We asked for a sweet white wine and the server brought us 2 variants to sample. The wine that we chose was the off-dry Riesling by Framingham. It was one of the best white wines I have ever tasted. We were brought a sack of warm bread and soft butter to start. Then I ordered the Grey Mullet starter which was a tender cut of fish flesh soaked in shallots. The Honey Glazed Pork Belly main was perfectly crisp and bacon bits were added for smoky flavour. The fondant potatoes were creamy and soft with a sweep of apple purée. We ordered the cheeseboard to share which had grapes, chutney and thin crackers. The creamiest blue cheese that I had ever tasted was on the board. I enquired about it and I was told that it was called Blue Monday. The cheese is from the dairy of Alex James from Blur. This was a delightful restaurant, although quite pricey. I think that it is perfect for a special occasion.

Nice intimate restaurant situated in hotel. Staff welcomed us, took costs and were seated promptly. Good service. Actual hot soup and bread! A bit slack on keeping the wine topped up but this seems to be modern challenge for waiting staff these days! Food was nice, would come again
