Apparently brunch is just as much an institution in London as in New York or DC, and like those cities London has clearly developed a plethora of excellent places to go, as well as a dire need for reservations. We arrived just as they opened at 11am and by the time we were done eating this place was packed! No surprise, given how impressive it was. The restaurant occupies a couple of archways under a railroad track, giving it an old school feel aesthetically, balanced by the spare modern décor. The service is wicked quick, drinks and food showed up before my stomach even realized it was hungry. The mimosa was par for the course but my meal was delectable, soft scrambled eggs and plenty of spicy chorizo on sourdough toast, and the bites I took of my friend’s fluffy ricotta pancakes were equally delicious. If my currency conversion in my head was right, it was a little pricy, but for such a great experience it was worth it. This has got to be one of London’s best low-key brunch spots for the chill kids who don’t need a lot of glitz and glamour.

I’ve only ever gone to the Beagle for drinks but have always found it to be a great experience. The staff are great and very friendly. The drinks are ‘London prices’ so if you are after some cheap drinks this isn’t the place for you. The atmosphere is really nice and they have a great selection of outside seating with heat lamps. You can be sat outside in winter and it’s not too cold under those lamps. Highly recommend if you are passing Hoxton overground.

Conveniently located next to the Hoxton station, Beagle is a nice and spacious café and restaurant. We only came in to have some coffee and tea but it was nice. The staff was also very friendly and hope to be coming back soon!

I booked Beagle for a brunch with friends on a sunny Sunday. The menu doesn’t have a large selection but I actually prefer this than too much choice and not good quality! You will find some classic dishes with eggs on toast variations but also some more creative ones such as the pastrami toastie which I went for — the combination of pastrami and sauerkraut can be surprising but it worked really well — we had our eyes on the ricotta pancakes to share for the sweet notes but unfortunately we were to full, so we will have to come back! We couldn’t get a table outside but it’s worth trying if the weather is good. The location is a good starting point to explore East London and Columbia Road.

Beagle is a beautiful place to go to for brunch. We didn’t make a reservation but thankfully they were able to accommodate us. We both ordered a breakfast cocktail, which was a bloody mary and a rhubarb mimosa. Our server was having issues with entering his orders resulting in a 20 min wait for our drinks. He was apologetic, since it happened to him with another table. I ordered the fried eggs on toast with mushrooms. The yolk of the eggs were so orange and delicious. The quality of the exotic mushrooms, were top notch. My only complaint was that the toast was too hard. It was difficult using a knife and fork, I wanted to just pick it up and eat it, but figured that wasn’t a very lady like approach. Beagle is far more than just a place for brunch, they have a full bar, barista station and an amazing patio. I could see myself coming back for a drink in the summertime on their patio.

Great place to brunch — really cool location and an awesome interior. Food and drinks are good, but not as good as the atmosphere.

The service was amazing, the atmosphere was rather nice and the food incredible! The scrambled eggs were my favourite part of the meal, but I can’t complain about any of it!

I came to Beagle to meet a group of friends who chose the place. We only had a drink before going to a restaurant so we didn’t stay long and i’ll review accordingly. I like the atmosphere as i walked into that dark yet attractive bar. We were seated at a table and quite comfortably regarding the number of people we were. I ordered at the bar and i’ll admit i was quite lost facing the choice of beers. I didn’t know any of them and i still have a hard time understanding the beer codification in the UK(different than ours in France). It seemed to be high-end crafted beers you wouldn’t find everywhere though. So i asked the barman for advice on something i would like regarding my preferences. He made me taste the different beers until i found the one that suited me. How nice of him ! I didn’t look around too much but from what i gathered i really like the place. After looking at the pictures on Unilocal i think i’ll come back for a meal. It looks delicious.

