After having rather bad experiences at the West Park Café, I heard that it had changed hands. I hadn’t been there for a year or so, was stuck for a bite to eat one day(because I had limited time) and decided to give it another go. It’s only fair to give places another chance after a suitable period of time has elapsed and I thought I’d be doing my bit for local business. I ordered a bacon and brie sandwich to go. It took 30 minutes to arrive which somewhat defeated the object of getting a quick sandwich. I was so hungry when I got out, I decided to unwrap it and take a bite. I wish I’d thrown the sandwich straight in the bin. The bacon was white raw in the middle yet cooked around the edges. As for the brie, it was tiny and I swear about 2 mm in depth, like a wafer. And while I love salad, the thing had been so stuffed with the cheap bulk-making stuff that the little microscopic bit of brie in there made no appearance on the taste buds. Oh, and if this wasn’t enough, the bacon had copious layers of gristle and fat which really completed the experience. Needless to say I took it straight back. I showed the staff the sandwich and they really didn’t have anything to say in its defence. I took a refund and left. In summary If you want a better culinary experience go to Greggs. The food I had at the West Park Café was disgusting. Steer clear at all costs.

I recently revisited the lovely West Park Deli and couldn’t have been more satisfied with the service. We decided to stop by here for some lunch, since my boyfriend and I had needed to use the nearby laundrette, and ended up choosing to go for one of their gourmet burgers. Oh my goodness, it was girt lush.(Gloucestershire; read«great lush» as in, very good!) The burger was huge, adorned with deliciously melted cheese and bacon, and it was accompanied happily with delicious skins on home-made chips and a large bed of salad. It was a ridiculously generous amount of food and I loved every bite that I could manage, which ended up being about half the plate. I had a lovely coffee with my meal, which we ate al fresco on the lovely little paving area outside, and relaxed in the sun afterward with our stomachs completely satiated. I think the most joyous part, other than the deliciously cooked burger, was the chap who served us. He is a super-friendly Welshman and made our experience all the more pleasant with his chatty demeanour and amicable manner. All in all I’ve upgraded as it was such a lovely time. They may be that little bit more expensive in some respects, but for such good service and freshly cooked food I was happy to pay every penny! Yum.

My husband and I have been going here for a couple years now. We love their Coffees and their cakes for a weekend treat. You can also order any of the cakes they sell with 24 hours notice. Which my husband has requested the chocolate cake for his upcoming birthday. We’ve eaten from their breakfast lunch and dinner menu and all are great. I particularly like the lamb burger. All of their food is made fresh and the service is excellent. Occasionally it is a little slow as another person suggested but bearing in mind that you aren’t getting fast food — you’re getting a proper meal which has been cooked for you — not pre-made and depending on the dish it can take a bit longer than say a burger.

This is a cute little local hang out. Most of the people that come here live very close by. The food is freshly cooked to order so there can be an occasional wait but that’s to be expected since you aren’t getting microwaved food. My favorite is the lamb burger. The coffee goes down well with their gourmet cakes :-) The cakes aren’t made onsite — but they are made by a local bakery. You can order the cakes if you give them a couple days notice. The Deli is two doors down — where you can get fresh sandwiches and all other things you would expect to find in a deli.

A lovely little just eatery outside Headingley on the way out of Leeds, the West Park Deli/Café is most definitely worth a visit. Getting past my annoyance that it calls itself a deli but… really isn’t one, I enjoyed a fresh lunch here on a rare sunny English day. The good weather allows you to use on the ample outdoor seating area and watch Otley Road go by while you wait for your food — just don’t sit here at around 3PM on a weekday or you’ll be swamped with kids emptying from the nearby school. The food itself was impressive — one of the nicest gourmet burgers I have experienced, followed by an upmarket-tasting coffee — but the prices reflect the quality, so if you’re after something quick and cheap at lunchtime, I’d look elsewhere.

I’ve been to West Park Café twice now, the first time I went I ordered the Lamb burger, it was delicious although the bread was really hard(the manager explained he was perfecting his recipe and thanked us for our comments) I had chocolate mousse for pudding and it was delicious. The second time we went I ordered the gnocchi, but was given a lamb burger and the service was really slow, which was wierd since the café was empty except for us and they had 4 or 5 members of staff on. The burger was nice, but not what I ordered and it took a really long time to arrive. Pleasant enough but I think they could be much more efficient — I can’t imagine what it would be like when busy.

A great place to eat in north leeds. The food is a great mix of sandwiches, salads, and healthy options. It has a large choice of teas, coffees and soft drinks. You can also treat yourself to some fantastic cakes, the chocolate brownie is to die for. The café is very family friendly and has won awards for the services it povides to parents and children. It has great clean baby changing facilities and a little play area for the children. A true gem in the north of Leeds.

A tiny café with homecooked and homebaked goodies at pretty darn good prices. There’s outdoor seating for when it’s not pi**ing it down with rain and a toilet for if you need to go to the toilet. The owners and staff are very friendly and obviously enjoy making people happy with cake. It’s an unpretentious little place just 2 seconds out of headingley and they won’t charge you for ‘eating in’ or ‘sitting in a chair’ like Starbucks or Café Nero or any of those other places do. If you go at night time they’ll replace their lunch menu with a normal restauranty type menu, with big fancy burgers in buns. As most cafes they do a good coffee, which you have to have with one of their brownies cos they’re well good.
