Great haircut, friendly service and a reasonable price. I’m not sure what more you could ask for? I would definitely go back again and recommend it to any one.

Easily the best haircut I’ve ever had. Great location, price and courtesy.

I’m also an American in Leeds, I found the haircut less than satisfactory. More of a salon/hairdresser than a barber. The man who cut my hair(what do I call him, a hairdresser?) was more interested in washing my hair than actually cutting it. I declined having my hair washed and asked him if he understood what I meant by a low skin fade. He obviously didn’t know how to cut a fade and furthermore never used a straight razor to shave my neck or sideburns. Overly chatty and pushy, I found the experience uncomfortable and wont be coming back.

Excellent barber. I’m an American here for several months and I’m very happy that I found this establishment. The barber himself is professional and knowledgeable regarding what to do with different hair types, and is very responsive to the customer’s wishes and desires. The shop is a bit out of the way, but it’s clean and tidy. If you are a man after a good haircut, then come here. The only downside that I would have to say is that it’s maybe a couple of pounds more than other places, but it definitely makes up for that in sheer ability of the proprietor. Plus if you’re a student or meet other criteria, you can get a discount. Cheers.

City Image cuts a somewhat secretive and sheepish figure, on a rather affluent street in the heart of the business district. Although it was established in 2002, the barbers retains a genuine sense of tradition. A kitsch red and white striped barbers pole complete with gold topping is proudly erected on its exterior, without a hint of irony. An older hair establishment is always exposed as such by their opening hours. Who exactly needs a hair cut at 8am? Why, a gentleman of leisure, of course. City Image do not commit any crimes of age discrimination, I hasten to add. With discounts for the over 65’s, students with NUS cards and separate price brackets for two year olds, I consider it safe to say that the clientele at this barbers is a varied and inclusive mix. There is no requirement to book an appointment at City Image, and with a shampoo and cut costing £15.50, the value is unquestionably reasonable. I do envy the huge fiscal differences in hair maintenance betwixt the sexes. With the beautifully checked flooring and the monochrome pictures of young men flaunting coiffered styles in the window, it truly is the traditional gentleman’s barber. As my friend would say, it reminds me of a simpler time.
