Ive been drinking in the Angerstein for years Baz the manager is amazing and so are the rest of the staff. Us custumers aint too bad either! Best pub ive ever drank in, thats why i travel an hours journey a few nights a week! Best atmosphere for the football aswell as they have a t. v outside for us smokers!!!

Just moved into the area and have been looking for a local pub. The Angerstein really does fit the bill. Friendly customers and staff. Reasonably priced drinks and a nice feel to the place. I would definately recommend the place

The Angerstein(named after a prominent local landowner John Julius Angerstein) is an imposing looking pub situated about 50m west of the Woolwich Road flyover where the Blackwall Tunnel southern approach flies over the Greenwich-Woolwich road. The space is divided into two areas: a long narrow area and a larger area dominated by a large screen(usual Sky sports), with a small stage over to one side(occasional live music). It’s not the smartest pub in the area, but the staff are friendly enough and it can be a useful stop-off if you’re going to the retail park(Sainsbury’s, Comet, B&Q) — all about five minutes away. For football fans going to The Valley, Charlton, it’s about a 10 – 15 minute walk. Smokers can shelter behind(appropriately enough) some smoked glass screens outside, where there are some benches giving a good view of the constantly passing cars and buses.

Good location and well spaced. Most customers are local people so it’s quite friendly. Equipped with a big screen in the meddle so you can hang out with stags watching sports in the evening. The place is big enough to arrange a private party and of course good beer on the tab. Children-friendly as well.
