What a fantastic staff night out we had here. the food, service and atmosphere was unbelievable!!! I tried a dish called pistatsio(baked macaroni, mince & sauce) it was to die for!!! The owner started greek dancing in the middle of the restaurant and encouraged everyone to join in. I really can’t fault anything with this place. For a great night out at reasonable prices you must try this place!!!

I love greek food. Okay, I love food in general but I have a special place in my heart for Mediterranean food and especially greek. This place has an owner who is a bit nuts. He almost started WW3 with my turkish friend when he decided to get into the politics of Cyprus and Greece but that was shortly diffused with some lovely starters. I loved the quality of the food and the fun atmosphere. When I have visitors this is always on my list of possibilities.

Once again I’m here to talk about Greek Food! Dimitri and Co from Zorba really know how to turn a relatively quiet meal into a full scale riot! DONOT let that put you off, as this only really happens when Dim has had a metaxa too many. The food is always freshly prepared to the highest standards and plenty of it on your plate. My faves are(Prepare to be here for some time) for starters the grilled Haloumi is grilled to perfection, not rubbery like some places. the Dolmades are freshly made and you can have them as a starter or main course, the Garlic mushrooms are huuugge and almost a meal in themselves. for mains i recommend the chicken stroganof served with rice this has been prepared with brandy instead of white wine(the way it should be) if you want something a bit meaty then my other half swears by the Kleftico, a huge hunk of lamb cooked in a clay pot with herbs and spices. they also have a very good vegetarian menu. To top it off you must try the Greek sweets Kaitifi and Baklava served with cream, the Katifi is shredded pastry filled with a sweet paste of spices and ground nuts and the Baklava is layers of pastry filled with pistachios. as for the mayhem, well you may have Dim dragging you up to dance, and he may«dance» you out the back door down a lane then back in the front door(Yes, this has happened) but if you really object to impromptu Greek dance lessons then just say, he will leave you in peace to enjoy your meal but to be honest it is a lot of fun and i would recommend you take some lessons from the true Jedi master of Greek dancing and plate smashing(with tins so no mess to clean up) If you have ever lived in Greece you will find that Zorba captures the mood of the real Greek tavernas which you will find tucked away in the residential area’s of every Greek city and village. This place is a must.

I am with Nicola on this one and can’t believe this little cracker of a place hasn’t been reviewed more! Zorba oozes Greeky goodness from the fabulous food served in very generous portions to the traditional Greek décor including wood beam ceiling to the wonderful hospitality. The staff treat you like you are a family friend visiting their home and the dancing waiter who Nicola mentioned is locally known as the«Crazy Greek» and his aim is to make everyone leave with a full stomach and smile on their face. You can order anything from the menu and you will not be disappointed and also most of the menu is fun to say, for example spanakopita and keftedes! There are a smattering of Italian pasta and pizza dishes as well if nothing Greek takes your fancy. Finally the other Greek restaurant that this family used to own which Nicola also mentioned was called Café Sergei I believe and if you liked that you will love Zorba.

Mwah! Zorba! How I wish I spoke Greek to whisper sweet nothings of my love for you in your native tongue! Zorba is located in the Merchant City. I found this place because they used to own another Greek restaurant in an old bank near the Citizens Theatre — the name escapes me, but it was a wonderful place and I’m still sad that they had to shut it down. All hope was not lost, however, as they moved to become Zorba. The food here is just as delicious as the old location, if not better. Their mousakka is to die for and you may never find mezethes quite so delicious. The main waiter is a riot, he may seem curmudgeonly but wait til he has you up dancing to traditional Greek music! One night he spent about 30 minutes teaching us the moves while the rest of the patrons attempted to pay up and leave before he dragged them to the floor. Plate-smashingly awesome. I cannot recommend it more!

Zorbas is a traditional Greek taverna which in my opinion offers some of the best Greek food I have ever had. Theo the chef is Cypriot and boy is the food mouth watering, the souvlakis and stefados are to die for and even a trusty Greek salad is amazing. There are some excellent deals on eg; lunch 2 courses £5.95 pre-theatre 2 courses £7.95, after 7pm Sun-Thur 2 courses £10(all set menus). House wine is £11 per litre. Dimitries the manager is one of the biggest characters you will meet and certainly knows how to have a party, Friday and Saturday nights are always packed(taverna holds about 55). Dimitries loves to show off his Greek dancing and often the party carries on.
