Good food with great taste. Would be nice if they managed better We had our Saturday lunch in Anjappar. We were at the restaurant by 1.30 pm and it was not crowded. We ordered their nenjelumbu soup and mutton sukka for starters. It was a great combo but before we finished it, they set the main course on the table. The same chain of restaurants back in Chennai is famous for its service. Which is a big miss here. As we had our main course, we did see a few missed orders. A tray of pooris was taken to almost every table until someone said that they had ordered for it! Gosh! Around 2 pm when there were more people, the orders were getting mixed. If they do not have someone experienced in handling the service, not many will ever dine in again! If you don’t care about the service and crave for real Tamil food, this is the place. The place is clean and neat, including the washrooms.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am happy to announce that I have discovered a wonderful Southern Indian restaurant along East Ham High St. Opposite East Ham station, place is quiet spacious, not too shabby as it does tend to get busy toward the evening. Our waiter was friendly, informative and efficient. Me and my friends opted for the Thali meal — though it’s a Southern Indian restaurant, meat option is available. We did wait quiet awhile for our food but once arrived we were not disappointed — the quality of the food ordered was made to perfection.

I’m genuinely conflicted about how to score this. Service was appallingly bad. It’s not that it was unfriendly, just completely ineffectual; it took forever between every interaction for anything to happen, and it often took multiple requests to resolve things. With that said, the food was sublimely good. This is brilliantly authentic South Indian cuisine, or so I’m assured by my Tamil friend who took us. Curries and grills were uniformly superb. Everything was delicious — excellent spicing, cooked just right. Granted, I was very hungry, which always colours my view, but we all agreed that the food was absolutely great. Likewise, their mango lassi is some of the best I’ve ever had. Never before have I not missed having beer(which I do not believe they serve) so much. Whilst you are provided with cutlery, you can simply eat with your hands … it’s quite a liberating experience, and one you can rarely get away with when it comes to Indian food in London. I’m not talking«scoop up a bit of curry with a naan»; I mean literally scooping up curry and rice with your fingers. Décor was unremarkable, but fine. The place seemed clean and the toilets seemed in good shape. How amazing this place could be if it just had a stronger service component. Nonetheless, in spite of the this, I would recommend visiting, even if you live quite a way away. I find myself craving it, and it’s hard to scratch that itch elsewhere … Also, prices were obscenely fair. Which is always nice.
