grossly overpriced drinks and zero atmosphere. another north bar for the pretentious middle classes too stuck up to go into a real pub! will not be going back to get ripped off again.

Another win for the North Bar contingent, and for sunny Oakwood. My my. It’s like a race tower who’ll be cooler first — Oakwood or Meanwood. Battle of the woods!(Does Meanwood win because of the Waitrose?!) Anyway, I digress. Preston is lovely. I’m not sure what else to say, but I’m sure I’ll find the words. Lots of outdoor seating, for when it’s sunny, cool interior(if a little cramped) and the usual great selection of beers. Some will, of course being NB, set you back a fair few quid. But we do like nice beer! Ciders seem in short supply, sorry Matt P and Tori W. The coffee is by Laynes, which is a real boon. Didn’t stay long enough to say much more, other than I really love a bar that provides table service. Nice one, I shall be back!

A good friendly bar. The staff will even come to your table and take your drink order. Oakwood has really come on in leaps and bounds. Preston can only add to this lovely café bar vibe going on here.

Officially my new local! Welcome to Oakwood North Bar! IT’s been a long time coming! So popped along last night for their«soft opening», perhaps a little bit advertised by the Leeds Food and Drink Blogger! I’m not so sure that they were 100% ready, but it is certainly a promising bar! I like their décor and even though I thought it should be called«further north and little bit east», the original Preston mosiac is lovely. However, I’m not sure it’s one that I would spend hours in. I have my reasons. Firstly, the chairs that they have gone with are reminiscent of Chemistry lessons…(well, no perhaps Biology lessons as the Chemistry ones were stools, whereas these are lower)…and are, like those lessons, bum numbing after about 30 minutes. I will get around this problem by taking a cushion for my buttocks. Secondly, it’s quite pricey! £5.60 for a pint of salty kiss. wowzers! mind you, i had a half and was quite glad of it as I could only manage a half of a half. Be that a lesson to all you fellas that were thinking of giving me a salty kiss! Anyway, I digress. I shall be interested to see how they do and will definitely be down again when a little less rammed and ooo oooo £3.50 for local homemade cake and cuppa at the weekends. I’m not sure why i’m excited by this so much as Timoneys does AWESOME cake. Maybe it’s because Merlot(the dog) can come in with me. maybe it’s because cake always turns into exciting beer and it seems a pretty nice place to while away some time. maybe it’s just because I like Cake and a new venue to stuff my face is always welcomed

This is just what Oakwood needs. OK it was opening night, so lots of people about, you can tell though that this place is a returner. Beer great but also like the wine, cheese and meat offer! Already planning to come again!
