Was wandering around town with a few friends, feeling hungry so we ducked into the Warehouse. There’s quite a few windows, so it is a relatively bright place, which I like. Overall, I was pretty satisfied. My friends and I shared a bottle of the house red wine(nothing to write home about, but hey wine is better than no wine). We couldn’t decide what we wanted so we ordered 2 pizzas and a sandwich. The pizzas were pretty delicious. The margarita pizza was pretty standard, but good. Our other pizza was quite yummy — it had goat cheese and butternut squash. The sandwich is where they lost me. We ordered salmon, avocado and tomato on ciabatta — which sounded great in theory. In reality, there was no avocado, which let’s face it — — is one of the main reasons for ordering this sandwich. That kind of ruined it for me personally because I’m not the biggest salmon lover to begin with. Anyway, this place is decent. I was happy with the price, the three of us split the bill and it came out to about £11, which is including the wine. If you go, I recommend the pizzas! Hard to mess up anything with cheese, bread and sauce in my opinion.

Located in the old Peckhams, the G1 owned Warehouse has been opened for just under a month. I’ve visited twice so far. First was just for a really quick coke on a flying visit. Tonight though, was a proper leisurely catch up with a friend. And I have to say I like it. A lot. Whenever I’ve passed by during the week it’s been pretty quiet, and during the day at weekends seems to attract a very middle /older aged clientele. However, tonight was different. It was quite busy(but not packed) the entire time we were there — age ranged 25−50ish. The staff were fantastic. Really friendly and helpful. As this was a predetermined(by my friend) cocktail night, we asked for a cocktail menu — the bartender explained they didn’t have one yet but he’d make anything we’d like. I was just going to have a beer(laguanitas IPA and a half dozen other decent beers on tap) — but he talked me into trying a cocktail called The Last Word, which is made of gin, vodka and lime(and something else –I want to say grenadine? but the ingredient escapes me). It was super and very tart. After this, the bartender dug out a cocktail menu from a previous pop up event to give us an idea what to try next. My favourite cocktail of the night was a Sloe Gin Fizz — I could have drank it by the pint it was so good(sloe gin, rum, raspberry /blackberry, and prosseco)! They ran a tab and provided table service with a smile. For 6 cocktails, the bill was £40 — pretty darn good for some awesome drinks in a great location. Although we weren’t eating, the food that was being brought out looked and smelled awesome — and tasted so too, according to the couple at the next table! The only reason this gets a 4 star instead of a 5 is purely down to the weird seating layout. Just didn’t do it for me generally, but the part I was sat at basically ended up blocking other people in.

In the ever popular quest for great brunch joints in Glasgow we happened upon this new place, Warehouse that used to be the large Peckhams on Glassford Street. We quickly perused the menu outside and I spotted a few things that sounded good so we decided to give this place a whirl. Upon entrance I immediately liked the bright, open feel of the place. All the tables are situated along the large windows so(depending what way you’re facing) brilliant for watching the world go by and people watching. We luckily got to choose which table we wanted as there were only a few other folk in so we sat right at the end to the left as you walk in. It was a lovely bright, sunny late morning and this place looked rather stunning bathed in the light. There’s lots of shiny copper(including the bar itself) and big bright walls & funky lights hanging from the ceiling. Although my boyfriend did notice a badly placed ceiling fan that I’m sure was just for show if not then someone would risk possible getting struck on the head by a falling light as the fan would slice right through it! Eek. Haha! Good news here is they do a great Breakfast/Brunch menu, bad news is it’s only served until 12pm. We made it just in time(it was 11:55am!) thankfully… although the guy serving us was nice & I’m hoping, had we asked nicely enough, they still would have served us Brunch slightly after 12pm… We quickly ordered drinks(a bottle of Coke and a flat white) and for eats my boyfriend ordered his usual: Eggs Benedict(£6.95) and I went for the Tomato and Avocado on toast(a great price at £4.50). Our food came pretty quickly and WOW. Mine looked amazing and I couldn’t wait to dig in, then I saw the Eggs Benny WOWEE! That also looked fab. My dish was really tasty; huge big chunks of crushed avocado and chopped fresh tomatoes served on a really lovely THICK slice of toasted bloomer. It also had a good amount of garlic, olive oil, salt & pepper in the mix too making it very similar to what would be one of the tastiest Bruschetta’s I’ve ever had. NOM. I would eat this again quite happily. I tried some of the Eggs Benny & that also blew me away; 2 perfectly poached eggs on what can only be described as some type of magical, delicious, thick shredded ham on toasted muffins and covered in one of the nicest Hollandaise sauces I’ve tried in a while. YUMCITY! So it’s fair to say the food gets a full & hearty 5 stars from the both of us. My coffee was nice, but not particularly special. As for the staff, the 2 guys serving us were very nice(they passed my ‘glass of water’ test!) and the bar itself does look really beautiful. They’re newly opened so there’s, at the moment, nothing downstairs and only the toilets upstairs. Apparently they’re looking into doing something such as hiring out the basement for events and also restarting the Cookery School they used to have here on the 1st floor. So this place has great potential. If only they served their Breakfast/Brunch menu all day or even until 2pm then this place would be a total winner. Shame. Their bar is well stocked and I can imagine they make a mean cocktail. They also serve a nice selection of craft ales & wines so I hear. I will hopefully be back again for brunch and maybe also pop in sometime one evening as it would be a pretty cool venue for a wee after work swally. I just hope they sort that dangerous fan out soon as death by ceiling fan/light wouldn’t be a very nice way to go… ooft.
