Don’t get confused now… it’s another name change. What was once Chung Ku is now City Rendezvous. So it rhymes with its old moniker, which is always a good start. Or at least, I think it is anyway. Even though the two names are completely different, the little hint of a rhyme kind of has a ring to it. Okay, so I’m just trying to give credit where it’s really not due, but let’s get on with the task at hand. Is it a good eatery? Well, first things first — the location is prime and then some. Huge glass walls offering a staggering view of the River Mersey, the kind of architecture that you know won’t look dated in ten years time(ahem ahem, plethora of glass and steel buildings, your time in the ‘what were we thinking?!?’ 80s retrospect spotlight will come, ahem) and a very handy car park that ain’t little, it’ll happily take 120 cars in fact. Aces! As soon as you walk in the politeness and quality of the service is evident. Meanwhile the food. It’s still Chinese, the name hasn’t changed that. And it’s still fresh, spicy, delicious, sticky goodness. The cuisine actually originates from many different areas of China too so there’s plenty of adventurous stuff to choose from, and the chefs are very highly thought of. There’s a really good wine list too as well as some champers on offer, and that’s a good thing considering the fact that quite a few footie players are known to dine at City Rendezvous as well as business types and the usual urban crowd. If you want some yummy Chinese fodder in impressive surroundings with top notch service, I’d pop this one on your list if I were you.
