Despite our group having an AirBnB in the foodie heaven that is Finnieston, we ended up trekking over to Cafezique in Partick for a late brekkie on our first ‘morning after the night before’. On approach, the street didn’t really look as though it’d feature a stylish café for brunchers, but we found them on the corner of Hyndland St and White St looking inviting in the sunshine. We’d built up quite the appetite from our walk over so dived on the menus. It’s a light, airy and relaxed space, with a mezzanine overlooking the main floor. We sat by the large windows at the front. It was busy, but not cramped. I ordered their Big Breakfast, all of which was delicious, the only comment being I found the black pudding to be a tad too crumbly — I’m by no means an expert, it was just tricky to get on to the fork. The poached eggs were done to perfection and the sausages were terrific. Recommended for a decent breakfast if you’re in the area — they’re only a 20 minute walk away from the Botanic Gardens if you’re on your way there(which we were).

I have been to Cafezique for dinner and brunch. I enjoyed everything that I’ve had there. This is a great place to go for any occasion as they do breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have a great selection of cakes so you can even just go for tea and a cake. It isn’t the cheapest of places however I do believe all of their food is of a very high standard.

I’ve developed a bit of an obsession of eating out for breakfast and I have heard good things about here so decided to see what the fuss was about. Staff were really nice when I arrived and let me choose where I wanted to sit. I decided to order the big breakfast with avocado added in. It was lovely and the poached eggs were cooked perfectly and the tattie scone was massive. The only issue I had was I asked for it without mushroom and it came with it and they forgot my black pudding. I’d definitely go back though.

Finally got a table in Cafezique last Saturday, around 1:30pm. I ordered the special burger and it is one of the eat burgers I’ve ever had, if not the best! It had some toppings on it that I can’t quite recall but the burger itself just had a phenomenal taste to it. I would have had dessert too but I was too full. I love the ambience there and the windows are great for people spotting. I had a pint of the Sam Smith’s beer(or Sam adams, whichever the beer is I had that one.) And it’s lovely stuff. If you can get a table here, I can’t recommend it highly enough!

Hmm, guess it was just me having a bad day but I did not enjoy the visit to the Café. Easter Friday, middle of the afternoon, upstairs, what can go wrong with a BLT… well it was all T and when you cast the excess aside there wasn’t much left. Disappointing. Companions were happy with their meals

Came here at the weekend for a breakfast to line the stomach before the rugby after hearing a lot of good things(and also walking past every single day!). I wasn’t left disappointed. Having walked past every weekend, this place is always mega busy, and this Saturday wasn’t any different. Despite this we luckily got a seat quickly, though it was a bit cramped for the 4 of us. The breakfast menu has quite a lot of options on it, with some of the egg dishes sounding pretty tasty. As we’re all greedy, we went for the full breakfast which came with 2 eggs, 2 bacon rashers, beans, a big potato scone, toast, black pudding, tomato and mushroom. Despite it being very busy, the food arrived very quickly. Coffees were very tasty, as was the fresh orange. The breakfast itself was brilliant, everything tasted amazing. The bacon in particular was outstanding. I’d come back here for sure for the breakfast, will have to come again to try the dinner menu.

It is with some disappointment that I have to give Café Zique a mere three stars. I used to live around the corner from this place, and when I moved in I thought«Well, that’s the local sorted», but it wasn’t to be. Firstly, it looks great and the space is really charming. You walk past and you are immediately drawn to the place. Secondly, the place is always full on a weekend. You can’t argue with that, can you? If the food was poor, people would vote with their feet. So, why did I leave Café Zique feeling pretty underwhelmed? I have to admit, I was expecting a proper hearty Scottish Breakfast and that is kinda what I got. But when you shell out best part of £10, you don’t expect to leave hungry, which I did. Also, if I pay £1.50 for a side portion of baked beans, it would be nice to get a «portion» and not a small dish with two spoonfuls of beans in. I should point out that the service was friendly and didn’t betray any sense of stress at the number of customers who were waiting for food(the place was hoaching), and the coffee was and continues to be excellent. Expectations can be a funny thing, and it feels like as soon as you go in expecting X, you are disappointed when you get Y. I am sorry to say I left feeling decidedly«meh» about Café Zique.

