I met the lovely SJ at a magazine event in September, so when I found myself in her neck of the woods and needed a blow dry I was sure to pop in.
I was actually getting my hair styled for a Halloween event, so I took advantage of the blow dry and Halloween makeup deal (£40) which was brilliant. I had the makeup of the undead with the hair of a Hollywood starlet after 40 minutes in the capable hands of SJ and team.
Usual blowdries are £25, a very nice price, and the finish is fab — lasted 3 days, even with getting caught in a rain shower! I’ll be returning when next I’m in the city and needing a helping hand with my hair.

I picked up a flyer at a nail salon a few blocks away on Commercial St advertising a £19 introductory rate for a blow dry at this place. Online bookings, 10 minute walk from my office near Liverpool St station and they open at 6:30am? Sold.
The focus of this salon seems to be about fast results. Under 30 min wash and style guaranteed (45 min max for long hair). They also offer an under 20 min dry style updo option and even claim to be able to cobble together a quality dry style in under 10 minutes! I opted for the wash and style, which all in all took about 45 min (my hair is long and thick) so they kept their word. The style menu has 9 different options, all very different and unique looks ranging from classic retro waves to trendy sideswept half-​up hair.
No receptionist. No beverage offer. Just one stylist (turns out she was also the owner) and she just got straight to the hair. I opted for sleek and she delivered on a quality scalp wash and lasting blowout. She was sweet, professional, and efficient. She mentioned that the salon is brand new and had only been open for 6 weeks.
I should have confirmed that I could use the introductory blow dry discount before booking my appointment because when I went to pay, the owner informed me that the £19 promo was only valid for the month of September. That I didn’t quite understand since 6 weeks in operation would have put the salon’s inception at the first week of October, perhaps the last week of Sept if you’re being generous. But tevs.
At the full price of £25, the service was still worth it. On Mon & Tues during the off-​peak hours of 10am — 4:30pm, she drops the price to £16, which is a straight steal for those of you able to take advantage during your lunch break. She’s also offering discounts for parties of 4 or more and does home visit blow dry parties as well.
