was popular but i wasn’t expecting a queue like that. 45 min wait in the freezing cold. If it wasn’t for the distance i just came id have left and went elsewhere. But eventually we got inside to then be used as a door stop because it was getting too smokey inside. We got seated… Crammed next to the 2 overly lovely dovey couples we’d been standing with in the queue. We were that close the guy next to me was using our salt and pepper because he thought it was on his table. The service was prompt, too prompt in fact, literally had seconds to pick what we wanted. What i initially wanted was a lovely steaming hot chai latte because it was cold but no. They ran out. I then just went with ye old faithful diet coke because she had already whipped the menu from my hands. We both got the pancakes because we heard they were amazing. I got bacon, she got chocolate and strawberries. £1.95 for extras each is a bit steep for the amount you get. But alas, they arrived after 10 mins. My eyes bulged out my head when i seen how big these pancakes were. No way on earth was i finishing that. 3 large thick pancakes with 2 measly wee bits of dried up bacon on top. If it wasn’t for the syrup id have chocked to death on the dryness of these things. The pancakes had no taste, quite bitter in fact and dare i say it not cooked in the middle. The first pancake was fine. But under it were too semi-raw pancakes. Cooked on the outside and gooey on the inside. I stopped eating after that. Once our cutlery was down the bill was put in front of us. And asked if we’d like to take the left overs home. Nah think ill pass. Once we stood up someone was already at our backs to be seated. Overall, the service wasn’t great, the food wasn’t fully cooked. Its over priced and overrated. Its not a place i’d visit again. I gave 1 star because i liked the interior.

Tribeca is seen as the Holy Grail of breakfast/brunch establishments in the west end. I had listened to people rave about it for yonks before I took the plunge and got a birthday breakfast down here with my friend last year. My first experience was great. Got fluffy, fresh pancakes smothered in syrup and topped off with bacon rashers. Washed them down with tea. Loved my meal and still felt envious of my friend’s full English which, unfathomably, looked even better. Paid up; left feeling satisfied. What more could a girl ask for? Of course i returned! Great service, smashing scran — you would. So it’s with a heavy heart that I deliver the news — it wasn’t that great second time round. The food was still amazing, and the girls serving us were still lovely. But they forgot our order. We waited an hour. We were ravenous. We had to ask three times before it eventually came. And they forgot my boyfriend’s bacon but still charged him the extra money for it! I do not like to complain about food. We’re so fortunate to be drowning in restaurants in Glasgow at the moment. The café scene is always evolving to become better, stronger, to include local sources. So service that falls short of a certain level tends to stand out. The people serving us could not have been more apologetic. We got a discount because, after being a barista and doing customer service for a decade, I know how to complain. When you complain, take into consideration how rushed off your feet people are when they’re serving you, and all the rudeness they have to sustain. Working in hospitality should be mandatory as a rights of passage, because it’s relentless and not always rewarding(even in a swell place like Tribeca). I’m still in customer service and if you’re an inflated, pompous git you’ll not get anywhere with me. So I really don’t like having a whinge, but things went wrong in here that day. And waiting an hour and a half for food is a bad impression, especially when you’ve raved to your partner about this place for weeks! In the end we got a discount, sincere apologies, and the poached egg/salmon combo was incredible. The girls who work in here are truly lovely, and I would give it another bash on those accounts. But being looked over for 90 minutes while other customers blithely dine is a disappointment.

