I’ve been to the Adventure bar in both Clapham and Covent Garden on numerous occasions and it has been fun every.single.time. Think dancing on tables, super, friendly bar staff, lively atmosphere, delicious cocktails, crazy, fun vibes and, most importantly, tune after TUNE being played. I would thoroughly recommend this place on any night of the week(which also has a collection of board games and beer ping pong). Having said that, it’s worth getting there for happy hour for two reasons: a) cocktails are a fiver b) you can get a table for the night(unless it’s reserved) and not have to elbow your way through a mass of people on the dancefloor for the entire night.

Friend of a friend reserved a table here for her birthday on a Saturday night. Happy hour of £5 cocktails til 9pm. Cocktail menu was heavy on fruity tropical drinks. The surfers paradise frozen cocktail, laden with passion fruit, mango, and pineapple, made me feel like I’d been transported to the islands. Didn’t try the food here but the menu looked like standard pub fare, nothing gastro about it. Beer pong table was put away around 8pm to make room for the slowly infiltrating dance party ready crowds. All Bar One next door seemed to be more populated in comparison. Don’t know what was going on because(based on my friends commentary, not from experience), the place is usually packed by this hour. Maybe just an off night or maybe everyone was busy watching the bonfire weekend fireworks display. Bartenders were free pouring it up, which is a welcome change from the precise measuring they’re all about in this country. My bartender opted to go hard with the theatrical aspect of bartending, including plenty of cheesy jokes and fun glasses in the air moves. They brought us over a round of free shots to end the night, which was a nice gesture, but not an overly generous one given our group had cumulatively ordered at least 30 drinks. Cell signal and wifi signal were both weak, which was a slight annoyance. Decent mix of new and old tunes, but they definitely had their playlist on repeat. After hearing every song about 3 times over, we called it a night and headed out.

Cocktails for £5 Thursday — Sunday until midnight?! That’s a happy hour(or several) if I ever did see one! Kinda kitschy but cool décor inside, nice atmosphere when we went for after work drinks. There was a beer pong table set up in the middle of the bar… a little weird for a Wednesday night but whatever floats your boat Adventure Bar! They also have this cool separate area which would be so great for a party. It’s not 100% private but it’s off to the side. I imagine it gets pretty busy on a weekend. Great little area in Clapham Junction. A few other nice pubs/bars nearby.

A well-earned review update: After being closed since the springtime, Adventure Bar recently reopened and really surprised me with the new look at feel! It’s now more than twice the size, having spread into the storefront next door and moving the restrooms downstairs. It’s a bit of a horseshoe shape with the bar at the pack. There are proper tables in the front on both sides. There is beer pong for those so inclined. There is a food menu. A FOODMENU! The classic Adventure favorite cocktails are still there, with some new ones added in too(one features a real cricket — I won’t be partaking). Although many moons have passed since the days where I visited Adventure on a regular basis, I’m really glad to see it reborn in such a classy way. The whole look and feel of the place is a lot more grown up. Still definitely fun(the old-timey diver’s helmet on the wall at a height that you can stand«into» it for example), but also just plain classier. The music is still loud, but the barstaff are also still amazing. It was one and my first Unilocal reviews and I still love it over 900 reviews later!

For a start-of-the-night bar, there are few better options than Adventure Bar. I’ve been to almost every instalment of this chain in London and it has consistently lived up to expectations. I don’t mean to imply this is the best bar in town, but it does what I need it to before a big night out. The drinks are potent which makes the happy hours very happy indeed. A flaming Zombie(think Long Island Iced Tea but stronger) costs you a shade under £10 and when the 2−4−1 specials are on, £10 is pretty much all you need to get a good buzz going. As Leon mentioned, if you are going to spend some time here, buy the bartender a shot and you’ll notice a definite improvement in the speed of service! After all, who doesn’t like a guy who buys them drinks? The music selection varies greatly depending on which bartender’s iPod is plugged in but as a rule they go for upbeat high energy mixes. Let’s be honest, the more excited I get, the more I will end up drinking and dancing so it’s good for both of us to play more Black Eyed Peas and less Swan Lake(does anyone play this off an iPod to begin with?). Overall, a fun place to go which isn’t too hard on the wallet. Get in, get a drink, and when it starts to get too full, get out on the town!

If you’re in the mood, there aren’t many places in which to have a better time(in the CJ area). Between this bar and B@1, they’ve got the pumping loud music, strong/expensive cocktails and dancing on tables scene pretty much sewn up. The one thing that really grates(aside from the prices) are the staff. Having visited a couple of their other bars, I’ve come to the conclusion that their bartenders are under strict instruction to shout, dance and act like ADHD step-children at all times. By the time the 4th member of staff has shook your hand and introduced themselves and forced small talk upon you(really, I just want my drink), you question whether you want to go to the bar again… especially as you’re likely to have the words of an already overly-loud song screeamed in your face as they desperately try and convince you they’re having the best time of their lives. It’s all a bit contrived. Buuuuuut, if you are indeed in the mood, and have already had a few jars, it might just be the most endearing thing and you’ll fall in love with the staff, and the bar. I’ll send my friends to get the drinks next time.

Went with a group of friends for pizza and tequila shots. That’s all I remember.

I took a group of girls along to this bar on a Saturday afternoon for cocktails. And yes, it was the happy hour that persuaded me to go here. Buy one get one free makes it reasonable and gives you a chance to try out some ones. I sampled about 5 different cocktails all of which were well-prepared and tasty. The bar staff were a little cocky, and the music was OK(after we requested a few tracks). Beware it’s a small place though. My party of 10 pretty much filled it up. I can definitely recommend the mint, ice-cream cocktail which was essentially a dessert in a glass.

Adventure Battersea is a great little bar where the staff seem to enjoy being there as much as the customers. It has a late license on Friday, Saturday and the young, professional crowds keep the bartenders very busy. You do have to battle to get to the cramped bar, but the constant special offers, and party atmosphere make it a destination place in busy Battersea. A trick to getting served quickly is to offer the bartenders Jagermeister shots. You’ll get your drinks fast and make very good friends.

+ Venture(pronounced add venture) is a really good little bar, there is one in Clapham Junction on Battersea rise and one in Balham 5 mins walk, right out of the station, behind Sainsburys. Every day, yes, even on the weekends they have 2 for 1 on their great cocktails(and usually on a bottled beers if you prefer not to be shaken or stirred) which works out about £3.25 for a cocktail, and they don’t skimp on the booze either. Even better they usually have a special of the evening which is cheap even after the happy hour has ended. For a recommendation you have to try the ‘Uncle Vanya’ it tastes like Lemon sherbet. Absolutely lovely just make sure you have enough water or despite your reasonable bar bill, you’ll be paying the price the next day!
