Nice pub. I’m away from home and thought I’d check the local pubs without going into the main city. The prices are good and a good selection. The best way to describe it is a spoons with a local feel. The beer selection is good and if you’re a camra member you get discount, which is great The meal I had was nice. I had a steak and it was going to be rare but came out medium rare which I come across a lot. They have sport and friendly staff so all round good.

Nice looking building, something like one of the several older structures in the area. Not the best area, but the beers are cold and the feel is pleasantly old British pub like. Pub like food as well, if you fancy mushy peas and fish n chips which aren’t much to write home about.

I was nearby for a conference, and, seeing as our preferred dining destination was fully booked, we ended up at the Three Magpies. It wasn’t too crowded, there was football showing on the big screen, prices seemed reasonable, and the menu was interesting. For instance, there were Korean chicken wings on the menu, a Korean chicken salad listed under«Classics», strangely enough, and a decently long list of gourmet burgers. I was intrigued and decided to order a wild boar burger with sweet potato chips. We also decided to order a starter of chicken wings. After a half-hour wait, we finally got our food… and, no, it wasn’t quite worth the wait. The chicken wings were decent, but they definitely weren’t Korean. They were just chicken wings with slices of red chillis placed on them. And my wild boar burger? It was just a pork burger. I was a disappointed. The only outstanding thing about my food were the sweet potato chips. The portion sizes were huge, which I suppose would have been a good thing if the food had been better.

I went here with a daughter encouraged by the fact that they serve Cask Marque beer, and seemed like a nice alternative to the hotel restaurants along Bath Road. Well, as the rating suggests, I ended up rather disappointed. The two beers on tap worth mentioning were Hobgoblin and Bombardier, neither of which are really exciting, This could still have been a decent review if the food was good, but the best part of my stew with fries, vegetables and salad was the vegetables and the salad(which was rather nice), and the daughter’s salmon with Asian noodles looked really dull, and apparently lived up to it. The staff was mostly cheerful, if tired looking — we had the misfortune to arrive more or less simultaneously with a ton of members from a group staying at the same hotel as us, and were lucky to get a table.(I was told to expect a 45 minute wait for the food, which was about right.) I don’t think I will return here, sadly, as this was closer to one star than to three.

We ended up at the Three Magpies with a large group after the Nine Worlds convention in a nearby hotel and loved it. The pub was very crowded, so there was an hour wait for food, but we didn’t mind since we had lots to talk about and weren’t in a rush. The staff are very friendly and handle the stress of an overcrowded pub well. Once the food arrived it was a pleasant surprise that it was really good pub food. We had a large variety of dishes across our group and everyone enjoyed their food. One vegetarian had the pesto and mozzarella burger, which according to her was amazing, I had the delicious lasagne and can highly recommend their cheesy garlic bread and the pulled pork. Especially for the prices they charge, the food is worth the wait, though it is quite a long wait. Even the desserts, which shouldn’t have taken too long since cutting a slice of cake isn’t a time intensive job, took over half an hour. However, if you have a few hours to kill and happen to be in the area, do give this pub a go!

Food wasn’t very good. Liked the fish okay but everything else was kinda meh. We had a group of 6 who weren’t excited about their food, who’d ordered Indian, a burger, and fish and chips. The best part of this place was the friendly barmaid.

We came here because it was close to our hotel. We didn’t know that we had to order our food at the bar. We aren’t beer drinkers so it felt strange going to a pub just to eat. We finally asked if we were supposed to order at the bar or what. We ordered the Korean chicken wings, fish and chips and a bigger order of fish and chips. We thought we would never get our food. The chicken wings finally came out. It was just okay. Then we waited forever for our fish and chips. When that finally came out the portion of fish was huge. CL and I both couldn’t finish our dinner. I expected smaller pieces of fish. Lots of locals hang out here and play pool. We put lots of vinegar and tartar sauce on our fish.

The friendly staff and now live acoustic music makes up for the average pub food. I was hoping for a great Shepherds Pie — The Steak & Ale pie was just average. I would rate it 3⁄5. There is a place down the street and around the corner called the Pheasant that has better food, but the casual atmosphere here is nice

So disappointing! I walked a mile from my hotel for an authentic pub experience, based on the Unilocal reviews. The fish and chips was absolutely flavorless. Ordering from a laminated menu, ketchup in foil packets. The prices are cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Great location for the business traveler staying around the airport. Typical pub menu and drinks. Try the Hawaiian chicken burger with a Weston’s Traditional Scrumpy. The duty manager was super nice to us. I’ve been to London about 20 times for work and this is above average.

