Possibly the friendliest staff at a MAC store I’ve been to(and that includes stores in the U.S.). I walked in and the layout of the store was nice because there was room to move around. The last one I went into, you could barely breathe without bumping into someone else. There were quite a few staff buzzing about. I went in for some new eyeshadow colours for the spring/summer. While there were two staff members that seemed to be oblivious to customers in the store, the rest of the staff were very helpful and friendly. One in particular, Elizabeth, came over and asked me if she could help. I told her what I was looking for and she did point out some of the new palettes that had just been released. I liked the look of one of the palettes and I just asked if there was a little template of ways to use the colours because sometimes more than two colours throw me off. She asked me if I’d like her to demonstrate, so I said sure. The way that she explained everything was easy to remember and she even included little hints and tips with brushes and moving from a day look to an evening look! Because she was so helpful with that, I thought I would ask about foundation since apparently the acne I never had as an adolescent is now plaguing me as an adult. She offered to help me find a cover up and colour. She ended up pairing me with a tinted moisturizer and a concealer for when I need a bit of extra help. She showed me the best way to apply it so I don’t end up with it caked on and even gave me a couple of extra tips with it. I wasn’t expecting a makeover, but it really made me feel confident about my purchases… that I would actually know how to use them when I got home. So why the one star… the prices for the items are not clearly marked. I always expect things to be on the pricier side when I go to MAC, but £35 for a brush! That was the most expensive item out of the makeup I bought! I don’t mind paying a little more for higher quality items, but I thought that it was excessive, especially when it was more expensive than the makeup itself.

MAC Cosmetics should send a team of mystery shoppers round to this branch pronto! The cosmetics are perfectly displayed and they have every product you could want from ruby, pillarbox and dark red lipsticks to jet black and grey eyeliners, mascara, eye-shadow, blusher and foundation. There’s also a myriad of tester pots and more mirrors than in a bathroom showroom. The problem is, the staff. I ventured in on two seperate occasions and was either ignored, given dirty looks or begrudgingly served after waiting around for 5 minutes. In short, I’d give MAC5 stars for products and 1 for customer service.
