While we were living in London, we lived right across the Thames from the Odeon and would walk there to catch a film every now and again. The theater was always clean and comfortable. The staff was polite and competent. All in all, it was always a wonderful movie-watching experience.

I visited the Richmond cinema yesterday with my boyfriend and our friend and we all share the same opinion. The building itself is nice, unfortunately the screen was much smaller than I expected(screen 1). That wouldn’t be too bad, if the lights above our heads weren’t on the whole time! I found that very annoying. I understand that the stairs must be visible, but this was way too bright. Another thing that made me enjoy the movie less was not loud enough sound(and I really hate listening to people eating popcorn). We all know that food/drinks prices are incredibly high in all cinemas, but I am sorry almost 8 pounds for popcorn is just silly. At last, my boyfriend is in Army so he asked if there is any discount with his special ID. There is not, which I would understand if students didn’t get discounts though, absolutely ridiculous! Unfortunately I must say I was disappointed with this cinema. And talking about cinemas in general maybe if the prices were a bit lower, people would not pirate movies so much, don’t you think?

Never got a good vibe with this cinema. have been many times over the years but seem to feel uncomfortable and claustrophobic no matter what screen i watch a film. Too many teenagers working there with very little supervision. Have seen many times, the staff letting big groups of their friends in for free. de values the movie for me but no point complaining as the manager is normally nowhere to be seen. my tip, try another cinema.

This is a very pretty theater inside. You can tell that it has been all redone and modernized. They do lose a star for their seats though. The seat themselves are comfortable but they didn’t leave nearly enough leg room. I am not that tall or big and my knees were crammed into the seat in front. This situation makes the seat extra uncomfortable because then you are constantly getting pushed in the back from the person sitting behind you as well. Thankfully I saw a kids movie so I wasn’t there that long. If it was some epic 3 hour flick though this would have been a huge problem. You pay enough for tickets, they didn’t need to cram so many seats in there. All in all though I had a great afternoon with my little guy at the«cinemar» as he calls it.

The Odeon Cinema in Richmond has two branches — there is the main Odeon Cinema, which is located on Hill Street, just at the top of the road going down to the bridge over the Thames to St Margarets. Round the corner there is also the Odeon Studio, situated in Red Lion Street. The main Odeon Cinema is something of a rarity — an original Cinema building(I think dating from the 1930s). The main screen in particular is something special, it is more like a theatre than a cinema, its décor is very oppulent and there is a huge screen — a great place to watch a film. The other screens(2 on Hill Street and 4 in the Studio) are very small and pokey in comparision.
