My absolute favourite sushi place in London. Real shame it has now closed, but hopefully will be open again soon!

In the midst of dismal food options, Aji Ichiban is a decent place for Japanese food. Oyako Don(Chicken with Egg and Rice) was okay, perhaps slightly too sweet, and the ramen was decent but medicore on the scale of ramen in London. The tofu dishes(Hiyayakko and Agedashi) are my favorite. What Aji Ichiban excels at the most is sushi. The sashimi and sushi are fresh and truly outshines everything else on the menu. I get the Age Dashi Sashimi which comes 3 pieces each of scallop, yellowtail, seabass, salmon, seabream, and tuna. The uni here is really good too!

Great place for lunch! Lovely atmosphere, very simple and the waitresses are very friendly! They have a separate lunch menu for only £5.90! I ordered the miso ramen, was very tasty! Definitely going back to try more of the dishes on their lunch menu!

This is a very non-showy restaurant, full of ‘normal looking people’ as another reviewer commented, sounding thoroughly surprised. It’s comfortable and quiet. I’ve been here once, and for starters I had edamame. It was fresh, warm but not hot, and perfectly salted. We shared a sashimi platter, which worked out around a pound per piece, which is perhaps a shade dear, but some of the pieces were of a good side and it was much higher quality and perhaps fresher than I was expecting. By London standards, it was very positive. For main course we both had the same miso-based ramen. The broth was fine but unexceptional, under-salted I’d say and not up to what you might find in a trendier place in Soho. The noodles were pretty good, but again not top quality. The pork in the ramen really was excellent though, superbly soft, almost falling apart. And I don’t normally consider fish sticks to be food, but theirs were soft and delicious. The service was quiet but friendly and efficient, at a time when the place was not overly busy. I’d give four and a half stars if I could, but I will be back, and will be eating a shit-ton of their sashimi when I do.

This place is a gem. After many years of deciding not to pay for overpriced Japanese food, a friend invited us to join them in Greenwich. Upon first look I was surprised at how busy it is in here, and not just with an upscale, trendy crowd. It seemed«normal» people were also eating here. The staff are friendly and accomodating, and they dealt well with the fact that our group included a small child. They serve a wide variety of dishes here, including sushi, sashimi, and tempura, and various noodle dishes. Having lived in the San Francisco Bay Area(I know, bla bla bla ;-) I am a stickler for very fresh fish. It didn’t disappoint at all on that front. To show how affordable, we each had sake, a beer, shared a sashimi main each plus gyoza, and we all paid just over £20 including the tip. I will definitely return to this restaurant. Even though it’s in Greenwich, it’s very close to the station, and actually it’s easier to reach than some central London destinations. And it’s certainly more affordable than others, while holding up a similar quality level.

Not great. We had to wait a long time for our ramen. I think they forgot out order. Maybe they had a bad day.

I really like the quality of sushi and sashimi at Ajiichiban, I’m very picky about sushi and have had a hard time finding places in London worthy enough for my patronage but this one has it. Very fresh, decent price(it is pricey but it’s London so is value for London), servers are very friendly. Only negative and reason I don’t give them 5 stars is on a few busy nights we were there(place full) they really couldn’t handle it and the service level dropped considerably(long wait, not attentive at all, told us ½ hr after we sat down that they had run out of avocado on a Saturday night and most roles contain avocado!) I’d personally love if they’d be a bit more adventurous with their special rolls(I’ve got suggestions!) but otherwise simply delicious.

It is OK, but the ramen broth was a bit bland and lacked the fresh ramen noodles one can get elsewhere. Service a little slow, but otherwise good. Not amazingly good, but it’s a solid option.

Was in the area and went here for a late lunch with a friend. We walked in a couple minutes before 3pm, and we were immediately told that they closed in thirty minutes so we had to «order quickly.» It made the service kind of awkward, especially since the place was completely empty except for us. However, the food made up for this. There is a nice selection of vegetarian menu items including sweet potato tempura! The avocado maki sushi was excellent and filling. The mixed salad was surprisingly generous – very fresh with super tasty tomato dressing drizzled on top. Overall, we both spent less than £10 each and felt very healthy and satisfied. Relaxing, clean interior, delicious food, and only a minute from Cutty Sark DLR.

Authentic Japanese restaurant. Not tons of character, but enough that you trust that you will get an authentic meal. Very solid(not great) ramen at VERY reasonable prices. There’s lots of selection on the menu. I wouldn’t try the sushi, it looks suspicious. The mochi for dessert was solid.

Popped in for lunch today and WOW! Best Japanese food I’ve had for ages! We had the lunch menu I had chicken teriyaki donburi and a salmon skin handroll my friend had the katsu curry and gyoza. Not the cheapest but the presentation is beautiful, the food was amazing. Definite bonus for Greenwich!

Tonight was the first time we have had such great food at such an affordable price in London!!! The staff were lovely and the food excellent. We started with some Spicy Tuna Maki followed by Sashmi. Then we moved onto the hot food, Spider Tempura then the Fried Beef in a spicy Japanese sauce. Everything was very fresh and light we even had room to go back to the sushi and ordered a portion of the Sa;mon and Avocado Maki. All washed done with a bottle of the very reasonably priced and tasty house Sake. Strongly recommended for every element of a good date night!!! Will be back very soon !!!