This was my first time(though I’ve been meaning to come for a long time). It was very busy and we had to wait for a table, but I was expecting that and the wait wasn’t long. We sat at the bar and had drinks whilst we looked at the menu. The seating is pretty tight and its a busy, buzzing place. I had Eggs Royale and my partner had Eggs Benedict. They tasted excellent with perfectly cooked eggs and hollandaise sauce. Unfortunately, the food was just lukewarm and cold pretty quickly, which was such a shame as it tasted so good. Another slight gripe, and I feel churlish for mentioning it, but I asked if the Orange juice was fresh and the waitress said yes. At £3 for a glass I felt that was ok for freshly squeezed juice. However, I soon realised it was from a carton. I also noticed that the glasses were packed with large ice cubes, meaning that there was probably less than 100ml of juice. I asked if I could have less juice but when it was brought it was, indeed, packed full of juice. So, I found that disappointing and overpriced for what it actually was. I’ll definitely return, hopefully when it is a little quieter. The lunch menu sounded so appetising and they clearly cook fresh and use excellent, quality ingredients. The wine list is also good.

I hadn’t been in here for ages, but the chance to catch up with my big sis for brunch was a suitable occasion to try again. The layout seems very cramped in general, especially in the upstairs mezzanine bit, but luckily it was pretty quiet so we managed to find a table without problem. I wasn’t overly impressed with the lunch menu as it didn’t meet my dietary needs. It’s okay for veggies but most things had cheese of some sort in them so if you have problems with dairy your options are pretty limited. Luckily the all-day breakfast/brunch options are quite extensive. After pondering over the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon option, I eventually plumped for the eggs royale — basically eggs Florentine with organic smoked salmon and a massive nest of what appeared to be spinach. Jolly tasty it was too, although I did think it was a trifle over-priced at £8.75. I finished with an Americano, and my sister tempted me into a slice of polenta cake, which was very nice. The coffee was okay, not particularly outstanding. I still don’t ‘get’ the popularity of Cafezique; to me it comes across as over-priced, over-crowded and over-trendy. It will never be a regular haunt for me, but it’s nice once in a while.

Decent cappuccinos, delicious cakes, and a list long choice for eggs benedict. From the servers, manager, kitchen workers, all are friendly faces with a sweet disposition. For brunch, I had the crab eggs(eggs benny w/crab meat). I was slightly disappointed when it came out because there wasn’t much sauce and the crab was hard to make out. But when I did get a bite of the crab meat, it was deliciously fresh and briny with a textured bite. The muffin part is akin to a sourdough base and comes embedded with poppy seeds. I was impressed that they do a crab eggs benedict in the first place, after having tasted it I can say Im impressed with the quality of crab. For dessert, was the New York cheesecake. I have had many cheesecakes in my day, and this one was the most unique version of it. It was much more crumbly than creamy. more cottage cheesy & ricotta instead of cream cheese. I can’t say I really liked it but I appreciated it tasted finely made from scratch. Cappuccino was good and we had a lovely afternoon munching away while catching up. Caught a glimpse of a crab pasta for lunch, eyeing that one for the next time around!

My husband and I absolutely love this place! It’s our favourite place to go for brunch. The food is just incredible and such good quality. They make a real effort to serve organic and generally great quality produce and you can certainly taste the difference. The place has a really good atmosphere and the staff are friendly! I’ll always be here at least once a week for my poached eggs, salmon and toast :)

Decided on the Glasgow fair Monday to catch up with my friend and treat her to a wee tea and cake. Zique always has a great range of cakes available but there wasn’t as many on display this day for some reason. I ended up going for just some shortbread, which was lovely and buttery. My friend had a white chocolate and raspberry Blondie, which she thoroughly enjoyed. But with two very small cakes, one cup of earl gray and a pink lemonade costing me £10! I thought it was a little over priced for what we got.

