Classic pub on the corner off the Ness. Okay atmosphere and staff, one insanely drunk old guy who didn’t feel like going home yet and caused all kinds of hilarious situations.

Was last up there working 4 years ago. And was a great place to go. The people were great and the atmosphere was great. And the owner was a great person to know!!!

Wandered in here to get away from some of the more crowded pubs in the middle of downtown. Wasn’t sure what to expect, but within a few minutes the bartender had to break up a fight and toss some crazies out. Before 9:30. Ah, so it’s that kind of place. There was going to be entertainment, and it was an older woman and gent DJ. Again with the unknown expectations. Mind blown. They did a great job of feeling out the crowd and playing some rockin’ tunes. Your usual suspects with regard to beer and whisky – you’re not going to come here to get the most variety, but you’ll find something you like. Bartender was great, and even though she was alone and it got crowded, she handled it well. If it’s your regular spot, cheers. If you’re a traveler it’s nice to get away from the crowds and the drinks are good. But don’t get rowdy – they have no problem showing you the door.

The Glenalbyn features on the riverside, opposite more trendy bars such as Barbazza and Johnny Foxes. It has a pretty loyal group of regulars, but tends to come alive during big sporting events — for the Germany v Spain Euro Champs Final, for example, they sported 2 tables — one with German sausages and cheese, one with Spanish food. Situated near an off license as well, many regulars tend to leave just before 10pm to pick up a bottle for when they get home. The clientele as well the staff all make you feel welcome, and will tend to start up conversation with you if you’re at the bar, but will also leave you alone if you’re with company.
