Truly sensational pizzas! I’ve been coming to Harpo’s for decades, first to their Headingley branch and latterly when they moved to Roundhay. You won’t find a better bolognese pizza in the world!!!

Much better than the average pizza shop. Loads of toppings(Belly Buster lives up to it’s name) and if you phone in advance it’ll be ready and waiting. It is more expensive than some and a friend told me that she«always went, every time she was back in N Leeds». I’m not sure I’d go that far but it definitely beats supermarket pizzas and Dominos by a long shot!

A bit pricier than your average takeaway pizza but then it is about nicer so worth the extra. It also doesn’t look like a load of drunken students have been in which many takeaway pizza places do. You have the bog standard toppings you would expect but they don’t taste like the bulk packed economy ingredients you can get lumbered with. The bases are quite thin and crispy so you don’t just feel like you are eating dough. It’s quick to, even when they are bust which is always good when you are hungry.

When my friend insisted we order from here recently I was fairly unimpressed initially, mainly by the menu proclaiming their pizzas to be ‘gourmet’ and the ‘best in Leeds’ despite the toppings on offer being indistinguishable from those on offer on the dozens of other menus that haunt my hallway. The only thing that seemed different about Harpo’s was the prices — at least £1 above the average — and the slightly odd style of writing which included a ‘lady pizza’ and ‘tuna hooked on a bed of mozzarella cheese’. My first impressions were not helped when the pizza turned up looking considerably smaller than the advertised 11 inches and with its toppings sparsely applied. However, taste-wise it was very good, with a thin base that was crispy without being like cardboard and good quality cheese. Not exactly Leeds’ best, and it could have been more generous for the price, but still a cut above your average takeaway pizza.

I also love Harpos. I was distraught when the one in Headingley closed down. If I’d had more warning I’d have got a petition going and sent it to Tony Blair(he was prime minister or something at the time). They used to do the most delicious burger with mozzarella and salsa on, and the fries were light and fluffy and perfect. They don’t do them at this Harpos(sob) but they do do well tasty pizzas that might look on the small side when you get the box, but then who eats the last slice when you get a normal sized one? Ok, I do, but then I feel bloaty and a bit sick and wish I hadn’t. Or I microwave it for my breakfast and then get poorly. So basically, Harpos rocks.

I love this place. You ring up, you turn up 15 minutes later and you get the pizza you expect. They are just the right size for one person and all the expected toppings are available. It’s so efficient and the people are so nice you can’t help going back.
