The menu is pretty much standard here, and it really is more of a stop shop for post night out rather than a great viable dining option. Sunday buffet is probably worth a shout at less than £10. Quite frankly it’s not a case of this place doesn’t serve good food, it does. It is merely a case that the competition is tough and if you offer decent food at low average prices when others are offering fantastic food aat average prices you’re not doing yourself any favours, regardless of whether it’s Indian or not. As I said though, not bad for a post/pre night out meal if you’re desperate for an Indian.

There are not many Indian eateries in Liverpool City Centre — this has been remedied over the past few years, but owing to an influx of Chinese immigrants to the city from the late Nineteenth century the dominant imported cuisene in this neck of the woods was oriental in flavour rather than sub-continental in taste. A Passage to India has really established itself as one of the number one locations in the city to get a plate of Indian or Pakistani food and I will certainly not argue. My taste for curry has matured a little in the last few months(as coincidentally has my love for tea) and the offerings available here are delicately spiced and less thick in texture than those I had been used to in Manchester. I can highly recommend the Chicken Madras and the chutneys which are so delicious I asked for an extra portion to take home with me last time I was there. I left them on the train but on the plus side it gives me another reason to visit. Very nice.

A Passage to India is one of the great indian restaurants in Liverpool, it’s one of my favourites but not THE best. The food is of high quality and the service is very good. I can’t really fault the place, just not my favourite. A major plus is that you can take your own booze! If you fancy a cheap night out with mates, this is the place to go. On the menu you can expect all the usual curries but I would recommend either the lamb pasanda or the chicken tikka balti. There is also an all you can eat buffet for £9.95 per person on a Sunday — bargain!

I love this restaurant. The food is of high quality and the service is very good. If you like Indian food, you can’t go far wrong at the A Passage to India. Also, you can take your own wine and beer, which makes it a cheap night out.
