My partner and I are staying here tonight as part of our two week vacation. Pros — good value for the money. Convenient location to all key attractions in Liverpool. Right on the dock with plenty of bars and restaurants right outside the door. Rooms are a good size and clean and tidy. Our room was 50% larger than our room at the Thistle Kensington in London for half the price. Really shows you the price difference between London and other areas. Our room had a comfy bed and good views of the water. Our tour group dined in the hotel restaurant for dinner as this meal was included in our package. The restaurant staff was polite and organized. Our large group was served quickly and the food options were simple but well prepared and tasty. My partner and I both had the Hake breaded and served over stewed tomatoes and okra with sides of new potatoes as well as steamed carrots, green beans. He went with the duck pâté appetizer and I had the tomato soup. For dessert we had the berry cheesecake as well as the chocolate brownie. Everything was very good. Cons– not sure about the other rooms but our room did not have a safe, really inconvenient when traveling with passports, iPhones and iPads, cash etc. Overall a good place and priced right.

It could have been a good hotel, but there were some serious drawbacks. The good: 1) right across the plaza from the convention center 2) within alking distance of the restaurants in Albert Dock(pricey but tasty) 3) direct line to cab service 4) fair breakfast buffet 5) reasonably friendly staff The bad: 1) thin walls – on a Fri. night, I can hear people talking and thumping things until 2 a.m. 2) doors tend to slam shut when closing 3) internet service charge/device(never experienced this not even in London) 4) barely edible lunch(and dinner according to a colleague) served at the bar/restaurant 5) bar staff not interested in serving food, rather in pushing drinks Given that there is a Premier Inn across the street and I had good experience with a staff memeber there who helped me locate a booking number with a Premier Inn in London, I am inclined to try the Premier Inn the next time I’m there for a conference.

Okay so this isn’t a quaint B&B and it’s certainly no Childwall Abbey, but this Jury’s Inn, a recent build, is a great hotel. It’s located right by the Albert Dock and the Liverpool One shopping centre and provides, perhaps less luxurious, but certainly cheaper acmodation than the Hilton. Jury’s Inn are very well appointed, the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable and while they lack some character I find them much more homely than some other recognised chains. My partner was visiting Liverpool a couple of months back, he chose Jurys Inn for on enights stay and arrived quite late at night, the bar should have closed but the staff kept it open just for him and his guest which was considerate.
