Fish was overcooked and veg was undercooked. Not as flash as I expected. Think I’ll stick with the other places round here.

It’s good to see this place open and once again being used to serve drinks and eats! Perfectly situated in the heart of Chapel Allerton, The Woods is an ideal destination for a variety of occasions — whether that is a quiet Sunday brunch or Friday night drinks with a group of friends. The building itself is spilt over two floors with a bar, balcony and seating on both levels. One of the main attractions of this place is the fantastic outdoor area, with seating a plently, covered or open air, cushioned benches for lounging, big tables for groups and smaller more intimate seating for those romantic occasions. On the day I visited it happened to be a blazing hot Sunday so the open air tables were an absolute wonder! The food menu was good, offering a variety of eats from the wood fired oven with a wide selection of meats, fish and pizza dishes. The menu also offered breakfast, salad, dessert and Sunday roast options. Everything looked reasonably priced too. We opted for breakfast options, which were both very tasty and enjoyable — but definitely not the biggest portion sizes I’ve seen! The waiting staff were friendly too but they did all appear quite ‘new’. There seemed to be lots of staff but none of whom were designated to certain areas or tables which made the service quite slow and inconsistent. Also, some of my menu related questions could not be answered, however the longer this place is open I’m sure this will only get better! Although we didn’t partake in any boozey beverages the list of cocktails looked good and the selection of beers and ales were all reasonable but not extensive. Instead, we opted for the coffee option which was perfectly lovely. All in all this place is a solid destination for an enjoyable experience.
