Some of the best Mexican food I have had in London. The restaurant is small in space and a little expensive. The food is fantastic though. Good service, and really fun cocktails. Loved it for a special date night!

Very good mexicain food. Cosy atmosphere with a very welcoming staff. The ceviche is flavoursome and as a plus the espresso is very good(very rare in London).

After a successful Mexican lunch we decided to go for a back-to-back win in London and were not disappointed! Service: Was great. We walked in without a reservation(we didn’t have cell service so we had no choice). Not only were we met with Zero attitude about it, but they even tried quite hard to figure out a way to seat us. I won’t go into the details, but we ended up in a cozy table with a very friendly waitress, and a stop by from the owner(who was younger and more gregarious than we expected). The bartenders and waitress were all very knowledgeable about their product and came up with great suggestions for us. Food: Also great. Very allergen friendly(as Mexican commonly is), including a separate listing for wheat free and gluten free items(I suppose for the rare barley eater?). We were actually able to have an empanada, can you imagine? A gf empanada? Treat yo self. We also split the mole tacos at the urging of our waitress(traditionally prepared, they were on special), the enchiladas, and something else I don’t recall(the menu online is different than the menu we saw in the restaurant). Everything was delicious. I went with 4 instead of 5 because there was a little room for improvement on some of the flavors — you expect explosive flavors with Mexican and it was definitely tame… but still very good. Everything else: Ambiance was nice — dimly lit but not too dark to see. Cozy atmosphere with rustic furniture. Look out for the one wonky stool at the bar though! The bar is big enough to accommodate you waiting for a table, but small enough to keep the rowdy crowds from ruining your meal. Apparently it’s safe but the tenders laughed at me, saying — «no one likes that stool!» Food was plated well, drinks were tasty, no complaints.

With ‘Mexican food’ generally equating to burritos in London, it’s refreshing to find a place that does slightly more authentic Mexican food. The guacamole is excellent, and the mains were pretty good too. It’s not the cheapest place, but reasonable. For other proper Mexican restaurants, try Mestizo near Euston or Taquería near Westbourne Grove.

The food was pretty good here but for what it was it was very expensive! I would prefer to go to Wahaca! Nice meat and flavours but nothing special! Wouldn’t go back as so expensive and also restaurant was very dark, average atmosphere and décor felt a bit old

It’s like going to a Mexican’s house and they make you a home cooked meal. So many flavours and it smelled divine. The cocktails were lovely too. Atmosphere was good, dark and mysterious with a good soundtrack.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the staff, and the cocktails in this place. Sadly the vegetarian options were delicious but a bit of a let down in terms of variety. Sadly I’m allergic to mushrooms, something that seemed to be a staple in several of their vegetarian options. I had no idea that mushrooms were such an important ingredient in Mexican cooking? If they are then all the other Mexican restaurants I’ve been to are getting it wrong. Despite this I had an amazing evening, the girl serving us was so nice and the food came out fast and hot. Dessert was also amazing which made up for the main!

Being from California, the Mexican food in London had been a huge let down until I tried Boho Mexica. While it’s nothing like the true Mexican food I would find back home, it did impress me for London’s standards. The chicken in the enchiladas suizas was perfect. I don’t usually finish my meals at restaurants because the portions can be too big for me, but I couldn’t help myself this time. The décor and ambiance set by the low lights are perfect for a date or catch up sesh with friends — awesome cocktails too.

I. LIKE. THISPLACE. First of all, margaritas. The margaritas here are good, but there’s a catch. Up your tequila to Herradura. It’s that notch y’all. Watermelon Mezcaltini and Cadillac Margarita were equally as good– they use fresh ingredients. Guac and chips came pretty quickly, since the service was pretty prompt. The squid(Pulpos Encebollados) was very good, so were the beef tacos. Overall, it’s pretty good Mexican food for London’s standard.(I went with someone from LA) Just remember to order your cocktails!