I’m not going to lecture you(se) guys about American diners. Go watch Guy Fieri do it while unceremoniously cramming food into his gaping maw on Food Network. You’ll get the idea. Basically, there is a level of happiness which one can only achieve by packing in mounds of greasy fried comfort food after a night of heavy drinking with friends. TriBeCa is obviously trying hard to convince you that it was conceived by the very same greasy loins as the aforementioned diners. Otherwise standard cocktails are given«American» names, the fridge is stocked with beers you’re unfortunately limited to in most American establishments, and there’s a New York City cop car and cab parked out front. It’s cute, I suppose. I went with my wife for dinner. The menu is limited to starters, burgers, and pancakes. We shared the chili nachos and buffalo wings. The nachos were lacking some of the promised toppings, and were loaded with«chili beef», which amounted to piles of unflattering chunks of hamburg. It was like a deconstructed hard-shell taco without any of the seasoning. The wings were large and quite tasty, but if you’re going to call something«buffalo wings» you’re setting up expectations. I could have poured Frank’s Red Hot on my fist and been closer to actual buffalo wings than this mild, saucy pile of LIES. Then came the mains: a steak burger and fries for her, and pancakes and eggs for me. She said the fries were soggy and the burger was okay, but the toppings were shoddy. I ate about two-thirds of my food. The eggs were fine. The pancakes were massive. They were almost like pound cake: thick, and kind of sweet(like I like my men?). Definitely should’ve asked for more syrup, as the pancakes absorbed every last drop like a sponge. Butter might have cut the sweetness as well. It just became a bit too much to handle after a while. The service was great — yet another mark against providing an authentic American diner experience! It really is a quaint little hole in the wall. The kitchen was in such close proximity you could hear the cooks’ choice of electronica at war with the radio station playing in the main part of the restaurant. The«blizzards» look quite good. Were I not so full I would have tried one. No other dessert offered, but you get a plate of Jelly Bellies with your bill. Naturally, this turns into a battle for the few decent flavours, leaving behind some of the most unsavoury concoctions known to man. Well, except for the cinnamon ones, which you’ll always mistake for cherry, and hate yourself afterwards. Capital try, Scots, but the fare at TriBeCa only comes off as American diner food filtered through an extensive game of «telephone». If you want a more accurate representation of American food, go to T.G.I. Friday’s. Not saying you’ll get quality, but you’ll get what’s on the tin, anyway. Another review for another day, perhaps. I’d stay away from this place for dinner, though.

Ah, disappointment thy name is Tribeca. Little G(who is 4) is off on a Friday and commanded that a day such as today required pancakes. Being young she was happy to go to the Golden Arches but I persuaded her we should try somewhere a bit nicer. Facebook duly consulted, we trotted off to Tribeca. So first off, we sat by the window and it was pretty chilly there. Secondly, the huge plates are cutesy for sure but poorly considered when they have to be sat on tiny tables. G ordered a pancake and got *one* pancake which we were assured was the last of the day. It had definitely not been made fresh and wasn’t warm enough to melt her Nutella. Other than that, she loved it and it was definitely a gorgeous thick pancake. I ordered the French toast with bacon on the side. Three HUGE doorstop-thick slices of French toast with a jar of syrup, and two skimpy slices of bacon. For not far off a tenner, I expected a better bread-bacon ratio but in fact I think the French toast lost a little quality with being so thick. I could barely cut the edges they were so hard although the inner part was lovely and fluffy. The service was really excellent, I was so chuffed that our server made an effort to talk directly to G and as a parent that meant a lot. This place could be really great but for me the food quality just wasn’t there.

OK, first off, I still love Tribeca and will continue to be a customer there, but today I wasn’t as enamoured with my experience as I usually am. It was a spur of the moment decision to go for lunch with my husband and sister earlier today, and as expected it was quite quiet and our food, once ordered, arrived quickly. Before I go into the rest of my experience, my initial thought for checking into Unilocal was to write that I really must try the amazing looking salads one day, but the all day Manhattan Grand Slam always wins out! Unfortunately, it turns out I had more to say. My biggest peeve was for my husband. G asked if there was any big mugs for tea(he’s a total tea jenny) and the waitress said she would bring a large teapot for him. She didn’t, and with no explanation at all(and like I said it was quiet and the order came so quickly it wasn’t likely she’d forgotten) she gave him a small teapot and even smaller cup. He even remarked his mug at home was bigger than the teapot but she never acknowledged this at all. Worst even then, was the fact the tea spout was badly chipped and had been obviously used since there was tea staining on the coarse porcelain. I mentioned this to a passing waitress and she just smiled and said ok. As a former waitress I would have offered a change of pot straight away and at least apologised, so I was surprised this wasn’t done, it seemed so obvious to me. My own order wasn’t without issue either. I had asked(twice) if they had orange and lemonade and was given pure OJ. I had considered asking why but ended up just drinking anyway it as I was thirsty! Still I was shocked when I was £3.50 for it! Like I mentioned before, I ordered the Grand Slam breakfast and requested poached eggs and crispy bacon, no toast. The waitress left before I could also ask for my coffee which comes with the breakfast, but decided to leave it until after breakfast then forgot. The bacon was lovely as expected, but the poached eggs were solid so I left most of it, I stab my yolks straight away and like a runny yolk but these were cooked though and plasticy. Finally, my sister and G noted that although the burgers have been celebrated by many recently they were nothing special(cheeseburger and chilli burger respectively) and the fries were the best part of the meal. I do so hope this was an anomaly of an experience as I do so love it usually, but today(even with being in the best mood EVER for other, unrelated reasons of awesomeness), I was quite sad to find the bloom off the rose.

