My friend took me out to Kokoro after I caved in because she was raving about it so much. She was buying lunch anyway, so we made our way down the street to the clean-looking shop. The staff greeted us immediately, and it was a team effort to make us our lunch — I had chicken Katsu with sweet and sour chicken, and my friend just had the Katsu. We sat by the window and chatted whilst watching the world go by. Both dishes were generously portioned and oozing flavour, and although the prices make sure you know you’re in london, it is well worth the cost for a lovely meal and family-like experience.

One of a few independent-ish lunch places along Castle Street, Kokoro has actually been around quite a while now. The hot food is all a bit Chinglish(or the Japanese version) and I found it too salty. I was however pleasantly surprised by the sushi, the salmon tasted quite decent to my untrained palate, there was a nice little seafood salad and I particularly liked the tempura rolls. It’s all Central London prices but definitely a good place to go for a change from the standard panini.

Possibly the tastiest food to have on the go in Kingston. Ignore the whole sushi thing, it’s the hot food you wana try wow. Personal favourite is the Chicken Katsu Curry but there’s something there for everyone from mild to spicy with your choice of either rice or noodles. There’s little to no seating so best to head there on a sunny day and eat by the river or something. Very friendly service and generous portions.
