Neighbourhood off-licences are generally quite grim places, flowing in the same vein of inexorable sullenness as betting shops and abandoned dockyards. Kelly’s Wines, not to be confused with Kelly’s Dispensary or Gene Kelly, is no different. Looking like it hasn’t been cleaned since the architect gave the blueprints a wipe, this is a typical local glop shop, housing all that that entails. There’s the ornate ironwork stopping you from vaulting the counter, the sheets of plastic making the booze resemble the worst museum ever and a series of lunatics struggling to stay upright. If you’re in the area and need booze(hopefully for a groovy social event and not just to drink in front of the soaps) I’d advise you go to Bargain Booze. It’s cheaper, brighter and less filled with maniacs.
