It was near, it was cold outside and I hadn’t eaten for 12 hours. That pretty much sums up why we plumbed for OBM. I remember it as No 1 Buffet, which was not an earth shattering experience but competent, clean enough and with more than your average range of choices. OBM had some nicely cooked dishes and was fairly clean– although dirty plates were left on tables for far too long considering there were only roughly 20 diners in the whole place. It was also friendly enough but after our wine came to the table we were hard pressed to receive any attention at all, the staff were disinterested. I think most disappointing was that the few nice dishes on offer were completely overwhelmed by piles of cheap fried chicken in slices, chips, nameless ‘curry’ and hot and sour soup that was apparently neither hot nor sour– falling more into the warm and halfhearted category. Did I get what I wanted at OBM? Yes. I got 3 plates of okayness for a tenner, a bottle of okay red wine for another tenner and some profiteroles for pudding. Will I go again? No. Next time I’ll make the effort and vote with my feet for better choice, flavour and service.

Absolutely shocking, I went in with a friend at 9.00pm on a Saturday night, in hindsight should have probably walked noticing how quiet it was. We were asked to pay upfront and the management were unable to give us a card receipt, trust is both ways right, wrong, not here! The food was also not very good for a buffet at least. Nothing really tasted of anything and my chicken toast had no chicken in it. I would probably think twice about venturing in again.

If I could give this place zero stars I would be! When this was the No1 Buffet it was pretty good(nothing awesome, but not so bad either). I thought it was just going to be the same business operating under a different name, and that would be it. unfortunately not! On entering the venue it all looked pretty standard as you’d expect, when sitting they asked if we wanted drinks and took our order. This was the best part of the visit. The choices has been massively reduced from when it was No1, and I was disappointed that most of the dishes you’d expect at a buffet wasn’t available(particularly missed egg foo yung) — but made the best of it & filled my plate for a starter. This was almost finished before the drinks arrived. Then it gets really bad — my friend finished her dish before me, and someone raced over & whisked it away then stood beside me waiting for me to finish mine(the place wasn’t busy, and that’s no wonder!). So, I went back for my dessert while my friend skipped hers. again, straight over & snatched the plate away the moment I’d finished. We still had about ½ bottle of wine left after the food, but had the bill brought over to us without requesting it. I told them that we’d be paying by card to which they replied that we’d have to pay it at the counter on the way out. She then proceeded to just stand there waiting for us to go. I actually had to ask her to leave us to finish our drinks before we would be going out to pay. Definitely won’t be going back again.