Service was terrible. To illustrate how disorganized they were, they brought me dessert before my meal. They also did not clear my table until I asked them to, but then, they didn’t even bother to wipe the table down! I eventually wiped it down myself. Shortly thereafter I saw others also clearing their tables. Food was average. Beer selection and prices were good but I will not go back there again.

To be honest, if you are staying near the hotel for a brief stop, or if you have some prolonged layover at London Heathrow, I highly recommend you step out of the drab interior of the airport and head over across the street to Three Magpies. Its less than 5 mins from the Airport(easy cab or bus, and probably walkable if you are brave), and has comfy warm environment with a great selection of beers on tap, decent food, and best of all, some of the better prices in London. We stayed at the Renaissance for a 15 hour layover and headed over here to avoid 18GBP dishes at the hotel. Stepped in and ordered 2 beers, Stella and Strongbow on tap. Beer was nice after a long first leg flight of our journey. With our beer, we got a discount on a burger, so we ordered up a cheeseburger and fish and chips. Cheeseburger was pretty lame attempt. I don’t know how burgers are in the UK, but it was a thin slice of meatloaf served on a thin giant english muffin type bread. Still, hit the spot, it was nicely spiced, and wasn’t inedible. Served with BBQ sauce(not bad), and some fries(so-so), and 2 little onion rings(obviously frozen) Fish and Chips were solid as well. A large lightly breaded, not too oily fried fish, with tarter sauce, and so-so fries. The fish was pretty solid, not too oily and pretty fresh for an airport location restaurant. Final bill was the best part, 2 beers, a good amount of food and we left under 25GBP. Pretty good steal in my opinion since we ate at Yo Sushi in Terminal 3 for almost 50GBP, and I had a sandwich and smoothie at EAT another time for 10GBP. I’d give it 3-stars, but the fact that the staff is friendly, they accept foreigners and VISA, offer good beers, leave you alone to stay warm inside and enjoy your obviously brief stay, give you the chance to hear multiple languages spoken inside, and offer decent fare at good prices, I’d have to give it 4 stars. Not bad at all.

The three magpies is a great place to sit and relax. With a great atmosphere and great staff it’s a perfect place to go after a long day. I regularly stay at a nearby hotel for work and make the magpies an almost nightly stop. The food is pretty good and the beer selection is reasonable. However what makes the magpies most enjoyable is their staff. They are fun and a pleasure to interact with.

We were looking for a place outside the hotel, and stumbled on the Three Magpies. Exactly what we were looking for. Get a table, go to the bar and order your food and beverage and sit back down. Shortly they will bring your food to your table. For London, a pretty good deal and much better than the hotels in the area. Of course we had to have fish n chips and a brew and ended up with a 8.05 meal. A pretty good deal for London and the food was quite good too. If you are stuck at a LHR hotel, not a bad place to stop for a pint or two. Friendly staff and a comfortable pub feel.

I didn’t expect much from the only pub for miles around, near Heathrow airport, and a walk from several hotels. I half-expected it would be a soulless chain place. Was I surprised! Above-average selection of beers with two real ales(I had a pint of Bombardier«Kentish ale») and of course all the usual suspects(Carling, John Smiths, etc). I had a steak and ale pie with peas — real green peas, not overcooked and gray! The pie had a decent crust, not handmade and flakey, but sturdy, functional and tasty The filling was very savory and satisfying, but not too salty. Friendly staff, and that seems to rub off on the patrons. Warm and friendly décor, too… then there’s even a fireplace. There’s a patio in the rear(two, actually), VERY nice if you like watching(and hearing) Airbusses clawing their way skyward about every 4 minutes. Sure beats the hotel bar and restaurant!

The Three Magpies offers good food at reasonable prices in an exceptional atmosphere. The staff are polite, friendly and enjoyable to chat with. There are a number of seats outdoors to enjoy those rare sunny days and a small on-site parking lot. I first came to the Three Magpies simply because I was in the area, but have made an effort to return several times over the past few years; oftentimes bringing along new friends from other parts of London as well as those recently arriving into nearby Heathrow. I am not a well-known author(as of yet) but I was surprised and absolutely delighted when on my last visit the bartender mentioned my book«Relationslips». I guarantee that I will continue to patronize, as well as highly recommend, the Three Magpies for great beer, grub and atmosphere. Cheers! Adam Kirk Pruden