This is a review just for their Sunday night jazz. But, based on our night there, I will definitely be back to try the brunch and review the food! We happened to be in the area during the day on Sunday and noticed a blackboard promoting their Sunday jazz night(starting at 7pm) and £5 cocktails. Since it is only about a 15 minute walk from our house and the weather wasn’t too chilly, we decided to check it out! They had three cocktails for £5, yes, you heard that right only £5. I will admit I had all three… in one night… but my gosh, for £15, I had three cocktails. In some places in London that would only get you one! The day we went, they had a Sazerac(rye whiskey, cognac, anise, sugar) Bitches Brew(bourbon, sweet vermouth, monastic liqueur, wormwood) and a Hurricane(light and dark rum, passion fruit, orange, pineapple, bitters) available. The Sazerac took me straight back to my trips to New Orleans — really on point! All three drinks were really tasty and also strong enough. You would think for £5 they might be a bit light handed with the alcohol but they were the right balance of alcohol and other flavors. So the drinks were on point but the jazz was also fantastic! The group of three(keyboard, drums and bass) were really talented and played a great mix of classic and contemporary songs. I had a chat with the bartender that stated they have two other groups and the three of them rotate Sundays. The drinks and jazz were great and the café was surprisingly only half full, adding to the laid back vibe. The Beagle also has an outdoor space that is even great in the winter(we sat out there after the jazz finished up around 9) as they have tons of heat lamps. It’s the perfect place to wind down your weekend! Low key and relaxing. It might end up becoming our Sunday night tradition!

Oh my gosh. The hash was incredible. The wife’s sourdough, scram and avocado creation was probably better. Coffee fantastic. Beautiful looking place in a great part of town. Worth all the hype and highly recommended!

Impressed, as who would have thought a restaurant under the arches of a London Overground station could serve such good food. Very well executed, just the right touch of inventive and fusion, but sticking to great tried and tested combinations. Service was good and efficient. Food took a little bit of time to prepare, but I chalk it down to being there on the dot at 6:30pm when they opened. A bonus is the great outdoor seating when the weather is nice. But be aware that during the evenings, the sun will shine strongly on the outdoor seating, so be prepared to get a tan if you want to dine outdoors!

Came to the Beagle for their Sunday night jazz offering, which includes a selection of three 5 pound cocktails. It was a great way to spend a few hours, and the bitches brew cocktail was amazing — cold, smooth, with a real maraschino cherry on top. Jazz trio was excellent and the place had an industrial manhattan vibe. It’s great to sit indoors, but the patio is heated so smokers can enjoy the cocktails and jazz sounds too. Huge recommend for a place to while away Sunday evening in Shoreditch. They lose one star because no food was available except small snacks like nuts and olives… otherwise it was stellar.

I have to admit right off the bat that I come from a place with rather bland food culture, so my review may be inflated simply by virtue of the fact that the food here tasted GOOD. But judging by the other reviews, my five-star rating is not too far off. We had a late dinner here and the whole experience was just impeccable. The waitress explained not only exactly which farm my chicken came from but also that the chef spends every night coming up with new flavour combinations for the menu for the next day. And regardless of that she was able to make a delicious substitution when I explained I didn’t eat potatoes. We had starters and mains and everything was fresh, clean, delicious and it was clear that no shortcuts had been taken in the cooking or creating of the food. I’m dreaming of coming back here for brunch the next time I am in town!

Came here for brunch with the family. My husband ordered the roast rump and I had the pancakes with eggs on the side we also ordered a couple of drinks. Everything tasted very delicious and fresh. If you’re going for a big meal be prepared to cough up the dough! This place is pretty pricey. Overall good food, great décor, good service. But expensive!

Just for the coffee shop: the coffee is pretty good, the pastries are crisp and delicious but the service was pretty bad, why do we come to expect pretentiousness as synonymous with luxury in London? Why do I feel like I have to be extra nice to the coffee-barman just so he doesn’t judge me for not being as elite in my knowledge of his beans? It may be London but it isn’t all doom and gloom. Crank up the 80s classics and get steaming that soya!

Came here on a Sunday for brunch and immediately loved the archway décor. The open space and bright atmosphere made up for the cloudy day. They were serving both brunch and lunch and I opted to look at the lunch menu, which seems to change daily. The grililed eggplant(aubergine yea yea.) with labneh on griddle bread brought in elements of Mediterranean food and the beetroot, pink sorreel, and egg salad came with a light tart dressing that brought everything together. I can definitely see coming here as regular! – Came here again, this time for dinner. Onglet was so tender and I loooooved the triple fried chips. Everything should be at LEAST triple fried I say!

