Great priced food! And parking near by. Bar staff friendly and helpful. Was a bit disappointed that there was no Turkey and available. Lovely view :)

Great food reasonable prices, staff always friendly to me and my family, lovely views across the river, been there many times. Just reading some of the comments on here are they talking about the same place?

With its pyramidal roof that from the outside looks like Glastonbury and from the inside looks like a circus big top, the Britannia Inn sure does stands out. Another reason it stands out is because there is nothing else in a four hundred mile radius. It was built for the 1984 Garden Festival but now stands pervaded by a melancholy air at finding itself the sole survivor. At night, sitting outside as the algid river washes up against the promenade brickwork can be intriguing. You half expect icebergs and narwhals to drift past or the barmaid to come out and frantically issue you with a lifejacket. Still, it’s good for a pint.

The Britannia was built in 1984 as part of the Festival garden site and at the time it was a fabulous place to go as you could have a cheap meal there and then have a walk along the waterfront. However it is now just a pub on the main river road from Aigburth to town and has been replaced by the much more popular and accessible Otterspool(see other reviews) The Brittania has only a nice waterfront walk going for it and that can be done anywhere. The food is standard pub grub but that is not the main issue. the last two times I have been the service has been absolutley appalling, once they just totally forgot our order and then offered free desserts which were no good to us as we couldn’t wait any longer and the other time the food was stone cold when it arrived. I won’t be going back in a hurry!

This used to be my local — it’s a nice place for a drink as it’s situated by the River Mersey. However the actual pub is a bit run down and could do with a bit of refurbishment. I’ve eaten in here a few times, and the menu is great, food is nice although they never seem to have the fish and chips! Service is always very friendly and quick. They also have a quiz machine which is always a bonus in my eyes :)

A huge pub overlooking the river Mersey. It serves value for money food although as most people drive here the price of soft drinks could be more reasonable. There is a huge verandah area to sit a enjoy the views across the river and while away a warm evening– ha. All in all a pleasant position but the building is showing its age and could do a lick of paint.
