Chris’s is good for stuff like fish and that and other stuff from warmer but the meals ain’t that good. Honey and lemon chicken Tate’s like Beecham’s, suppose is good for a cold. Staff are friendly but don’t ask for an opinion and hope for a honest one as they will tell u its ‘sloveley’ no matter what you are ordering(I’ve been fooled by this before). Salt and pepper chips are nice though.

After a major craving for chicken nuggets and chips, and having walked past Chris’s Chip Shop many a time and seen it packed(well, if it’s that busy, it must be good!) I decided to give it a go. For twelve chicken nuggets and chips at around £3.00 I was majorly impressed. The service was speedy even though Chris’s was, as per usual, full of hungry chip revellers. The second time I visited(yes, it was that good) I had traditional fish and chips, which were delicious. Usually I hate the batter that fish and chip shops coat their haddock/cod/whatever it may be with, but this was flavoursome. So if you’re hungry and in the Rose Lane/Mossley Hill region of Liverpool, why not give it a go?

I do love a good chippy tea and Chris’s was the first chippy I had in Liverpool being in close range of my new home. Ahh, young love. Anyway, the chips are darn tasty and cheap as, well, chips, I guess!(although now I’m a little scared after Rebecca C.‘s behind the scenes view, but I never had any problems!) and a great alternative to the Carnatic Halls version of Chinese food which was, how can I put this kindly, not meant for human consumption? Instead, Chris’s was the happy alternative, it seems a popular choice and always busy at peak times. Hurrah for chips and curry sauce!

Ok, I may be a bit biased here, because I briefly worked at Chris’s when I was 15. They say if you work with food it puts you off eating, and that can certainly be said of my 15-year-old self. But I won’t tell you about some of the atrocities I witnessed, as that wouldn’t be fair. Instead, let me talk about being on the other side of the counter. Because despite working there, yes I do still use this chippy, as do most people in the surrounding neighbourhood, and it is thought of as the best in the area. If you’re a young attractive girl Chris can be a bit flirty with you(I take it I wasn’t attractive at 15) but other than that it is a pretty good chippy. The food is always the right temperature, the curry sauce never spills out of the styrofoam cups, and the chips are some of the best I’ve ever tasted. The prices are good too, as you can tell because at 6pm and 10pm the place is always full of people getting chippy dinners or settling the munchies while walking back up to campus(Carnetic halls is just up the road).

I used to live very close to this chop shop when I was younger — going back 30 years or so. At that time Chris owned just a singular shop. He bought next door shortly afterwards in order for him to expand and soon offered a wider selection including flamed burgers etc. It is a highly thought after chip shop on Rose Lane. My parents still go in there all the time and the food is magnificient. If you want something added to your meal(or taken off) they are always happy to oblige. A favourite for the student too as the campus is just along the road,