This place is 5 stars PLUS! The brunch place I have been waiting for. The space itself is gorgeous. Great ambiance, better service, but the best is the food(as it should at a restaurant). If you are in for brunch, I recommend the Eggs and Hash. Absolutely perfect. The waiter explained that they don’t buy individual cuts of meat, but instead buy whole sides of the animal and process the meat themselves. This allows them to keep the prices low(dinner entrees are around 15 quid. which is a steal)… simply awesome. Top 10 in London for me easily.

Bliss at the Beagle. It was a rainy, dreary Saturday afternoon — and I basically hadn’t eaten since like Thursday. Ok, like 11pm the night before, but I was realllllly hungry and running on coffee fumes. I had timed this brunch with the precision of a surgeon — tire child out for 2 hours at Gymboree, hop directly on overground and head straight to somewhere with eggs and bloody marys and all the coffee. Hope that child has exhausted himself enough to crash between point A and point B. And on this day, it worked like a charm. That baby snoozed through brunch like a champ. 5 stars for him and 5 stars for Beagle! This is railway arch restaurant done correctly, folks. Industrial reuse, yet stylish and warm. We recently dined at Mission(Bethnal Green) and found the opposite to be true of that space… so we were delighted Beagle was such a showstopper. The location(entrance near Hoxton overground) feels tucked in, situated behind the Geffrye Museum in a little offshoot — almost like a promenade or alleyway. An alley of all the things I needed! Our server was also a gem, from start to finish with multiple coffees, drinks, waters, brunch plates and a quick bit of humour. Very nice fellow. The crowd was as comfortable as the space. It was hospitably Hoxton, which I find much easier to swallow than Super Shoreditch. Groups of friends, a few small babies here and there, couples, everyone just enjoying this mellow afternoon at The Beagle. The space flows well, has elbow room, is laid out so actual people can fit into it and enjoy their meals and drinks. Genius. Salmon, eggs and toast? Wonderful. Fried eggs and hash? Perfect. Sides of avocados and mushrooms — lovely. There wasn’t a speck of food to be found after we’d finished. My only regret was not having enough time to imbibe on that Bloody Mary menu. Next time, next time. We will definitely be coming back here. Looks like a great space to drink in the summer on the large expansive sidewalk terraces. Count me in!

I wanted so much to like this place… and I did! BAM. 5 stars! You got it, Beagle! I think this is one of the best price/atmosphere/quality/quantity deals in London. I’m talking food, here, as I have yet to spend a night at Beagle just knocking back liver juice(proposed new term for cocktails; just testing it out). First off, the space: it is gorgeous, but not pretentious. The converted railway arches creates great drama, and symmetry, and little touches like fleece throws for those seated outside and Aesop hand scrub in the bathroom got *thumbs up* from this gal. Second, the service: it is so, so perfect. Attentive, but not overbearing. Proper, but not pretentious. Servers are savvy. Front of house are polite and warm. Beagle staff go a long way in building up a great impression even before the food arrives. Oh, but the food. Delicious things like smoked mackerel and perfectly scotched(that’s not a really a verb, is it?) eggs. I don’t usually like mega-chunky chips, but I make an exception here: super crispy on the outside, and hella-fluffy on the inside. The cesar salad comes with substantial amounts of anchovy(give ‘em a try, don’t be shy!), and a much-more-than-light-dusting of parmesan. The chicken is perfectly roasted with crisp skin. My favourite thing is, bizarrely enough, one of their sides: grilled gem lettuce with spring onion and mint, and a really delicious perfectly savoury dressing. Literally of all the Beagle goods I’ve put in my pie-hole, the only thing that wasn’t _perfect_were the smoked pollock fishcakes served on a delicious bed of chard and topped with a poached egg. The combination of smoke and seasoning made them too salty for my tastes(and I’m a salt-lover). Drink selection is *significant*. SIGNIFICANTLYDELICIOUSAMIRITE? I’ve always been too full after starters and sides and mains to go for dessert, but one day I will. It’s on my stomach’s bucket list. Unilocal note: want more? You want *more* incentives to go? Fine. It’s literally a stone’s throw(try it? I bet you could *literally* throw a stone) from Hoxton Station. Getting home in a jiffy just sweetens the deal.