Brunch, brunch, brunch and this is a top brunch stop. Warning, it fills up fast. By 10.30 on a Sunday morning there was a queue. The tables are close together, but not overly so. As in the waiters had enough space to get past without ever having to ask us to move our seats. The upstairs is my kind of place, perfect for people watching and with fairy lights! For brunch I had eggs benedict with salmon, the hollandaise and poached eggs were both perfection. A really nice americano to accompany it! My only very slight niggle was that they don’t have any syrups for lattes, but that’s it. The service and food were both eggcellent: P

A few years ago before I moved to Glasgow(from America via a 3-year stint in Edinburgh) Cafezique was recommended to me by a(foodie-)trusted colleague. Before I had even ventured out to my neighbourhood eateries in my then home in Dennistoun, I made the trek to Hyndland to visit Cafezique and it was love at first bite! The menu at Cafezique fuses Mediterranean styles and flavours with pure comfort. There’s a range of menu options from small bites to proper meals so it’s great for a light bite and a bottle of wine but also for a dinner with friends. Wine drinkers will be happier than the beer-only members of the group, but the options for both beverages are always tasteful with just enough variety to catch just about everyone. I’d say one of the stronger qualities of the restaurant is its excellent taste — and I’m not just saying that because it’s to my taste — genuinely the menu and wine list and layout and service all seem well thought-out by someone who cares about the whole dining experience. There’s limited seating so not great for big groups or prime meal times(better to call ahead for Sunday brunch time or weekends dinner time). For a while this was my go-to anytime I scrounged up the cash to eat out or when the parentals came to visit. I have even recommended holiday housing based on geographic proximity to Cafezique(yes, I am that obsessed). Though it has always been well-received by out-of-towners for food quality and options, the mother is not too keen about the mezzanine seating, which she finds too cramped and a bit too warm positioned over the kitchen. I agree that it’s ideal to get a downstairs table(especially for window-watching creepers like myself) but the cosy upstairs seating where you can smell everything that’s going on in the kitchen and sit elbow to elbow with the next table I find, in THISPARTICUALRCONTEXT, very charming — like a bustling European bistro in a cosmopolitan city in Greece or North Africa or maybe Turkey or southern Spain. Though I don’t want to downplay Cafezique as a neighbourhood foodie spot — it definitely has a notable Glasgowesque atmosphere. I can’t imagine finding quite this combination of features anywhere else in the world. But that’s enough gushing about the look and feel lest I forget THEFOOD! The menu, like any menu for a self-respecting bistro in this town, changes with the seasons, so have a look at their website if you want to see the current offerings. In an effort to explore more places in Glasgow, it’s been a few months since I’ve visited but a go-to or recommendation in the past was a broth-based dish with noodles and pak choi spiced up with a little chilli. I’ve also enjoyed risotto with chicken and broad beans, parmesan polenta chips, eggs josé(with sobrasada YUM!), and anything they do with goat’s cheese. And the cakes! I won’t tell you what to do when it comes to cake, except to try one! Delizique next door is a great option if your priority is cake and you have no patience for the other stuff. While I may wax romantic about Cafezique, perhaps charmed by my early days in Glasgow, it really is a quality eatery and I highly recommend that anyone who loves food give it a try! Happy eating! And let me know if you taste something exceptional on the menu I should try!

stopped by this afternoon for a pint and a few nibbles — the chips with chilli, spring onion, parmesan and something else that I can’t remember were amazing, as was a cheesy melt that we tried. The staff are lovely and friendly, and service was super speedy. Nice atmosphere too — chilled out, without being boring :)

Seeing as how I live steps from this gem, my flatmate, our friend and my guy decided to partake in a bit of brunch after a late night out the night before. I’ve always loved this place and have been here a few times before for breakfast and drinks, but this time was particularly great because of the company i was in. We all had our minds set on a filling breakfast to cure any little ache we had and we were not disappointed. I ordered the full Scottish breakfast, which was complete with haggis and black pudding. I’m still not convinced by haggis, but my guy absolutely loves it and had no issues taking it off my plate. He ordered eggs and hagis with some lovely bread, my flatmate ordered the banana french toast, which looked delicious. Our friend ordered eggs and toast. Seems as though I was the only one who pigged out on the yums, but it was so worth it. This place is cozy and inviting and begs for loads of people to come in. I’ve never eaten a proper lunch or dinner, but their menu is outstanding and I hope to make it there soon to partake. Fab place, check it out!

