Samrat doesn’t benefit from being in such close proximity to Master chef Tandoori as it doesn’t really measure up. The indian market in Liverpool is a crowded one and unfortunately Samrat does little to make itself stand out. The décor here is a little bit dated and it feels as though the staff cant really be bothered as any assistance takes a while to come your way. The food is average at best and has on occassion been a little cold which was very dissappointing considering I had waited quite some time for it to arrive in the first place. The prices are very average but the quality is a little below this so its’ not really great value for money. Samrat is not a terrible place it is simply very ordinary and not a place you’d want to visit time and again.

This isn’t my favourite Indian restaurant in Liverpool, I’m not sure if Liverpool is lucky enough to have really good quality Indian’s and this one just doesn’t meet the standards of the others, or if this is poor. The food isn’t that great, mild curries are often too spicy which isn’t good if you’re not a ‘hot’ curry lover. The popadoms arrived after the starters and the naan was offered over halfway through the main meal. The prices aren’t bad, but they’re slightly steep considering the quality of the food and service. The drinks are pretty good for an Indian restaurant with the usual Cobra beers but a pretty decent wine list which accompanies the very spicy meals well.
