Don’t get me wrong. his place isn’t terrible it’s just a bit meh. I, unfortunately, am a creature of habit and after being spoilt for 2 years by having an Itsu a mere 100 metres from my work, visiting Abokado was just a bit of a let down. To be fair I’ve only eaten the salmon sushimi and the chicken teriyaki but it all just tasted a little bland and perhaps not as fresh as I would have liked. The Chicken teriyaki sauce here was definitely not as good as Itsu and I was dissapointed by their selection of hot food. Having said that, a colleague of mine has recommended their breakfast on numerous occasions so perhaps I should go back and try! The shop itself is small and clean but being on city road it feels a little crowded and rushed.(Not a fault of the restaurant obviously) It all feels a little clinical with white floors and aluminum fridges and their signature green is splashed around in a way that makes it feel almost like a hospital canteen. The staff were very friendly though which is always a bonus and their portion sizes are similar to Itsu(if not a tiny bit bigger). Overall I think I am just used to something else and this didn’t quite live up to that. Having said that if you are in the mood for sushi then its definitely convenient and tasty enough.

I’ve grabbed quick lunches here and I’ve had their coffee and I’m pleased with both. The prices are reasonable, the service is quick, and the quality of the food is really good. I like it because it stands out in the sea of sandwich, sushi, and burrito chains. I’m not up here often, but when I’m in the mood for a quick bite, this is my first choice.

I’m a massive fan of Abokado, especially their noodle soups! At £5.69 for a large noodle soup, it’s not cheap but as a noodle aficionado, this places gets my vote and especially the Sizzling Coconut Chicken™(so good, it’s even trademarked!) Seeing the other reviews, I must go back and try their sushi and rice dishes. I’m so addicted to their noodle soups, it’s hard for me to go off piste. In an area with such a wide selection of takeaway places, Abokado offers a refreshing selection and on top of that, super friendly staff!

Pretty good sushi to go or eat in if you want too. The price is fear and they don’t charge you extra for wasabi, soy sauce or ginger :) The hot dishes are good and sometimes if they are not on the display you can ask them to make it for you! Too bad that they don’t open on during the weekend I would love if they do! I guess that after 3pm they have a especial discount too!

I was craving sushi BIGTIME and this place did not disappoint. It’s pretty big compared to the Abokado next to my office on Baker Street and has a really cute little seating area, which was handy because I basically bought the entire store’s supply of Sushi. Okay, that may be an exaggeration, but I bought so much I felt sick after and that’s pretty hard to do with sushi. The sushi platters are excellent, fresh sushi and rice that holds together long enough to be able to dip it in soy, and boy, it’s like a sponge with the amount it soaks up! It also came with a nice salad so if it’s possible to feel guilty eating sushi, you can balance it out with something definitely healthy. I also tried a ‘Schwrap’ for the first time and I’m in LOVE. These things are genius. A sushi roll wrapped in nori, it’s easy to eat on the go, REALLY filling and comes with cream cheese and salmon filling, or chili chicken. Okay, so not completely traditional but SOGOOD. We also went all out and tried their desserts too. You get a lot of bang for your buck here because the portion sizes are huge. I’ve never been able to buy a brownie the size of my hand before. Whoa. It was all good, very filling and so chocolatey I wanted to swoon. The staff were really friendly, smiley and patiently waited for us to dither over which dessert we wanted before deciding that ‘all’ was the right answer and the location is excellent, right around the corner from Old Street station so it was a hop, skip and a jump back to the Underground. Couldn’t get any better.

A great place to grab sushi on the go, they have a huge selection of everything from full platters of sushi and salad all the way down to Shraps(Sushi wrapped in Nori). They’ve got a really airy seating area and great fresh coffee. The only down side is that it’s not particularly economical. But then I guess that’s completely subjective! If you want some sushi on the go, I recommend them.

Abokado’s a great choice if you’re looking for good, healthy fast food in London. They specialise in sushi but also do udon noodle soups, oriental salads and healthy brown rice pots. It’s the first place I’ll go to if I need to pick up something for a quick lunch or something to balance out last nights indulgences(burgers, pints and possibly more burgers) and even though it’s likely to be slightly more expensive than a sandwich, you can tell it’s all super fresh and worth paying for. The river run sushi box with fresh salmon and tuna is one of my faves and is usually priced around £6.99 For me, Abokado is a place that is on the way to a world I want to live in. Fresh sushi on tap at reasonable prices works for me and although Abokado is never going to replace the fine dining of a great restaurant or even be like Yo! and somewhere you’d meet for dinner with friends, they do very well at what they do as a takeaway or quick snack service.

Interesting lunch food, with a bias towards healthy eating and asian flavours. Staff friendly and very energetic. Enjoyed the food.

Fine, if somewhat indifferent and EAT/Pret-ty(also pretty, but, really more like Pret or EAT.) Japanese lunch. It’s not bad. It’s got quite a few things right. It’s also not fabulous, and portion size is a real problem. I suppose if I didn’t cycle 8 – 10 miles to/from work each day I might be more filled. It’s like those soup places. That being said, if you’re not too hungry, the soups here are better than the similar ones at EAT. And the duck rolls are nice, too. The sushi, not so much, though it’s tough to make good sushi that sits around for a while. So, yeah. Three stars. Does the job, but nothing particularly special. Unless you’re an EAT/Pret-ty refugee and you don’t want to test the waters of the real food folk round the way.
