This BHS store is one of the larger places in the Huddersfield town center and is located over 2 floors, but honestly some parts of the store, including the lifts are just a disaster, in order to save a little bit of money. This store is on «The Shambles» and that seems to sum up the store perfectly, especially the lift situation. The lifts are the really, old service lifts, where you have to push a button and it only calls that one, and you could be waiting for a while, not knowing if it was coming, in use or simply out of order, and when you get inside, it also isn’t very user friendly, with numerous buttons, which are complicated and simply like service lifts, which only staff would be able to operate, and it was pretty easy to get in and out, on the floor which is for staff. The lower floor, I find to be a little depressing and not a nice environment, although I do admit I visited on a Sunday afternoon, it was simply not a very nice atmosphere and so quiet you could hear a pen drop, or even a feather. The store is quite large with mainly stock featuring«home» items, I didn’t really look around the store, having just simply visited the café and not much else, so it would be unfair for me to comment on the range of the products, as well as the pricing. The staff didn’t seem too great, and they did seem to be using the lifts, like a service lift too, and with this being the only lift, I think it is awful that they are hard to operate and confusing, I do feel investing in some modern, larger, better lifts would be a great investment, and improve the customer experience by a mile, and to avoid the inconvenience of customers simply walking out(as I nearly did), or simply going up and down and getting out on the wrong floors. The café here was okay, with gluten free labeling however the range I found to be quite poor, and it was also quiet and not a nice place to eat, and also a little depressing. I also found it careless that the jacket potatoes, which is normally one of the only safe things to eat at other places was listed as a «gluten» items, which was obviously wrong or just meant how careless the staff were in dealing with this, however I’ll comment on the café more in the separate review for the café. I was also upset that a staff member, offered to walk me to the lift, which was only a short distance, but after getting half way there, she just pointed(when it was still hard to notice) and walked off, which I feel was a little strange and contradictory. Overall, this store is poor, with staff not as helpful and friendly as they could be, and they just seem to be cutting corners to save money, and simply a little careless, therefore I feel I can only give a single one star.

BHS. Hasn’t changed much and doesn’t need to/Maybe it is aimed at middled aged parents and younger end less trendy minded children but so what. Plenty of range especially and importantly in sizes –watch that waistline as in Marks and Spencers but crucially cheaper. Stay away if you’re trendy. Normally lots of seasonal gifts in at Christmas. Good café.

To be honest it is a little old fashioned now. Time has moved and unfortunatly it hasnt. it has a little resturant on the second floor. They stock the brand tammy(the one that used to be a store in itself) which is for older girls.
