Cinema Paradiso

Cinema Paradiso (CP) is a mail-​order DVD service much like Netflix or Blockbuster and competes in the UK with LoveFilm (LF). I gave them a try because they’re currently offering a free one month trial (up to four discs) and there were some movies in their system I wanted to see.
While they do have quite a lot of movies and the process for selecting them and adding them to your queue is easy, I found that LoveFilm has a larger selection of movies I want to watch. I was hard pressed to find ten for CP, where I have dozens in my LF queue.
The service is prompt, with receipt of my discs being acknowledged the next day after posting them. The next disc in my queue also arrived quickly.
CP may be for you — if you prefer movies that are part of the «long tail». Most of what I want to watch is new release and LF seems to have a better selection. Also, LF has a free «watch on demand» service with a large number of movies that I did not see in CP.
