Was looking for good dim sum while taking my daughter to Liverpool and Chung Ku more than exceeded my expectations. It was one of the best dim sum experiences I have had anywhere, as good or better than anything in London or San Francisco. Dim sum is served off a menu, rather than by trolleys, and while it is not as much fun as the trolley service, it does give you a better variety and allows everything to be served fresh. That was probably my strongest takeaway, all the dishes were fresh, not too greasy(even the fried ones), and very ample portions(especially the meat to wrapper ratio). Some of the highlights were steamed char siu buns, the filling was ample, flavors were complex and the pork had no fat or gristle. Loved the deep fried prawns in rice paper. Chicken spring rolls were fresh and had a lot of chicken. I forgot exactly which dumpling I ordered, but a pan fried(pot sticker style) dumpling with pork(though not traditional pot stickers) was one of our favorites, great consistency and the filling was very tasty. Siu mia, har gao and prawn rice noodle also very good renditions of classic dishes. The only thing I did not love was the crabmeat dumpling in soup, as I found the soup somewhat tasteless. Overall, though, fantastic, fresh and tasty dim sum. Add to it attentive service and a beautiful panoramic view, plus reasonable prices, and I want to return to Liverpool just to visit again.

Went with a few friends to get dim sum at 12 on a saturday. Only one other party was there at a time, but by the time we left things were hoppin. Service was good, especially considering we were probably a bit loud. We had to specifically ask for the dim sum menus – they handed us regular meal time menus by default. We ordered about 8 different dishes and they were all fresh and came in good size portions. The tea was fresh but the pot drained quickly for our table and we never had an opportunity to refill. The location of this place is a bit off putting if you don’t drive, but the views are spectacular(even if it is of a dirty river).

Simply put this is one of the finest Chinese restaurants in the Northwest. In operation now for over 10 years it has formed a formidable reputation for many reasons. Let me start with its location. Wow! The building with its quirky ship bow inspired design is perfectly located on the promenade fronting the River Mersey. You’d be hard pressed to find better panoramic water views anywhere else in the region vastly enhancing the dining experience whether its day or night. The interior is a cleverly designed effort combining Chinese traditional with modern contemporary. The glowing corridor compliments luminously the glass-paneled building. The restaurant is spacious and carries a chilled out ambiance despite having over 350 covers. The food is where the heart is in this gem of a restaurant, and it is gorgeous. No wonder it is mentioned in the good food guide then eh? I really have to go back just to try all the other options and wished I had the stomach for another 3 or 4 mains at least. I guess that is the amount of times I shall be returning in the least. Quick run down on my next mission: Appetiser — Salt & Pepper Chicken wings Soup — Chinese mushroom and shredded duck. Main — Fried fillet of dover sole with asparagus in birds nest or a sizzling platter of Fillet steak with green peppers in satay sauce. Comes to around £30 with drinks and tip… Sold!!! So remember it well, its hard to forget in any case is it not…“Chung Ku” be there or be square!

This very impressive building continues to be impressive inside. As it is along the docks it is a place that you will probably already know you are going to visit rather than stumble across. There is a lot parking available. The only entrance I saw contained a lot of steps but I presume there must be an accessible entrance somewhere. Inside it’s a lovely restaurant in tasteful Chinese décor and a fantastic view over the Mersey. The food was lovely, the menu contained lots of choice and the prices were very reasonable including a few different choices of set menus. The service was very efficient.

You won’t get a better view from any other restaurant in Liverpool! Chung Ku is situated almost in the River Mersey :) The eye-catching building has full length windows which look out onto the river and offer a very pleasant dining experience. Very smart and impressive but without any snootiness, this is a great place for a special meal. Prices are quite high, but this is a place for special occasions.