We order from Boho Mexica more frequently than we should(through ) because it is one of the most authentic Mexican we have found in London so far(not saying a lot, necessarily…) I was happy therefore to have been invited to a Cinco de Mayo dinner to finally see where all this tasty food was coming from. Unfortunately this restaurant suffers from an external blandness that makes it difficult to locate even with the exact address in hand, and internal lack of ambience that almost comes off as dark and dreary. Not exactly the most festive atmosphere for Cinco de Mayo. However, the margaritas were excellent. I had the cucumber margarita, which I highly recommend. The spicy salsa and avocado tomatillo accompanied by homemade tortilla chips were as good as we had noted from our deliveries, but we were disappointed to only receive a handful of chips with each dip. Not nearly enough for our group to even make a dent int he salsas. A refill of chips was 1.50. We shared an assortment of the tacos including Al Pastor, Cochinita Pibil, and Pollito al Pepinito. I favored the Pibil but all were delicious. We followed this with the Quesadilla Gringa and the Enchiladas Roja. The Quesadillas very flavorful, but I found the Enchiladas very bland. The meal was a success until the end when we found ourselves unable to flag down any member of staff to get us our bill. Finally after 20 minutes we succeeded, but there was a charge for unrequested extra avocado that the waitress seemed unable to explain except that it was part of one of the dishes. After some confusion and back and forths with the menu and her manager, it was taken off but not before we were left feeling like we had put them out by requesting an explanation for its presence on our bill. Overall, I think the food definitely holds up as some of the best in the city, but I think I will stick to our delivery routine to enjoy it in the future.

I have spent a fair amount of time in Mexico and California, where I developed a love of Mexican food. When I saw this place I was hoping it would be a good reminder of everything I miss about that food. It was anything but that. It was just an abysmal excuse for Mexican food and an all around bad dining experience. I am truly sorry for anyone who ventures here for their first tastes of Mexican food. They are doing injustice to an entire cultural genre of food. Specifically, the food was very poor quality– frozen and re-heated. Also, the flavors were bland and the recipes terrible. The portion sizes were very small but the prices were not! They rush you through the meals– trying to get you out well before the hour and a half they allot guest stays. Honestly, That didn’t bother me since after my first bite I couldn’t leave soon enough. I am surprised I stayed as long as I did. Overall an uncomfortable atmosphere, terrible service and awful food. Such a disappointment. Do yourself a favor and skip this place entirely.

Horchata. This is my new favourite drink and I can’t believe it’s taken me till now to discover it. It’s a drink made from either ground rice or almonds, with a liberally addition of cinnamon. It’s very sweet but so very tasty. I would be back just for this. We ordered guac and tortilla chips. The chips appear made in house as they’re very different to the flat chips to normally find in tex mex. These are puffy like they’ve been rolled and deep fried. The guac. Well you can’t go wrong with guac. It was seasoned perfectly. We were here for the brunch menu and I ordered the Puerco Enchilanchado. This is a grilled piece of flatted pork served with plantains, rice, black beans and corn tortillas. I wasn’t that impressed but it was filling and tasted fine. Food wise, I probably wouldn’t come here again. But for the Horchata and Guac + Tortilla chips I will be back for sure.

My review might be skewed a bit because we were with two kids at dinner and this place is not kid friendly at all. We came in to have dinner with a new coworkers family and they were asking to find a good Mexican restaurant them being originally from Atlanta. We meet at boho and first of all it’s super crowded and very loud, where I couldn’t even hear anything anyone was saying. We get to ordering and the waitress is looking at us like we are crazy bc we have a seven year old and five year old with us. We ordered a bunch of items, which to be fair were decent: Diablo prawns(yum), chicken tacos(ok), steak tacos(didn’t seem too good). Chips salsa and guac were good. So the kids wanted plain quesadillas and the waitress kept insisting that they wouldn’t be able to make a plain cheese quesadilla. I asked her to check with the chef, and HEY, what do ya know – they can make a cheese quesadilla! Anyway, maybe I’ll go with friends without kids to see if the experience is different.

I went on a date here a few weeks ago, and the lively yet intimate vibe was perfect. I debated between 3 and 4 stars but the impossibility of getting to the bathroom without your purse(or yourself) smacking someone along the way could not be overlooked. The service, while super friendly, was also not incredibly good. Multiple times one server would come, take our order for food or drinks, and then a second person would come over expecting to take our order or drink order. And at first they tried giving up something as a starter that another table ordered. That being said, the guacamole totally satisfied my avocado crunch craving! The food was fantastic too, just be clear about your order. I got the vegetarian quesadilla and while it was delicious, I did find some chicken in it. I’m not a vegetarian(just don’t like ground meat, which is in a lot of Mexican dishes) so it didn’t bother me much, but if I were a non-meat eater I might be appalled. I would still go again, just for the cucumber margaritas. For me this would be a great place to have some drinks and snack on guacamole before going off somewhere else. THeir cocktail menu has an extensive list of creative margaritas– I want to try more!

As good as Mexican can get in London and then some. I don’t why it took my this long to try this place out. Flavors are well put together, some dishes slightly bland, but it was a quick fix with some hot sauce. Portions are good to get you full(went for dinner)…reading some of the other reviews says portions are small. maybe they fixed that. The only bad thing was that the service was slow and hard to get their attention. Had to get the jugs of water myself… good thing they were lined up at the bar area to grab easily. Also, music is blaring so prepare yourself with loud shouting/talking voices.

