They certainly have everything here, good produce and a great variety from around the world as well. A whole Isle was set aside for world foods. I did jot ice that most of the world foods were from the middle east and far east. but that could be down to the demographics of the local area. They have a good range of clothes and homewards upstairs and feels more like a hyperstore than a superstore. They would have got 5 stars, but when we went there yesterday at about 5pm, a lot of the fish veg was running low and some veg that you would expect to see wasn’t available at all. I was looking in particular for butternut, but they had nothing available. Parking is good, you get a couple of hours free which is a bonus and there is 2 levels to the parking, one underground so you manage to stay dry if it’s raining.

Asda pizza is so good. No wonder is has won all sorts of supermarket pizza awards. I love it. Good way to have a nice night in. This is a much bigger store than any British supermarket. And much cheaper for the same sort of stuff. If I lived around here, this would be my place.

Huge! They have almost anything you will need at cheap prices. I work the normal 9 – 5 and can’t make Northcote market during the week so it’s off to Asda I go! I know that it’s a huge, evil, corporate, but when I need bread/rice/veg, the store is there, open 24 hours for me. The important thing to remember is to no go on a Sunday afternoon… it’s a madhouse!

Not sure why the low scores. I’d love to have a massive 24 hour, affordable fresh food market just down the road from me or even just supermarkets that have better quality food(like in Spain or France) but we don’t in this country. As superstores go this one is actually pretty tolerable since they refurbed it a couple of years ago. The range is now pretty good and the clothing and other non-food section on the mezzanine level is great if you’re on a budget(gardening and BBQ stuff around this time of year is great and a bargain!). I get all my basics here: dry goods like pasta and rice, tinned stuff, ingredients, bread, cereals, etc. Plus for basic fresh stuff like minced beef, salad, apples, onions and the like it’s as good as anywhere. I’d love to get all my food from Farmers’ markets or Waitrose but I just can’t afford to, nor can most people. Getting day to day stuff here then getting fancy stuff from markets or elsewhere from time to time is the way to go when you’re on a budget. I used to shop at Sainsbury’s and a shop that would’ve cost me £90 at Sainsbury’s is now £70 or even less at ASDA and similar in quality. Wine is a particular stand-out example for me. You can ALWAYS get a really decent bottle of Crianza Rioja in ASDA for £5 or less, in Sainsbury’s or Tesco you’re looking at £6 plus. In my house we get through a LOT of wine therefore this is a big money-saver for us.

I really don’t understand why the low scoring. Its cheap. Its good quality for the price Its convenient. Its not going to be as posh as waitrose but it gets the job done. I think the problem is having to go at peak hours. I can see how things could get hairy there. Its a decent place to find anything and everything, its busy at all hours of the day but inexpensive places are naturally going to be busy. Get your head phones blaring with music you enjoy and go there with a good attitude. You’re might need some patience, but its worth it.

Asda, otherwise known as Wal-mart to my fellow Americans, is an experience. I hate this place(both in the US and UK), but it’s 5 minutes down the road from me and cheaper than anything else around. Anyone who experiences the cost of living in London knows that cheap is good. So, I suck it up and do my weekly food shopping for £20. That being said it is always overcrowded, you will be run over by shopping trolleys everytime you turn the corner and there are screaming children all over the place. After reading this, I think I’ll just stick to online shopping!

The horror! The HORROR! Asda and Primark are in the same category: massive warehouse type stores which only sell dirt cheap, sweatshop manufactured JUNK. I always end up going to Asda in an effort to save money and I always end up hating myself for it and nearly losing my mind trying to fight crowds of people who seem to be unsure of how to operate shopping carts/trolleys. It’s a total disaster. People literally pushing each other out of the way for 20p loaves of bread. It’s pure pandemonium and I’m simply not cut out for it. I can’t take large crowds and I have a massive guilty conscience shopping in places like this. It truly is an incredible bargain at Asda and I wouldn’t fault people on a budget for shopping there, but I’d really rather pay a little bit more and not risk tearing my hair out(or someone else’s).

A real supermarket in London! Amayzing! This place has most Asda ranges– cooked chickens etc, ready made pizzas, george clothing, toys and seasonal ranges, plus the usual food, cleaning etc products. The prices are what you would expect from Asda, with lots of offers on. The fruit and Veg area is a good size too.

Actually quite rate this place. Worth going to for the undercover parking and the savings in this credit crunch times. It can get quite crowded so avoid the obvious times, but as it it open 24 hours its pretty convenient.