I’m sure I’m one of the few people left in Glasgow who hasn’t tried Tribeca, and finally made my way there for lunch. At first, I was impressed. The place is nicely decorated after the recent refurb and has some interesting prints on the wall. Menus were in front of us when I arrived although they are very worn and tattered — maybe some new ones are in order? I ordered the buttermilk pancakes after hearing so much about these and was impressed to be asked whether I wanted the bacon crispy(yes, of course, it’s the only way to eat bacon). The meals arrived shortly after we ordered. And I mean shortly — maybe 5 minutes, 10 at the most. There was a large stack of three very puffy pancakes in front of me, a couple of slices of bacon and a jar of maple syrup. Now, I’ve eaten a lot of pancakes in my time. I was disappointed that these didn’t have a hint of being freshly cooked — they were warm and doughy in the middle rather than being piping hot. I think maybe they’d been cooked and reheated. The bacon a strange flavour, like it had been cooked on a grill with a burger(and not in a good way). And the maple syrup was incredibly runny, like water, rather than a thick drizzly consistency that you’d normally expect. It really wasn’t to my taste but I know a lot of people really like Tribeca, so maybe it’s me, not them. Our plates were cleared and then shortly after the manager came over with two more meals — nope, we’ve already eaten. Our bill was then delivered to the table next to us — nope, that’s ours thanks. It came to around £10 each with a drink and I was pleased to be on my way.

TriBeCa, home of the biggest pancakes I’ve yet to encounter — and the tastiest too. The go to place for myself and the other half, usually on a weekend afternoon after a night on the town. Their scran is a hangover cure not to be laughed at. Last time we went I opted for the pancakes — of course with bacon as an extra side. I’ve had the pancakes before and this time they were notably smaller, which is a good thing really as before I’d found them to be so big they were almost a turn off. Fluffy on the inside, well cooked(none of that doughy, raw stuff) and accompanied with a jar of maple syrup(a good size too). The other half had the eggs florentine — and I have to say, I looked on in envy as she ate every last bite. Big portion, cooked to perfection. In the past I’ve had the omelettes — the Greek one being the best. I’d recommend you go with an appetite as these beasts are not a force to be reckoned with. The milkshakes known as ‘blizzards’ are great too, practically a meal in itself(but that has yet to stop me having one to accompany my food). The service is great. The staff are always chatty and helpful without being too intrusive. All in all, TriBeCa is great value, big portions and a tasty take on American grub.

Popped in here today for a wee spot of lunch. My first visit here, and definitely won’t be my last. I opted for a chilli infused burger topped with just cheese for me, and my girlfriend chose the classic burger with no cheese. Both served quickly, and with HUGE amounts of fries in a small bucket! I liked that idea a lot! For drinks, I had a Bounty blizzard ice cream shake — very nice, very big, very un-finishable! The lady had a berry smoothie, and said it was delicious. Highly recommended on both counts and very reasonably priced for the size of them. Quick word on the staff — extremely friendly, extremely helpful. We asked a question about the content of one of the smoothies, and they did their best to find out the answer. Helpful without being pushy or overly«lurky» if that’s a word. And if it’s not, it should be! The location is handy, just a short jaunt from Kelvinbridge underground station, and well served by several bus stops and the setup itself if pleasant without being overbearing. I did like the look of the humungous omellete… must go back to try that in the future. No blizzard though. That thing needs it’s own postcode! :)

I used to go here when first opened as love a good American breakfast and this was one of the only places in Glasgow selling that type of food. Went back last sat after I had heard it had been refurbished. Even though it has been spruced up… you still need to be aware of one thing… only go here of you haven’t eaten in a week!!! The portions are MASSIVE! I have been to America a lot and I think Tribeca has the biggest breakfasts I have ever saw. I ordered one of their 5 egg omelettes and couldn’t finish a third of it. It tasted amazing but too much. My mate had the pancakes and bacon… was also massive. 3 huge fluffy pancakes. Actually, I would have gave it 5 stars but to be honest, the portions are too big. When I looked round the café, no one had finished their breakfast. I think they should give people more choices… maybe just a 3…4 egg omelette and maybe 2 massive pancakes instead of 3. Saying that, I will go back… once I feel hungry again!

Popped in here for brunch. The new décor is an improvement but it’s still quite cramped for space. The food is dependable, and my eyes got the better of me in ordering the enormous MeatPacker, 5 egg omelette! It’s a beast! Well cooked, although one end had all the meat so I struggled when I got to the mostly egg part, definitely couldn’t finish it though but they’ll happily box up your leftovers :) Coffee was good, if not spectacular, and the berry smoothie was delicious! Always a busy place so getting a table can be down to luck(tip: they have blankets ready for anyone sitting outside), a good dependable eatery.
