Now before I start I have to begin my expressing my dislike of most franchise eateries. It’s usually down to the fact that most franchise places I’ve eaten I have been presented with food that is generally not homemade, mass produced, overly priced and tasteless. Joe had ranted on about Pizza Express to a point where I thought my ears would actually start bleeding so reluctantly went one sunny Friday afternoon. Firstly I really liked the fact that we could sit outside here. There are few places in Leeds where outside seating can be considered especially when the sun comes out, any chance of finding a table somewhere would be diminished by the counteraction of being arsed. I was pleased to find it tucked away on a back street with pretty wooden tables and big umbrellas. It was fairly quiet being about 16:00 but there were a few folk drinking glasses of wine in the sun so this really appealed. The waiter was ever so polite he was really friendly and helpful. The menu was easy on the eye with a variety of pizzas from full fat to low calories(I understand the sentiment but really. low fat pizza?) It begs the question«why eat pizza at all?» Anyway I had a hot choice as I love spicy pizza and Joe had goats cheese and caramelized onion. I prepared myself to need ketchup so asked for it in advanced. the waiter was amused by this and suggested they don’t use the stuff but they make there own. This pleased me even more — surely it’s going to be great. It was in fact suberb I blooming well loved the pizza here and the Merlot was to die for. The pizza was quite big but crisp, the tomato sauce was very well made and the toppings fresh and in there plenty. The goats cheese however much to Joe’s enjoyment was far too sweet for me, I mean you have to REALLY like goats cheese to enjoy this one. It was quite pricey to be honest but well worth it in my book. I enjoyed the food, the service and the décor with an extra star for being able to sit outside. I will however wait for a good review of another franchise before trying more of these restaurants it has not completely changed my mind.

I love pizza express for the most part, however i only like the one by the corn exchange. I have been to this pizza express a few times and each time I have found the same problems, left for far too long, staff not that friendly, pizzas slightly burnt and takes alot longer for food to arrive.

I’m a big Pizza Express fan, but not so much for this particular restaurant, situated in the ‘banking’ bit of town. I much, much prefer the one behind the corn exchange for the following reasons: 1) I can usually get a seat there within half an hour(unlike this one) 2) The staff are friendlier and the service is better 3) The building’s prettier The only plus side for this one is that I can park nearby for free after 6pm. But then I have to wait for ages outside to get a table, so I may aswell walk to t’other one anyway. Update — as of 17÷01÷11 I’m adding a star :) Came here as we were this end of town and had a ‘2 mains for £12′ voucher, which to be honest I was proper chuffed with as we had some of those mahussive Romana pizzas(that new one designed by some kid is soooo good), and it saved us a fortune. The service(as always in Pizza Express anywhere you go) was pretty lazy, and our olives didn’t turn up until we’d gently reminded the waitress after she’d brought us our mains and done the black pepper thing. But it was tasty and we had a nice time. Although I noticed the people at the table next to us getting more and more irate about their order being wrong more than once…

Pizza express is a chain and is always consistently good. I prefer the thinner base pizzas that you can see being prepared here to the thicker bases you tend to get at pizza hut. I love the fact the kitchen is open and you can see your pizza being prepared. The menu has enough choice for your pizzas and they do a couple of pasta and salad dishes just in case you fany a change. This place is always clean which a resturant needs to be and the staff are friendly and attentive. You usually get seated straight away(as long as its not a Satursay night) and you never feel rushed to get out. Altogether a good dining experience

I think it’s a case of the emperor’s new clothes here. No one dares say it’s bad because it’s considered trendy. Basically, the food’s bland and boring, with the options pretty small. People rave about the dough balls because they want to let people know they’ve actually been there. In reality they are not dissimilar to the tasteless globules that are produced when you roll a piece of milk roll into a ball. Don’t bother.

If you want microwaved lasagna and salad straight from the bag this is the place to go! I know most people come here for pizzas, which are standardised and nothing special, but to pay £8.95 for that is appauling. Get a take away instead ;)

Ok, Pizza Express is defiantly not the kind of place that will leave you thinking you’ve stepped into a parallel universe & ended up in Rome, However although it may fall short on authenticity the food is usually great & the service is normally the same, You know what your going to get here & sometimes thats just what you want.

Can’t go wrong here. Feel posh eating pizza in this lovely looking place. Go the extra length with the pizzas with differnt toppings. Even though it is a posh pizza hut, feel more glamourous eating in there and not having to pay loads if you were eating in an Italian place. Very quick service and always busy, best booking before on a weekend.