I’d seen Cafezique mentioned a few times when people mentioned their favourite brunch spots so when the husband and I had a morning to ourselves(my son is allergic to eggs so brunch isn’t his meal of choice) we headed out to try it. First know that parking isn’t great around it right now because of reconstruction going on nearby – not their fault but just be prepared to look a bit for parking. I mistakenly thought it was in Hyndland but this part of Hyndland road is closer to Partick in my book. We came in and were asked to take a seat at the bar while we waited for a table but we weren’t even there long enough to get a drinks order in as a table was cleared and ready for us very quickly. There were some many amazing looking options on the menu with lots of variations on Eggs Benedict but I decided to go for French Toast with Puddledub bacon and Maple Syrup and my husband went for the Big Breakfast. It was busy but our food didn’t take overly long and our coffees were delivered promptly. My French Toast was made with home made bread(they have a deli/bakery next door) and my bacon came super crispy just as I’d ask. There wasn’t a ton of maple syrup(the individual jug was maybe half full) so I dipped my toast into there rather than pouring to make it last longer. Husband’s big breakfast looked amazing with fried eggs with super orange yolks and very high quality sausages and a home made tattie scone. We both scoffed as much as we could but with huge portions we were just short of making the clean plate club. At £21 for two coffees, two breakfast it wasn’t cheap but the ingredients were so fresh and high quality and so well cooked I would whole-heartedly recommend it and come back again. Some of the other hyped brunch places in Glasgow use shop-bought mixes and don’t even come close on quality. I wish we lived closer but Cafezique will be my new go to celebratory brunch place!

Spoiled for choice in the West End, we took to Cafezique for Sunday Brunch at the weekend. As ever, we timed our arrival perfectly to coincide with the busiest part of the day, 1pm on a Sunday. We were offered a stool at the bar to wait and it only took 10 mins for a table to free up, enough time to have a glass of fresh orange and decide what to eat. We were seated upstairs, a small mezzanine area that was a little cramped but not too bad once we got seated. It was very warm though, with the air conditioning unit kicking on and off to give a few minutes of respite now and then. Eggs Benedict for me, Full Scottish for my partner, both of which arrived after a forgivable delay(they were full and the kitchen is tiny). I’d asked for my bacon to be crispy and the obliged, the eggs were poached perfectly, my only criticism was the single half of muffin it was served on. Not only was it not quite enough ‘bread’ to soak up the Hollandaise sauce and egg yolk, I’m not sure it was the freshest as it was a little tough to cut through. Still, the flat white was good, and the Full Scottish was demolished with some relish(I managed to sneak a bite or two, very tasty!). A lot of the produce is locally sourced, and the quality of the ingredients really shines through. The staff were a little on the quiet side with not much interaction but aside from that it was a very tasty brunch. The main downside is the size, it feels a little too crammed in to be comfortable. Aside from that I think we will be back sometime to try some more of the menu.

Unilocal Glasgow’s first brunch club outing went to Cafezique a couple of weekends ago. I was pretty excited as I’d never been here but wanted to try it for ages, and had heard good things. We were able to book a table and the guy on the phone was super friendly and helpful, even the second time I called to add more people on to the booking(such is the popularity of brunch club!). On the day there was 8 of us and they’d reserved us a table downstairs along the wall which was ready as soon as we showed up. The food menu is pretty decent with lots of options if you’re veggie or just like to think about what to have. I couldn’t resist the lure of the big breakfast though — for around £9.90 it came with two poached eggs, two sausages, potato scone, toast, beans, two rashers of bacon, tomato, mushroom and black pudding. I would normally go for eggs benedict, but that was around the £8 mark and for just an extra little bit of money there was all that meat! I couldn’t resist. Cafezique gets super busy on the weekend, but thankfully that didn’t affect the service as there was always staff members around to get more drinks etc while we waited for our food. I don’t remember waiting long for the meals to arrive(quite a few of us went for the big breakfast option!) although there was such good chat so that was a bit distracting. I was pretty excited when it arrived, everything was in generous portions and there were two eggs. One was cooked to perfection, the other was a little over but I have struggled for years to get poachies right so I won’t judge them too harshly for that. Everything on the plate was super tasty — even the black pudding, which I normally avoid. I had a nibble(peer pressure) and actually didn’t mind it but I was totally stuffed by that point. I’d definitely pay here another visit for their breakfast, although I’m not sure I’d try anything else on the menu now I know how good the big breakfast is.
