Ein leider etwas schmuddeliger ASDA — ein halbes Hühnchen in der Getränkeabteilung ist da nur ein Beispiel.

Make no mistake, ASDA is Wal-Mart and walking into here was somewhat akin to being transported into middle America, except for the accents, the blue had morphed to neon green and black, and the fact that there was a Halal meat section. That being said, the store has pretty high quality produce(really fresh!) and at very affordable prices. The staff, at least the ones I spoke to about the location of things, were quite friendly. Points where they could improve — the 24 hours that it’s open does not apply to Sundays. This place can also get a tad messy with all the patrons leaving stuff in strange places(i.e. salami in a magazine stand, an open bottle of shampoo poured on to a shelf, broken eggs in a freezer) The organic/fair trade/natural product selection also leaves a lot to be desired. If you are coming in from Leyton High Road at night, the corridor where you pass by the T.K. Maxx, Subway, and Fitness First suggest a more unsavoury past — lots of windows covered in white paint with little peeks of graffiti underneath, and several signs that say«Selling illegal DVDs on this property is considered trespassing» — on that note I wish they opened the rotating door closer to that end(it appeared to be shut) instead of having patrons walk all the way to the other entrance.

Just as I discover my favourite new hairsalon(Naushaba Hair & Beauty), my stylist in the salon told me about this huge Asda store nearby on walking distance. I have never been in a store as good as this. The prices are great and so much variety of everything. I’m now glad about my decision to move to this area instead of moving to another one which I was considering in the west of london. Leyton rocks!

A large store which has just about everything you need when doing the weekly shop. Good selection of clothing, books, magazines and household items, as well as the standard groceries you would expect from any supermarket. ASDA runs regular promotions too — such as Gardens, Home, or Baby and Toddler. The store has a separate photographic shop, pharmacy, opticians and café. Car parking is extensive and spaces are usually available. Close to B&Q, Currys, Next, Sports Direct, TK Maxx, Burger King, Subway, Pizza Hut and KFC.

Cheap cheap cheap. Second only to Lidl & Aldi — but with loads more choice. Not the most pleasant shopping experience — Tesco always has shorter queues and does not leave as may pallets lying around etc.

Out of the major supermarkets ASDA is far and away my favourite. Their superstores are packed full of goodies. They have the clothing label George, toys, CD’s and loads of household goods. The range of food is excellent and the least costly of all the major stores. On site they have a pharmacy, optician, photo centre and a petrol station. They are also open 24hrs on a Tues, Wed, Thurs and Fri which means avoiding busy shopping hours. This is a great superstore and the only one I will do a big food shop at.

A proper supermarket in central london! This is a big store, similar to ‘out of town’ stores across the UK. The George clothing area is large, with sections for women, kids and men. Then there is an electrical area, items for the home, as well as a good book, DVD and music selection. They do freshly roasted chickens. Large fruit and veg area. There are also seasonal items and a good range of foreign food– caribbean and asian for example. Bakery, drinks(including wine etc) and frozen food are at the far end of the store. On the way in there is a café and a camera shop, where they develop pictures and sell all sorts of camera relate items. The store is by a large car park and there are trolleys, so if you drive there you can stock up! For those taking the tube, like myself, the tube station(central line) is very near the store, so its not to bad– just take a good bag to help you carry everything!

This asda in Leyton is located in the retail park. It is one of the larger retail stores and so has more choice of product than the smaller ones and also has the option of bulk buying some of the items it sells. The store also sells clothes, stationary, home ware as well as the usual food, drinks and groceries and has a wider choice of food selections from different cultural backgrounds and imported from different parts of the world for example exotic fruits from the Caribbean. The clothes are suitable for everyone from babies, children, women and men who want to buy clothes at budget prices.

A large store that includes a range of clothes, entertainment, electricals, photo centre, pharmacy and café. I particularly like coming here due to the café — a great cheap place for a well filled roll with sausages(3 fat sausages in a roll!) and a coffee. Can’t beat it! My only problem with their café area is that as it has large walls of windows the sun can be a bit over powering at times, they need more blinds. Well, once my visit to the café and look around the clothes, there is a good range of groceries. I have always found the staff here helpful as well. If you are coming by car there is plenty of parking. If like me you are reliant on buses, it has easy access to the bus stops by Leyton station or there is one small bus(W14 i think) that comes right into the retail park. Alternatively the taxi service for which there is a freephone in the asda store is reliable and reasonably quick.

A big superstore Asda, just a short walk from Leyton tube station, past a TK Maxx. Not very many of these within fairly central London areas. Part of an estate of other superstores — has a massive car park. Is open 24 hrs for 4 days of the week & closes late on saturday nights. Sells their clothing range, electrical goods, mobile phones, home wares, pharmacy as well as regular food shopping. Despite being a massive store I have seen larger food ranges in other Asda’s than this branch & on the weekends the queues for tills are a total nightmare.