Free food, people! Yeah, you heard me. On previous visits, food had been ok, but, this night it wasn’t good. Our service was arrogant at best and rude at worst and it took more than an hour to produce 2 orders of tacos and 1 order of quesadillas. Cheese melts in minutes, but it’s cool. Yep, it’s cool and here’s why. We voiced our concerns about tasteless, tough, and dry meat to a man named Enrique, who, given his confidence in response, must own the place, and this is what happened: — Enrique responded that he didn’t care — Not the adult conversation we were expecting but on the positive side no profanity was used — I said that I wasn’t happy paying for all of our food given the quality — Enrique said that he sincerely hoped that we didn’t return — Enrique said we could leave without paying. So, substandard food, but people, IT’S FREE! If your experience is like ours, all you have to do to get a free meal is provide some honest feedback to Enrique. Normally, I’d tell you not to go, but in case it’s quite the opposite. GO. NOW. It’s a free meal. Yeah, they’ll be rude to you and that’s unpleasant but that passes and it’s a FREEMEAL, people. GO. NOW.

Mexican brunch! I do love my alternative breakfasts(fry-ups are SO mainstream) and I was really excited to try this place as i) I’d never had Mexican breakfast before and ii) decent Mexican places aren’t exactly commonplace here. It’s definitely a great place to eat on a lazy, sunny Sunday as it’s quite cool inside. First things first, the horchata is great. I’ve had some fairly subpar ones before, but this one has a decent amount of seasoning in it. I’d definitely come back just for that. I had the Canasta(cornbread) as a starter type thing and the Puerco Enchilanchado for main. The cornbread is a little spicy and was tasty, although overall a little more dense and moist than I was expecting. I don’t how it’s meant to be but, whilst enjoyable, it did sit somewhat heavily in my stomach. The puerco enchilanchado(slow stewed pork with plantains, rice, bean purée). It was a bit of a mission to finish with the canasta slowly expanding like like a mushroom cloud inside me, but I enjoyed the dish(although it wasn’t particularly memorable), and the pork recipe is a good ‘un. Plantains always make me happy too. It wasn’t particularly busy, so I think more of y’all(as they say) should go for brunch. Well worth it if you’re looking for something a little bit different.

Boho Mexica was another stop on the Tequila Tuesday adventures a few weeks back. I’d been by a few times, but never at a good meal time, so a friend and I stopped in for an earlish dinner one Tuesday night… We were seriously the only people in the restaurant for 90% of our dinner, and that was at… 5:30 or 6pm, if I remember. It can fill up though, so if you’re planning on a later dinner, I’d look into if they take reservations(I think they do). Their food was pretty good – not the best Mexican I’ve had, but certainly good for London. The chips and salsa we started with was great – they homemade salsa was wonderful, and the margaritas were strong too. Service was good, though a little slow for our food to arrive, given that we were the only ones there. Their location is great, right on Great Eastern Street and an easy walk from either Old Street or Shoreditch High Street. The atmosphere inside is fun too, with candles in old fashioned holders and water served from old tequila bottles. It’s definitely a good choice, if you’re out to enjoy all the different Mexican options that London has to offer.

The food was great and the drinks were strong and they accommodated our big group very well. I had a few types of margaritas and the caparinhia and they were all nice and strong. The guacamole starter was good. I wish that they served salsa with it as well. After the starter we had the shrimp shot. It was like a bloody mary with chopped shrimp in it. It was surprisingly good and was more of a second starter than a boozy shot. I got the chicken enchilada with spicy salsa. The salsa wasn’t very spicy, but the chicken was very tender and the corn tortillas were soft. My other half got the steak tacos. The size was small, but the steak was delicious. Defo the dish of the night. Service was friendly and food was good. I’d come again.

This is, so far, my favourite Mexican restaurant in London. In a town that sadly lacks decent Mexican food, this does the trick. It“s delightfully scruffy and quirky inside — it has Spanish scrawled across the ceilings and is a bit try-hard trendy. The drinks are really nice, or so I believe — once I had tried their margaritas, I didn’t feel the need to try anything else! The service is lovely, although the last time we went there we had an issue with the waitress who was brand new and didn’t speak English. A hilarious comedy conversation about whether a particular dish contained cheese or not ensued, but was eventually cleared up by the manager.(It didn’t contain cheese, in case you were wondering!) The food is fresh, they do nice specials and it’s all fairly reasonable. I mean, not street food in Mexico City reasonable, but reasonable for Spitalfields.
