Formerly ‘Stinky’s Peephouse’ with a dark and dirty past this nightclub stacks a three story party venue just outside the centre of Leeds. Appropriately names as ‘My House’ as it is nationally renown for hosting one of the best house club nights, ‘Back to Basics’, amongst others such as; ‘RudeNotTo’ and ‘Blowout’. Pop down to my house if you are in need of and all night, house-music party drinks are reasonably priced for a nightclub and it is an easy location to get to. The soundsystem has been improved but the inside is still pretty sticky floor, perfect for all night grimy raves.

I’m not into my house, trance, rave and dance music therefore My House doesn’t really appeal to me. Especially as the club was located next to my old flat and often kept me awake pumping till six in the morning! But don’t listen to me, I’m a granny at times! Many of my mates who are into their rave and clubbing scene love it here! Clubbers pump it up in there till six in the morning during the weekend and laugh upon people queuing up for Oceana and other student hives. If your the one shouting«I wanna go somewhere else» when you’ve been kicked out the bar at 2am, maybe My House would do you fine! Drinks are cheap however the décor is grotty. My House is obviously all about the raving scene as the décor is black, dingy and a little like a huuugeeee sauna at times! I understand some love this scene and this venue will be perfect for some of you reading this! Be careful, the club is strongly related to drug activity and is often closed down due to dodgy dealings. However that might be your cuppa tea!

MY House, which originally opened a few years ago as gay venue Stinky’s Peephouse, is not strictly in ‘town’. Located a few minutes walk away from the main bar areas, it is a venue that is famous for one thing, and one thing only. Back to Basics. Back to Basics is a rather famous house night that has won all the plaudits since it started in the early nineties — best night in England, best night in England, best night in Europe etc… Pete Tong even called it the home of house music — praise indeed. The night itself has been at many different venues since its inception, and now seems to have settled at MY House for the foreseeable future, and the venue provides a pretty good home for Leeds’ most treasured night. The lowest of the three floors is a sweaty, breathless steam room which proper ravers will love. The ground floor is slightly less sweaty and noisy, and the top floor even less so, meaning that you can go to MY House and not be forced to dance all night — although, if you go to Back to Basics, you’ll probably find yourself doing just that. All in all, it’s an average venue made good by the fact that they host B2B
