Just spent 2 nights in the newly opened White Swan, from the moment we walked through the door we were made to feel very welcome. The letting rooms have all been revamped and are spotless, Sunday carvery was delicious, as was todays curry. We will be coming back and next time will bring friends too.

I have been in The White Swan just an handfull of times and I have to say it doesn’t get any better! The first time I went in was just after it was refurbed and my partner and I went for a meal which it has to be said was instantly forgettable! The usual crowd in there are loud and yob like and make the atmosphere very uncomforable. In summer they normally sit outside and can be heard heckleing passers by like wierd builder types. There is one guy with long blonde hair in particular who is, how shall I say, very special! The interior design is strange, there is a small bar area which gets cramped with the yobs and a large restaurant style room towards the back which never seems to get used. There isnt anything really nice I can say about this place except its location is good as it over looks Yeadon cricket pitch.

This pub is a little way out from Yeadon High street so often gets missed off the Hike up and down the hill that is a Friday night. Usually it has a good friendly atmosphere and a fair range of drinks and offers. What I have to rave about is the Sunday carvery that they do. I kept hearing about this from many quarters do tried it out with some friends and their kids. It is not fancy, no pretensions, but great food and brilliant value for money. You buy your ticket from the bar(which you can do at the same time as getting in a round of drinks, very efficient!) it cost about a fiver, I think. And then whenever you’re ready join the queue at the counter. There is a great selection of meats and vegetables. The only thing that was a let down was the time it took for my friend’s vegetarian meal to arrive(it appeared to be a cheap micro-meal, so not the best value either) — but like I’ve already said the carvery itself is great.
