Well, the pizza is good. But, just good. Not great and certainly not worthy of any awards. The toppings are skimpy and small. Do NOT get anything with the meatballs. They taste more like mystery meat than actual seasoned beef. Maybe being dead sober is why I’m so critical of this place, unlike some of the other reviewers. But the fact remains that although the order was filled quickly and promptly, it is not worth the 9 or 10 quid that you’re likely to shell out for their«better» pizzas.

One night I really wanted pizza but I really didn’t want to go out. Box Pizza came to my rescue! I loved that they have anchovies(yes, I know I’m only one of 6 people in the world who like anchovies on my pizza… and the other 5 people are really just cats) and it came pretty quickly. Unfortunately for me, the driver couldn’t leave his bike so I had to run downstairs to get the pizza from the front door, but when I got it, it hit the spot! I’m looking forward to trying for some of their more gourmet options(which still seem pretty reasonably priced). Oh yeah– they get bonus points for having the«customize your order online» thing worked out so well.

I’d been really looking forward to my pizza from Box, given that they’ve such a standing on here and in Leeds, and so one lazy hungry night(you’ll be noticing a theme, right?) I ordered with glee at the decadent menu and longed for a swift delivery. There certainly are some nice features to this take away — the menu is a little more exotic compared to the Hyde Park run, for example. The Greek is one of those more exotic varieties — complete with crushed cumin seeds and roasted aubergine amongst other ingredients! They also text you to keep you informed, which is nice, and have since let me know of an offer I can claim using the text message service. In this instance I opted for a ‘make my own’ and chose pepperoni, mushrooms, olives and mozzarella. Perhaps I should have chosen from the standard menu as, although timely, it wasn’t all that I’d hoped. Whilst the base was delicious, and clearly a cut above the rest, the pizza was slightly overdone — the cheese being just that little bit overcooked — and there were precious little mushrooms for the extra 65p. Boo! As well the olives didn’t taste particularly nice, but perhaps it was a bad night. I guess the let down of what I’d hoped to be an amazing pizza turning out to be average was the real disappointment — it certainly wasn’t a bad pizza. It was good, even. It just wasn’t an über gourmet pizza and I was really hoping for that to be the case. At any rate I will more than likely try again, just to be sure, and hope to update to as glowing a response as the others I’ve seen and read! Hopefully a one-off? Give them a try, and let me know!

This menu is pretty much like any other take-away menu… pizza, burgers, calzones… but they also offer pasta and healthy dishes. You’ll find that the food from here isn’t full of grease and salt and tastes so much better for it. I ordered with my friend when we fancied a girly pamper night in, we just went for a traditional thin based pizza… it was really nice and definitely worthy of the £6 odd we paid.

I tried Box Pizza one night when I was feeling particular frivolous and fancied a change from my usual Pizza outlet Pitza Cano. My housemate had recently tried the pizza-rific delights and insisted that they were worth shelling out a little more than you would usually, but not a huge amount. The pizza I had was absolutely gorgeous. A thin-based pizza that was not too greasy nor did it have that soggy dough that provokes a gag reflex in so many fellow pizza chompers. The staff that make the pizzas are all experienced chefs and the business itself is extremely professional. They take huge pride in their produce and use much healthier ingredients than most pizza outlets. They use hand made dough with fine Italian flour and virgin olive oil, real Italian recipes and ingredients and stone bake to cook. They also sell pasta and salads which are both fresh, the pasta is perfectly cooked(non of that soggy or chewy rubbish so many places sell) and the salads are fresh and crunchy and a delight to munch on. They also sell a good selection of beer and wines to acompany your dinner treat. If you take pride in your body and what you eat, but also enjoy a nice treat once in a while, Box Pizza is something you should definitely try. Just maybe not all the time, unless you are mega rich! My favourite is the Speck. It is compiled off smoked Italian ham, porcini mushrooms and basil pesto. I am literally licking my lips thinking about them!(The food not the staff… ehem) They deliver in around 40 mins although may take longer during peak times. Minimum order for delivery is £7 but any order under £10 is subject to a 75p delivery charge.

We were going to order from La Besi(our new favourite), but discovered it’s closed on Sundays and had to think on our feet, so thought we’d give Box Pizza a go. Bit more expensive than we’d usually pay, but cheaper than Dominos, and pretty fancy toppings, it’s got to be said(artichoke hearts and mushrooms, nomnom). But the olives. Oh, the olives. So very salty and just horrible. I’m the biggest olive fan in the world, and eat them at least three times a week, but these were awful, and now I’m suffering from salt overload and feeling very sorry for myself. I’m sorry Box Pizza, but you need to sort your olives out before I order off you again. Nuh uh.

There is often the presumption that takeaways are for ordering after a heavy night on the vodka and coke. With literally hundreds of takeaway business in the outskirts of Leeds opens till 5am especially aimed at a drunken market it’s no wonder we now associate a takeaway with a night out! What ever happened to being to tired to cook and fancying a cosy night in with a takeaway and a new dvd release(or is that just me being boring?!). Box Pizza offers takeaway pizza and pasta dishes using traditional Italian recipes which are ultra tasty. Box Pizza really reminds me of Pizza Express however in takeaway form and a little cheaper! Superb! It really is a higher class of takeaway with sophisticated toppings such as smoked aubergines, artichokes, Italian ricotta and porcini mushrooms (which makes a welcome change from donner meat and baked bean pizza’s offered at most other greasy fast food businesses!) You average pizza is around £7 which quite pricey however you really do pay for quality. The bases are thin and all dishes have an authentic Italian taste! If you have the money, are fed up of the grease dripping off your takeout pizza and a fan of pizza express you will love Box Pizza. A higher class of pizza delivery.

If you can’t be bothered to cook but can’t face the humiliation of ordering a Lucky’s at 7pm while sober, Box Pizza is for you. Run by proper chefs who cut their teeth in top London restaurants, Box delivers quality pizzas to your door that are more reminiscent of what you’d find in a decent restaurant than the usual oily, congealed cheese affairs. Prepared fresh using quality ingredients, Box pizzas have less nasties like salt and hydrogenated fat than a normal takeaway pizza, and they’re delivered in a fancy, high-tech bag thing that keeps them hot. Obviously this service doesn’t come cheap, with margheritas from £5, but with ingredients like fresh gorgonzola, proper buffalo mozzarella and real Italian cured meats its definitely worth splashing out the extra few quid on something you don’t have to be drunk to enjoy. They also deliver pasta dishes, side orders — the panzanella salad is a meal in its own right, and very tasty it is too — and a selection of beers and wines.
